My name is Marcus and this is a fitness focused Home Gym channel sharing real world experiences with training, nutrition and equipment for all types. I am an average every day common lifter who happens to be middle aged but still maintains an active lifestyle and incorporates weight training into my daily life. Staying strong, agile, athletic and healthy throughout life is an important aspect for all of us and can help to avoid various chronic diseases. I believe in safely pushing yourself regardless of your age, gender or lifestyle. Weight training and physical fitness in general should be routine for healthy living. Modest real home gym. Real training. Real lifting competitions. Real experiences (including mistakes). I don't buy equipment for the sake of reviews; I buy what I need to train successfully. If you're passionate about fitness, I believe you will enjoy this channel.
Awesome video! Have always considered Hansu but I think Australia has limited options. You are getting a nice collection of bars there mate. Bargain also. Eleiko confuses me. Their IPF bar is bare steel (although rarely rusts apparently) but their training bar is stainless? I had a rogue bare steel bar and it rusted almost immediately. The stainless steel one is amazing though.
Thank you and yes, certainly a bargain. Perhaps Eleiko uses bare steel in competition to give lifters the best feeling grip (unimpeded by a coating), but your guess is as good as mine. 😀
Marcus - I can't believe that you actually received your calibrated plates! I ordered a 459 kg set back in mid-March. I've rec'd all the blues and lower but am still waiting on the reds. After politely whining to Hansu about the lengthy delays, they shipped a power bar to me for my troubles (though I'd still rather have my reds). Anyways, it's become my go to bar for bench and squats.
Xilinx, I actually ordered a few from their clearance section to compliment my Rogue calibrated plates, so perhaps that’s why mine shipped quickly. A complimentary power bar is a nice consolation but I feel your pain on the missing reds
Thank you! It’s comparable in many ways. Good grip and feel and similar specs (lower tensile strength but for a LOT less money than Kabuki). The only difference that would be noticeable is the comp collars.
I come to this channel to do two things, check in with one of the best home gym content creators and SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON! Let's go. $212 is crazy barbell price
Hey, thanks for the review! I am considering on getting one but yeah, price is off the charts 😅 Another concern is, are they washable/easy to wash? I really love the white/gold but I think they tend to get dirty easy.
We've all taken care of ourselves. Taking care of another, yeah, that's stressful. On that note, you sure he couldn't have hit that 240 first bench? Must not have thought 100KG wiggle room on deadlift was worth the risk🙂
You convinced me to go with the wide pad on a Blackwing bench. I was on the fence about it. Thanks for the honest opinions based on your experience. I appreciate it and made sure that you got the affiliate credit on both my orders from Rep as a token of my appreciation.
How did I miss this blast from the past, Twisted home gym opener all this time? Vintage, pre Bruce overwatch, even. Hey, what lighting and equipment did you get soon after that awesome'ized your production quality?
Started from the bottom🤣 bought some inexpensive flat panel LED lights, then a dedicated 4K full frame camera and some Rode Mics, mostly. Realized sound and lighting were sorely needed for good production.
I still love the bar a year later. The knurling is still biting nicely too. If you’re looking for a nice bar, it’s a great option. I’ll also be putting out a review on the IPF approved Hansu bar which was even cheaper and is a great bar as well!
Thanks for the thorough review. You are the reason I decided on the Lat pull down option and pulled the trigger. Used your affiliate link (you more than earned it with all the information you have provided).
@@twistedbarbell3950 My Rep PR-5000 arrives today (as you mentioned you would have done the 5000 if you did it again). I made sure that the affiliate referral went to you and Rep confirmed it will. I would encourage everyone to do the same.
I have 1 cm difference between calves. 43 cms on left leg, 44 cms on right one. Would you recomend 3xl or 4xl?! Also I ve torn 2 a7's rigor Mortis with correct size. Hopefully those are not like a7's. The seam seems really strong on pioneers.
I’m glad I was helpful. I actually do get a small commission when someone uses my affiliate link for purchases. It’s not much but I started from scratch and am happy to make the many choices easier for others starting out and looking for quality and value.
Great Job! I am curious do you have a video that describes you and your journey? You look like a big guy, watching you do dips with weights and pull-ups just impresses me. I am 53, started at 355, and am now down to 267. I am actually starting to see muscles!!! I was just curious things like age/weight/height time you have been lifting etc. When I set my goals, I am not aiming for big ripped look, more just a look of a brick S*%t house. Or even just restoring myself to the old big Oklahoma Country boy I used to be before I got fat. Anyways not trying to get to personal, but was just curious as always love the content and the reviews.. Keep them coming!
Thanks for watching and commenting John! I appreciate the support and kind words. I have not yet done a video of that sort, but maybe it’s time! Your weight loss is impressive and glad you decided to take that journey after realizing it’s never too late! Limitations exist in the mind and it’s only when we think outside of mental limitations that we realize our full potential. Of course it takes hard work, but it’s worth it in the long run. Many focus on improving on a variety of other aspects in life but we only get one physical body and it’s up to us to maintain it like we would our shelters - to serve us for a long time. Keep an eye out for an “origin” type video and I hope to hear more about the old Oklahoma brick house feeling like the old glory days again!
The best gym item I’ve ever bought is undoubtedly my rackable EZ bar. Using it in my squat rack at home, I start my skull crushers with the bar touching my forehead at the bottom of the rep. This setup allows me to lift as heavy as I like while maintaining safety, even without a spotter. Additionally, rackable EZ bars are reasonably priced. I highly recommend getting one!
Congratulations on your completion! I just want to say thank you for your deep discussion about the rep 4K. I’m doing a similar hybrid build 1/2 rack. Doing a 30 in deep rack with support arms to do most work on the outside of the rack. I think I’ll be greatful for the extra space instead of getting just a 17 inch wide 1/2 rack.
Thanks Hugh. Yeah, the medal factor was the meet director's issue, but the membership card thing was USAPL and likely mine. I think I needed to pull down a new version of the card once we were in 2024!
Would it be beneficial to use for a few months while I am recovering from rotator cuff tendonitis ? Feels a lot easier on the shoulders than doing a normal bench press.
