Most people are unaware about , Roy orbisons private life! I was a close friend, after Claudette’s death Roy put a loaded fire arm in his mouth! Crying and repeating Claudette’s name! We stoped him , we told him his boys needed him! He was in fact prescribed 3 separate pharmaceuticals. We tried to convince him just to relax. He told us that, the same exact words Theodore Roosevelt had said when his wife and mother died. The light has gone out of my life! After the fire , Roy tried to make amends, by working non stop! He was committed to a private psychiatric facility. For maybe a week! Barbra was a vicious , angry woman that worked Roy to the bone. Alex and Jr knew! Wesley always felt inadequate! He looked so much like his father. There is a silence that surrounds tge real Roy Orbison ! His music was everything, but he could barely get out of bed! He drank bushmills Irish whiskey occasionally! Smoked way too many cigarettes! Didn’t like pot! He did like opiates in small quantities! He enjoyed comic books , Elvis would show him a few at Graceland! Roy liked beautiful women, but could never love another woman after Claudette! They didn’t tell anyone that she was pregnant when she passed. Only about 14 weeks! He was stressed out in the end with the crazy schedules, it took a told on him. His friends and family were shocked that he made it to 52!
The Razzle Dazzle show! These guys had great personalities for kids to watch. Good music and funny. Relatable to kids. My sister and I really liked The Hudson Brothers. We watched it almost every time the show was on.
@0:58 - With the ILLEGAL TOBACCO DRUG, which killed him. BAN THE ILLEGAL (YES, still ILLEGAL to POISON people, no matter how slowly you do it) TOBACCO DRUG, NOW. PROSECUTE THE CRIMINAL TOBACCO PUSHERS, TOO!
Pete didn’t do anything wrong. In fact he had a large part in helping the Beatles achieve their popularity in the early days. Pete’s own mother helped finance and facility the band when they had no one else to help. Although Pete may have never had a future with the group, they should have at least had enough respect for him to explain themselves man to man.
I played your self titled album a lot when it came out, and I still play it. I first heard you in our hometown. I was in a duo called Rush and Read and we aspired to be as good as you. You're a true talent, Larry, and I wish you all the best.
I’ve been infatuated with the Hudson Brothers forever. !! A young kid watching them on tv.. to collecting the albums, buying the compleat Razzle Show on dvd… !! Now videos on YT. Yay !!!
Thanks, Hudson Brothers, for giving Peter "Optimus Prime" Cullen a start on your crazy show. Thanks, Seth McFarlane, for helping us remember the old Razzle Dazzle.
Songwriter Alle Willis, RIP, was someone you'd never guess was the writer of this song. At the time of this interview, she looked like the Maxine character on Hallmark cards. 😄
It's Roger Daltrey's b-day today. Back in maybe 1966(?) I went to a British Invasion show here in Chicago. I really wanted to see The Who. Believe it or not, the headliners were Herman's Hermits. The Who were OPENING for Herman's Hermits. Before I got there I had heard/read some stories about The Who but I was still blown away. My little teenage head couldn't believe what I was seeing. After they stumbled off the stage, smoke and broken instruments and all, I left. I never intended to see Herman but how could I after seeing The Who even if I wanted to. HA!
Pete is phenomenal as guiterist .. and I think Delight 's best productions were woth Pete. So sad they separated. Pete has great voice too.. i wonder if he ever sang... He has it i feel .. to be a vocaliat..
Good story. “Streets” is like a Bakersfield anthem. Dwight made a great tribute to Buck his funeral. Buck’s studio on North Chester later became the home base for the Smokin’ Armadillos and a studio for Korn. Buck, along with Merle certainly popularized the Bakersfield Sound. Buck was also a shrewd and successful businessman. Would love to hear more stories about Buck. RIP Buck. Thanks, Pete.
Their crew notoriously dosed people (not cool, I get it), but the band members never personally dosed anyone. Find me one example of another person saying they were dosed directly by a band member? You won't, because no example exists.
Brett is my favorite and I had that album. In my little town of newton nj, my record store, country pie records gave me your album that said promotional album do not sell on it and I stoll have ot
OK I am just hearing about this place now - and looked it up and discovered one of my friends used to/still does? live there. I've been inside a gazillion times and did not know the VU played there, Zeppelin played there, Fleetwood Mac played there, MC5 suggested the crowd burn the place down and take it to the streets lol, the dead played there, etc
I tried so hard to hear them live at the teen fair in seattle wa, however i had chores to do and of coarse as soon as we arrived i missed a lot of 1967 teen fair acts including the New Yorkers and catching the last song of a much better band at that time The City Zu.
