WATERFORD YOUTH ARTS (WYA)

These are films from Waterford, Ireland. Sources include Waterford Youth Arts, the WYD-eye Film Unit, Waterford's Imagine Arts Festival, Scene 15 Youth Film Festival and other Waterford sources. They were uploaded by Waterford Youth Arts.

WATERFORD YOUTH ARTS is a youth and community arts resource which enables young people to participate in creative activity as a means of self-expression and development in a safe, professional and enjoyable environment.

WYA is recognised nationally as one of Ireland's leading youth arts organisations, and each week over 400 young people take part in its activities.

Established in August 1985 as Waterford Youth Drama, WYA has grown from the voluntary efforts of two individuals and 25 young people to a fully-structured youth arts organisation with a paid staff.

Absolutely brilliant. And so wonderful to see my late Grandmother's front door in a close-up within the first 2 minutes at 371. I'll always be a proud St John's Park man. 174

This just came up in my RU-vid feed by pure chance after recently looking at some tramore videos. Im from Liverpool and visited the place in 1980 with my brother and sister and mum and dad. I was 14/15 at the time. Dad took us to look up his uncle Paddy Power, who he knew once lived on an old blacksmiths farm. My dad asked the taxi driver if he knew where paddy power lived. The driver replied There’s about ten Paddy Powers around here, has he got a nickname? My dad said Paddy Buck Power. Driver replies, I know him and took us straight there. We spent a lovely day there and we were shown all around the old original farm and buildings. Great memories and I still have the photos 44 years later.

I have just watched this Grant family video. I am the middle of 5 children born to Jimmy and Rosaline Grant, born at 36 Morley Terrace, Waterford. I went to De La Salle school, and we moved to England in October 1961. Lovely to hear on the video some of the familiar names and places from my childhood (I was 8 yoa when we left for England). Would love to hear from anyone in the video or broader family.

Oh Lads you brought back loads memories of saint John's park, Teddy O'Connor was such a kind hearted person he loved children and would let us go for a spin on the bus up to grace dieu and back home and Matty was the same he was a heavy set man. The Wimpy was brilliant the burgers were gorgeous better than today's ones and the odeon. I grew up in the square next to Boyles, I was lucky because I'd hear skinner, Mac and Johnny practicing they later became Simon have a scar on forehead to remind me of when they threw an empty can of beans down toward arch which i was walking up and it got me, wouldn't change it for the world and I loved having my mother at home and not working and all those women were like second mothers they told each other everything so they watched out for each other and the children, my mother loved Dennis mother ninny she would say look into my gravy eyes and you will see bisto it was her joke she had brown eyes. My mother is May Manning. Thanks lads.😉👍

I had to come on this video to say thank you for the new uploads thank you so much im from NZ I'm Maori have no ties to this channel but found it in lockdown and watched them all and now I feel like an Irishman a part of some family from Tramore which I want to visit now cos of this channel. But thank you for the new interviews and uploads I think they are a treasure for us all and for their families to have a visual diary of their elders explaining life back in the day. Not always easy but so much different to where we are today. Let us never forget these people and stories and thank you for sharing Waterford with us all. ❤

Hey! :) I was asking about this a while back. Now it may well be a spooky coincidence but in 2019 I lost a small notebook with poetry and lyrics in it and messed around with the Adele chords after reading some Yeats one day a few weeks before it got lost. It's pretty much the same music and lyrics as that bit. Like I said it could just be a spooky coincidence but if there's any hope of finding that notebook I have to look. I was pointed in the direction of Joeface Meagher who said he'd track who came up with that bit just in case

John could share the secrets to upload & avoid the digital police. It could be essential to upload many other Series: Bruno Cremer as Maigret in English, Avengers 1970s, Shultzmeister, Arsene Lupin, Departament S, and other dinosaurious with interesting movements...
