Haha. The one I’ve had before and would have said -1 out of 5… “that’s a no.” Followed by a generous 2. I kinda miss Silk’s nog. Haven’t been able to find it for the last few years. Will have to see if I can find that coconog.
The coconog is a limited edition, according to the packaging. My assistant sampled it as well (even though he hasn't had real eggnog), and he gave it a 10 out of 10 because "it tastes like bubblegum" (???). His reaction to the other flavours was "blech". As for "that's a no" resulting in a 2, well ... it's good that I'm not a full time product or media reviewer. I tend to be overly generous. :)
i am looking at getting one of these. I read a lot of reviews where people had a lot of issues with the ap, the rov itself. how long have you had it? any issues? do you recommend?
I've had it since the kickstarter in 2019, but haven't used it very much. If I had a kayak or little motorboat I might get more use out of it, but just throwing it from shore doesn't guarantee interestingness. I guess it depends what kind of shoreline you have access to. As for issues, there was the one shown in the video with the props. That one might come up again as the unit ages. I haven't had too much trouble with the app, except I wish it wouldn't enable the watermark on videos by default. The device itself is a bit underpowered for the kinds of ocean current we get around here on Vancouver Island, which can make it frustrating to control for capturing smooth footage. Overall it is a fun toy & worth the cost. If I had more money to spare, I'd consider upgrading to the Chasing M2 with the grabber arm (dustin dunnill posted his first video of that unit a few days ago, looks like fun), or a Blue ROV 2.
I think I didn't in this video, as the visibility was pretty good that day. I may have used them in some of my other videos, but haven't had a chance to go deep enough where they were truly necessary.
I just got my Dory and tested in the bath. I thought it might be faulty because it just powered downwards constantly. Looks like yours does the same so maybe it needs deeper water. If you still have it... In the settings under Calibration>Sensors does your Accelerometer show any numbers for X, Y and Z? Did you do any calibrations?
It's a bit slow at times, particularly for writes. An SSD on usb3 or thunderbolt would be much faster, I suspect. But it does reasonably well for what I've been using it for (storing videos for editing).
The next time I took the unit out, I reoriented the buoy so that the logo was facing up (as it would if it were floating) and that seemed to result in a much more stable connection with no unlock failures and also more responsive controls.
@@whateverthing For you and anyone else that comes across this, what worked for me after talkign to customer support was getting to the screen where the "unlock fail" happens, then going into airplane mode and trying again. Thanks for the review!
First off... I hate you people who go "OMG teller can talk??!" Of course he can. Don't you dare call yourselves fans of Penn & Teller unless you know that. Second off, anybody notice that when Teller cracked that joke there was a giggle in the background? Didn't that giggle sound suspiciously like Penn?
