Alena... You are AMAZING! I was a teenaged gearhead too, but got tired of the grease (but not the fat paychecks). It's so wonderful to see women in the trades... long overdue.
@@thetimist I hope so. My two daughters are total gearheads as well... at least on a hobby level. I hope to see more women doing this kind of work in the near future.
Congratulations on owning such a historical watch. This commemorative Speedmaster is an important part of the Speedmaster rich history. Now you own a piece of that history.
@@thetimistYes that pimp I don’t like. Besides that it is to big. The reason that people prefer a Submariner. But the 4K is a Submariner on steroids with perfect measurements. Also it was made for only 3 years. I also owed a Deepsea but the 4K is just the best 👍
Awesome video - thanks for sharing! I absolutely love the 50th anniversary Silver Snoopy watch. Currently patiently waiting to see if maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to get my own! I had the chance to visit the Omega factory and museum in Switzerland back in April. It was there that I was able to actually get my hands on a snoopy for the first time (boutique exhibition model, not for sale) and I was blown away! Amazing piece and I wish you many years ahead enjoying your Snoopy!
Thanks for the kind words and support! I'm glad to hear you got to see and handle a Snoopy, but not just anywhere - at its place of birth! That's so awesome! I'm sure one day you'll be placing your very own on your wrist my friend! I'm rooting for you :)
I just came across your channel and watched this video. Great job on telling the story about Speedmaster Moonwatch and history involved with NASA. Congratulations on your Snoopy.👍. I recently bought the new Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with white lacquer dial from Omega Boutique. Love the watch. I’m also on list for 60th Anniversary Seamaster James Bond and of course a Snoopy.🤞
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video 👍 congrats are in order to you as well! Love the white dial Speedmaster! So fresh and so sharp! Fingers crossed you add the 60th Bond Seamaster and the Snoopy to your watch box my friend!
Great video. Personally, even though I have the money I can’t justify spending $14,000 on a watch so I went with an omega planet ocean for half the price. I felt a lot better about that.
Completely understandable - each person has a different definition of what "worth" is and if the ratio of what you get for what you're paying is off, makes total sense to go for what does tick all those personal boxes. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching, wear your Omega Planet Ocean in good health!
I was offered this watch today by an AD. Still thinking about it. I like the diameter as my wrist is a little above average at 7 1/8. The thickness is my only issue.
my wrist 6.75 and had the same concerned but i got my 2 weeks ago and cant stop wearing it for my daily. ANd i currently have a starbuck and this have been much more fun
Wow! I really enjoyed this video you put together and even found it kind of moving. I’ve been researching the Omega Speedys (and some others) as a gift idea, for 5 of my closest relatives. The thinking is, I wanted to get them all a nice watch. Something of similar value that they could possibly exchange between themselves, from time to time, just for a change of pace here and there. Initially the thought was to get 5 different Rolex’s. But I began to think, I would really rather it be something more user friendly and more of a ‘daily-driver’. Not something that just gets stashed in the back of a sock drawer, for safe keeping, for fear of loss or even theft. The Speedmasters and all the possible iterations they come in, seem to check all the right boxes. This idea came up as the result of a recent unfavorable medical diagnosis and I think this video has just helped me make up my mind on what I’d like to gift these special loved ones. Thanks for the nudge! 👍
Thank you for the kind words and support! I'm humbled to have played a small role in your decision! I also super appreciate you sharing your story as well! Indeed, there are many Speedmaster iterations, between anniversary models, limited editions, and the various standard pieces from the professional and non-professional line you're truly spoiled for choice! The sentiment and idea is wonderful, I'm just sorry it was born out of a medical diagnosis. I hope everything turns out well for you and that you can indeed gift these special watches to your closest relatives! Enjoy it all in good health my friend!
Not with that attitude 😅 I’m kidding of course! I do love the yellow and blue combo, but there’s no way I could imagine wearing that for an extended period of time!
I am indeed! I figured maybe as a birthday present I'd get the new adjustable bracelet! Although, I'm also a fan of rubber straps...I'll likely stick with the bracelet though! Thanks for the kinds words 🙏
Wow 👌, l was frogmarched into a dealership in a UK airport by my he insisted l get my 3861 master now and then. Although not a Snoopy it was my grail watch and for the previous 10 years been on want list but every year price increases kept pushing it further out of reach. Anyway l sat down , tried on it on and said yes and waited for my bank card to be processed fir clearance whilst l nervously chated away at how much this watch has meant to me especially when lve been collecting other watches but not as expensive a purchase. Anyway, my bank card cleared the purchase ammount and l was offered a beer to celebrate. That beer was the smoothest tasting glass of pure necture , the staff could see how l felt and they took a photo of me with my watch for thier internal magazine . It was a magic moment and l can fully appreciate your special moment when you recieved the Snoopy Speedy , and l say was well deserved 👏 ❤️
Wow, sounds like a dream came true that day my friend! Thank you for sharing 👍 wear it in good health and here’s to more adventures with our timepieces! Cheers mate 🙌
Today I got the snoopy watch, unfortunately I don't had to wait for which I am not feeling so glad. I wanted to wait for this watch but got one in 1 week 😅 still happy and now more after watching your video🎉
Had it, sold it after 1 month. It’s very uncomfortable to wear because of the high case back and it makes that doesn’t sits right on the wrist and top heavy. For me, it’s sort of a design flaw. Got a DeepSea James Cameron and it feels much better on the wrist: It sits much flatter. I’m very happy with it
Interesting - it's wild that the larger DeepSea JC felt better than the Sea Dweller for you, but then again all wrists differ! Glad you found your perfect piece!
<....over a Canada Goose parka??<....you're CDN?? :) Where from? Toronto? My yetion is doe the Sea Sweller have an <anti-reflective coating<? soemthing you didn't mention in an otherwisse well produced video with good content. The Sub deosnt have any SR coating whic i find so odd in such an expensive watch....when you can find AR coatings on Garmin, Seiko TUNA watches...etc....what other watch brand/model don't have an AR coating?? :) One of the r reasons why i'm not interested i Rolex's..... the other BIG reasn being---it's the most <copied" watch i.e knockoffs. Gets tiring having to prove to friends you have a REAL ONE...unless they know you drive a new 2024 Aston Martin DBS and live in an $8M home.....there is that group of people that buy expensive watches...maybe used.... just to <look wealthy< but live in a one bedroom apratment in a not so nice area....or just doesn't have the other niceties of life that <go with a real Rolex<....
Haha, no I'm in Washington State, not Canada. I included that little line more for comic relief (given that Canada Goose parkas are very expensive and some people like to wear their watches over their clothes, which only makes sense if you find yourself in an extreme climate like the arctic circle...but not at the mall haha) Thanks for the kind words - I didn't mention the AR coating on my watch because it doesn't have it. There was no AR coating on any Sea Dweller model from 2022 or earlier, the AR coating (underside) was added in 2023. Great call out though for anyone that has a 2023 model or newer 👍 Also keep in mind that some watch brands don't include AR coating not because they don't want it as a positive addition, but because AR (external application on the crystal) can be scratched off and depending on the color/tint/hue of the AR coating it will look like tiny cracks or smudges on the crystal from certain angles. Breitling is a good example, they apply AR coating both top and underside and it's usually a blue hue - the top coating can get scratched (the sapphire is fine mind you, it's just the coating that gets affected) something to keep in mind. Lastly, I don't recommend you buy anything to impress anyone. Ever. Because at the end of the day no one TRULY cares. Everyone has their own priorities, so basing your life choices or decisions on the hypothetical points of view of others is a losing battle, and the only way to win is to not play. So buy what you can afford and what YOU like. You have to be happy with what you have, because it's your money and your hard work. This applies to a Rolex or a Timex and everything in between 😄
@@thetimist HEH// Ièll take your word on that. Just thinking how much it woul suck to loose such an expesive watch somewhere in deep snow. :)) On the cuff of a parka..where it could slip off fairly eay (Ièd assume). The watch...as i commented...still wodnering if it has a AR coating...heard later that a recent 71mm version of the the Sub now ha an AR coating...YTer didnèt say which yearémodel number.....OADD, Ièd think Rolex would have 'caught up' and added AR coastings on all their watches....dive or others....should be a standard feature....shrug...
@@AGC828 Again, the watch over your sleeve/parka was a joke - I don't recommend you do that, it's why I said it was for comic relief 😉 And again, my Sea Dweller, the one in the video, from 2022, does NOT have AR coating. The 2023 models and beyond DO have AR coating.
@@thetimist Ok thanks/ Good to note 2023 and beyond/ :) Do you know from which model year the Submariner has the AR coating addedÉ I Know (or heard) it was the 2020 and on versionsÉ 126610....
You are one of the very few watch review channels that incorporates wide angle wrist shots! On the wrist but not macro. It's how youd see the watch looking down at your own wrist. This is my grail piece and hope to own one within the next year!
The FXD is the only watch that has satisfied what I sought in the both the Submariner and the Black Bay. Tudor has chosen wisely to expand the line beyond the Marine Nationale. Anyone with a wrist as small as 6.25 inch wrist can pull this off.
If you can move your hand at many km/h, the difference would be a fraction of a percentage from the static pressure. Check the calculation on the internet, has been done many times!!!!!
Oh really? Haven’t dug into this much - surely having a pressure jet directed at the crown (like in the hot tub scenario) would exert additional force that would potentially expose the inner workings, no? 🧐
I wouldn’t normally spend this time to engage in these sorts of comments, but I think I get it now, and I want to help. What may be happening is this - your relationship with your AD is strained because instead of working towards enjoying this wonderful hobby and engaging with your AD and your local watch community, you spend your time and energy bringing down others via comments instead of being happy for them. I hope you find a way to be happy with what you have while working towards what you want without the need to bring down others 👍
@thetimist yeah, yeah... I hear what you're saying. I know you have your contents. I'm just saying it's unfortunate that most of us have to play the game to even have a chance. When you have to fork over 10k for a watch, maybe the AD should work with you instead of you having to bribe and beg them to call you for a watch. At the end of the days it's just a watch.
@@jangheedavidhan6253 It's definitely a weird scenario, without a doubt. The idea of not being able to simply walk into a store, pay your hard earned money and get the item you want is strange. Granted, it's only an issue on some models. I reckon the watch industry took a page from the automotive industry - they've been doing this for a lot longer. Want a special/rare car? Get on the list. I actually started a watch podcast in March of this year and it's one of the main topics I go over with an actual AD - episode 2 is titled "how does an AD decide who gets a watch?" give it a listen if you feel like it. It's about 40 min long or so. But the short answer is "it depends on the AD." Again, it's a beautiful hobby and collectors space and I really do hope that you get the watch that you want soon and without having to jump through hoops 👍
Good show thx. Interesting with Rolex how my dream watch - white gold Sub with blue bezel is correctly cheaper (20%) on the grey market compared to AD. With gold prices high, it seems strange.
It makes me have hope Rolex will one day bring back the 1680 red Submariner, but more than likely not. Until then, my Pelagos 39, reminiscent of the 1680 red, will do.
Brilliant! This is literally what I’m going to be like when I get my call. Sooo exciting. I like how you know how lucky you are. To many people take days like this for granted and spoil themselves. You deserve this mate . Enjoy ! All I can say is Dude!
Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to leave your kind comment 👍 grateful for every day I get to share these moments with family and friends!
I love it. I really want a Sea-dweller. I have an Omega Planet Ocean as my daily wear which I adore. It’s not about one being better than the other I want both😂
You need to try it on. The watch wears better than you'd think. No flying under the radar but I've worn mine on weeklong vacations everyday doing everything. Wears nicely tight or loose. My wrist is 17cm and it looks cool and it fetches a lot of complements. Cheers.
Completely - you get it! The dimension numbers scare people away, but people forget there's a lot more that goes into the "formula" on deciding whether or not a watch looks good on your wrist. So put it on and see! Thanks for taking the time to share your experience!
@@johntrain7120 Gotcha. It's my understanding that most ADs stopped taking deposits a while ago, some reports are saying as early as January 2023 while some are saying June of 2023. What I've been told is that, IF you managed to get a deposit accepted by an Omega Boutique, you WILL get your Snoopy...eventually. But if you don't have a deposit made and accepted it's incredibly difficult.
I really enjoyed this episode. As an engineer who works within the realm of new products to modifying and overhauling others, you both touched on some interesting thoughts on does it make it new or the same product. I like to use the word hybrid often lol. I’m also a huge fan of the ambassadors, I think for some knowing that a celebrity you like and support wears the same timepiece as you is a cool thought! Over and out, B&W!
One thing I'd love to share my input on... regarding the celebrity ambassador debate, I think at the very least when we see these well-groomed celebs like Beckham, with his cool-guy jackets etc. (same with Breitling with Brad Pitt), people might start imagining that kind of look on themselves. Celebrity ambassadors are essentially walking mannequins. They set the trends on fashion, and so they do have an impact on what the fashion magazines and watch media talk about, inevitably pushing the algorithm and BOOM! Wait lists! And we're still here thinking, I don't think this watch is that good looking, but I don't know why I badly want one 😆
Haha, very interesting take, and a great point to actually explore further! I believe a great example of that would be the pink dial Tudor Black Bay Chrono! It's literally a watch that will only be available to key folks (a bit like the Tiffany Nautilus) so the expectations of folks that may not be privy to this means they're sort of already setup for disappointment from the get-go. But who knows, that may very well be the strategy (or ONE of the strategies) designed to attract folks in, and upon realizing it's not going to happen, well, you're already there so you may as well check out the non-pink dialed Chrono because that one may very well in fact be available :)
I was told that by someone at Omega that Daniel Craig's relationship with Omega goes beyond just the Bond movies, as he's also an ambassador for Omega's Orbis ngo project.
Oh very cool! That's good to know - but I'm also assuming that whoever the new Bond is will also likely have some promo spots rocking an Omega piece or two haha!
