Master Phillip Redmond started Wing Chun in 1970 and became a student of Grandmaster William Cheung in 1983. Group classes and private lessons are taught in the Los Angeles and N.Y.C. Call (424-571-2347) for more information.
This is brilliant information! I’ve always known to keep energy moving forward/toward the Mook Jong, but I’ve never known the energy should slide the dummy’s arms across the top of the opening in that fashion. Thanks!🙏🏽
Thank you for your teaching in developing of Wing Chun with over 50 years from 🎉8 Sifus from other lineages. Your education and experience in kung fu is noted and greatly appreciated by us your students. Thank you and courtesy Sifu.
The worst thing that ever happened to king fu is the phrase “ just hold your hand out there for demonstration” It gets into everything like a strong smell you can’t get rid of. Insidious.
When I post a video here it’s usually for my students. I already know that Wing Chun people are going to comment how our forms are different. I could do the forms most people are familiar with but I chose not to and for a good reason. Wing Chun are the most critical of each other but very few even try to test their skills against other martial arts. The bottom line is that I do not care about your uninformed opinions. That is all😂
really bad footwork and leg positioning actually i watched more... you have no idea of what you are doing... you are giving a bad image to us. i was trained by master Lo and master Wong btw i could teach you the basics if you want...
I’ve been doing Wing Chun since 1970 and studied under 8 different Sifus from different lineages. But if you think you can teach me something I’m always ready to learn.
7:20 Punches are weak when hip arent moving a single bit. Something needs to be changed in this stance or get the hip movement somehow. Anyway this punching style Ive neer seen before.
@@sifuredmond Lol. The elderly guy is wasting his time training wasteful forms. He would do much better with quicker result, training with pads like boxers do. My log in is "sportmuaythai", so I do muaythai. Not a keyboard warrior.
a load of wank. try that shit in a street fight and your on the ground! no street fighter is going to wait for your stances! YOU ARE A DEAD man on your 1st stance!!
This is a great interview thx for posting! As an aside i used to train jkd which incorporated some wing chun movements (modified), i now train traditional and also found, at least for myself, that the traditional movements/positions etc were more efficient and effective. Either way if you’re practicing any martial art nuff respect! 🤜🏼🫷🏼
I THOUGHT that Yip Man created Modified WC? I thought he learned Traditional and as a Sifu it is his perogative to make changes and he modified it and passed that down. But it makes sense for someone who studied a long time to either have started Traditional and then Yip Man modified and then taught him the new version. Or, someone learned Modified but wants to study more, so YM starts giving him the traditional forms 🤷. Either way its no big deal and no one should be arguing about it. Just train amd be the best you and put it on the floor
It is what it is, its not an insult to be Modified or Traditional. They're just different approaches. One says learn the basics first, then over time with years of training, learn more as you improve and show discipline in training (Traditional). The other approach is concentrate the best moves into less forms so it can be learned faster, because people dont have years and years to learn all of it. Either one can suit your learning style, work for you, or NOT work if YOU dont DO the work! If you want to learn it faster then spend more time honing your skills after, fine, do Modified. If your mind cant hold on to all that at once and you learn better a little at a time OR if you just lile to learn all the traditional forms, etc then do Traditional. My Sifu sparred with William Cheung and learned and taught Traditional Wing Chun. Why? Because HE liked it. You can learn whatever YOU want, its YOUR life. Everybody thinks the way THEY learned is better that others... it IS, For THEM. ✊️🙏
Here’s another style of wing Chun almost the same as ourz so Sifu couldn’t made it up…ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Tf4R9n-zn3I.htmlsi=78l3k8vzgvGrA5S6
The main and only relevant rift in wing chun is the emphasis on the concept of “internal power” or lack thereof! Nima King’s “Mindful Wing Chun” under the late master Chu Shong Tin, John Cognan an Australian Sifu also does what Master Cheung practitioners criticize as “floppy hands” leaning back sliding instead of stepping looking Yip Man style! But the look or movement isn’t relevant, but training either way with only muscle strength and structure in mind with no bearing on internal cultivation makes all the difference in the world! Come together and discuss the reality of both concepts amongst both parties and do away with the misconceptions once and for all, anyone can talk trash in ignorance but it’s useless in progressing Wing Chun but only damages it in mass confusion. 😳🤦🏻♂️🙄/👌✌️🤲☝️🤔
We are here sifu. 😉💯👈🏻awesome demonstration. To me there’s the first level where we learn that the contact, the sticky hand struggle, control, and hitting while he tries to hit are fundamental. Once we get quite good, now I’ll show them how to detach. Using the lead hand as we turn slightly and create a bladed stance, just enough to have A FRONT HAND. We can use the rear helping hand and mow FREE LEAD to detach and hit twice. 1. LEFT FOOK COVER is a BUI GEE. To the eye on the right side opponents TAN SAO. 2. CHEUNG CHOY at center. Same with the right eye and jaw on that side. In a 1-2 use the first action to draw a response, and the 1-2 detach to complete the entry. 😎👈🏻💯
