Welcome to my channel, where I am sharing all my railway videos.

I have a lifelong interest in anything railway related, especially locos from the Vulcan Foundry, such as class 20, 37, 40, 50, 55 and 86, plus of course the steam locos. I travel regularly around the North West of England, North Wales and sometimes other parts of the United Kingdom filming trains.

"Half an Hour at" is a series of videos where I spend 30 minutes at locations recording today's modern British railways. There are now over 400 videos in this playlist.

"Exploring....." is a new series looking at abandoned former station sites.

"From The Archives....." featuring some of my oldest footage put into compilation videos.

Follow me on Facebook (search Robin Harrison), Twitter @RobinHTrains and now on Instagram at instagram.com/rwhtrains/

When I was a nipper, my friends and I would walk the disused lines around Red Wharf. Let's hope they open it to the public, I'm sure it would be a welcome addition to Anglesey's tourist attractions.

Although I'm no train boffin, I can relate to this machinery. I used to go caving and on occasion we would explore disused mines that had the equipment pretty much intact and on rails in some cases. We would also discover things like old boots and tools. We would always leave the area as we found it.

Used to play there when I was kid in the 80s as I used to live a few minutes away at the top end of Watling Street Rd on Brooky Estate. I remember the stone bridge that took Gamull Lane over the railway. There was a steel footbridge installed between the stone bridge and the station house in the early 1970s. The bridge was demolished in the winter of 1983/4. The steel footbridge was carefully lifted and moved to Padiham where it now spans the River Calder. The Longridge Railway at Ribbleton became surplus to requirements in 1980 when Courtaulds closed its works at Redscar nearby.

Thanks for recording your visit. I walked the path this weekend from Prestatyn to Dyserth. It's amazing how overgrown it's become in just a couple of years. It was impossible to make out the facing siding at Meliden that used to serve the mine. Was it a lead mine? And has the lime processing site been built on now at the terminus (I know the station has).
@RWHTrains
@RWHTrains 5 дней назад
Thanks for the comment. I've not been up on the walkway since doing this video so it's disappointing to hear it's become so overgrown. Yes it was a lead mine at Meliden. To be honest I'm not sure where the lime processing site was to be able to answer that question as I only looked at the station area. Apart from that being developed for housing, and the adjacent area has been turned into a car park for the walkway, I don't think there has been any other major redevelopment
@v2factoryman
@v2factoryman 5 дней назад
@@RWHTrains I'm not intimately familiar with the layout at Dyserth, but I believe the spur to the lime processing site curved off to the right (as you surveyed the station area from the overbridge). I tried to follow this route but was confronted very shortly by a new small industrial estate, so I believe the processing site may have been developed. My wife's enthusiasm for exploring the past didn't extend any further, so I might have to go back myself to satisfy my curiosity. The walkway is perfectly passable on foot or cycle, it's just the views which have been obscured!
@RWHTrains
@RWHTrains 3 дня назад
@@v2factoryman yes the station is definitely now housing and some industrial units between the houses and the main road. The old goods shed is in the middle of this. I think the area you mention with the spur maybe the car park area. Glad the footpath is still in good condition hopefully they will sort out the over growth, especially at Meliden. I think the refurbishment of the goods shed there cost about £1m. Shame if that area was allowed to deteriorate as they did a really good job here turning it into a little heritage centre

I needed to know why they couldn’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for most of the mainline Trains so that they could extend the unused abandoned underground train stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock which will include the class 507, class 508, class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign all of them into an overhead wire line trains and also make most of them into Five carriages per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Gardner 6LXC, Cummins M11, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner LG1200 and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 8-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 10-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 507, class 508, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into 11 carriages per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers? A Stock Train and 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it even much more Larger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Railway tunnel into a High-Speed Railway lines? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Railway line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. Then put the modernised 11 carriages per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 carriages per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 47 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project if that will be OK for London Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from the Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden more Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly Line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street can they also make another brand new underground train station in Chingford and could they extend the Piccadilly Line and the DLR right up to Chingford? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Gardner 6LXC, Cummins M11, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner LG1200 and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and can they order Every 87 Octagon and Every 48 Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.13 and unique small no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 147MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 147MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units, can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 18 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!!!!!, oh can you make all of those 18 Tonne Boxes of Coal for all of those 147MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!!!! So please make sure that the Builders can do as they are told!!!!!! And PLEASE do something about these very very important Professional ideas Please? Prime Minister of England, Prime Minister of Australia, Prime Minister of Sweden, Prime Minister of Germany, Prime Minister of Italy, Prime Minister of Poland and that Includes the Mayor of London.

This is only 5-10 min walk away from me as I am in Pentre Broughton and this stretch of line the lower line use to link the Brymbo steel works line past where you were filming at the station platform it goes across the embankment by the lake in the valley accross to the Gwersyllt side passing through Highfield and Pendine along Griffiths Road and there use to be a bridge over the Mold Road just on the edge of Gwersyllt and joined the main line in Gwersyllt at Brymbo Junction witch is the Wrexham to Bidstone/Liverpool line. The other end of this line at New Broughton where the line joined the Brymbo steel works line was a big loop that joined the line from Croes Newydd ( by Morrisons ) to Brymbo and the steel works and after the steel works the line carried on as a single line around the back of Brymbo passing Pen Rhos and Pentre Saeson towards Geggin and on to Minera lime works and lead works. The only time I have used that platform was 28th April.2008. That was the day that the Wrexham and Shropshire Railway launched. At the time I worked in Wolverhampton, my normal commute home to Rhyl was via Crewe, but on this special occasion I caught the W&SRly to Wrexham, then the Borderlands line to Shotton and changed there for the coast line. Because of the excessive time this journey took, regretfully I never repeated it.
