That 2.5 sec is a huge deal breaker. It does not just affect full power shooting. All power settings are slower for the most part. Hss can be hugely affected by that as well. I had the older 600 and now the pro. And the faster recycle speed is a huge improvement. I do wish, and assume it will happen, that the new pros come with the updated screen and the new led that shows the group. Those are great features.
Yes great features. But for the most part depending on what you shoot, unless you are shooting full power consistently, you will not notice the 2.5. Its not as slow as you think and pretty fast actually. I will do a reel of both tomorrow and post them.
@@BrandonColePhotography of course anything can depend on how you shoot. And there are times when full power can be necessary. Or even close to it. Again, the slower recycle time affects even lower power settings and hss. If it was a little bit of a difference in recycle time I'd understand. But 0.9 to 2.5 seconds in the world of photography can be a huge difference. A lot of it comes down to the SE using the older technology battery. And as I said I had both, and the new pro definitely outperforms the old one in real world shooting. The pro is a pro for a reason. It's the better flash. And when on sale, as they are often, it's the better value.
Just came across your channel, great job! I'm with you on the buttons and menu, recycle time is waaay too long though. It would have been worth a look otherwise, however I would like to be able to use the same batteries as my 600 Pros. Every studio I have had has had concrete floors and we only used tennis balls on the c-stands on the cyc, BUT use the tennis balls on the other end of those arms (knuckle and arms) sticking out when you have them on set! Keep someone from poking their eyes out or hitting their heads on the pointy end.
Right out the camera or post edits....(That Look) and @5:40min exact the focus (green) signal i can never get the (parentheses) outside the green spot signaling steady focus...how do you mange to be so still ???
Was hesitant to purchase not knowing how it would hold up with the AD/400. A video with the black dish and the ad400 and ad200 would extend the reach to those who have these strobes.
@@Potalakh depending on what you shoot or need to stop action but remember that’s only at full power. Anything lower then full power you get a faster recycle time. For what most people do you 2.5 is fine and it’s actually pretty fast it if you actually sit and fire off full power shot after shot
@@BrandonColePhotography i like to shoot portraits in fast way, have ad400pro, the difference is very notisable beetwin it and smth like ad300, ad200 with 1.5-2.5s.
Great video!! I have seen different recycle times on the Flashpoint website. On an article about the 600 SE, it states 0.01-0.9 and then under specs on the adorama page, it says 0.01-2.5. I don't shoot fast with models, so that isn't a deal breaker for me but a sports photographer that uses OCF would. I love the menu setup better and I came from Westcott. Westcott deemed unreliable as 2 different FJ400 strobes turned into lemons while on shoot. No idea why. I just hope that with the batteries, that you don't have to charge them every 2-3 months or you have to reset them.
Same with the FJ400s, scraped the whole system because they wouldn't fire consistently. Switched to @Flashpoint system and haven't had any issues. The recycle time makes the SE not usable for me, like the look of it though.
This monitor is a beast and the FAN NOISE is not as bad as you think, especially since you can turn it down. I only ramp it up if it's hot outside, but for inside work setting it around 30-40% works just fine. I was able to grab 2 (brand new) on amazon earlier this year for $59.99 (finally i caught an awesome amazon deal)...I should have bought 10 of them. I've used them to capture football games and weddings in over 100 degree temps and also in full sun and experienced NO issues and NO overheating. I do need to check to see if there are any comparable monitor cages.
Hey Bandon, According to the feature specs on the Adorama website the flash recycle time is 0.01 to .09 sec. also, you did not mention the color stability goes down from +- 500 degrees Kelvin to +- 75 degree kelvin. One more thing, it also states the flashes per charge is 370 full power flashes.
