I don't get it about Dismember on Oracle. Why should they play Oracle when the library is not empty? And if they plan to empty it after Oracle's trigger goes on the stack, how does it matter that you kill the Oracle?
@@SuperUskebasi if Doomsday goes for Oracle with an empty library, you can force them to draw a card (and lose the game) at instant speed with Kozilek’s Command. So Dismember becomes the other side of that squeeze
Awesome stuff! I was the first round opponent, apologies for taking so long to concede. I didn't have MTGO chat on by default. I lacked familiarity with the matchup and was a bit dissapointed that I missed a Reclaimer for Talon Gates line on Salvagers at the end, haha

Really cool so see high level legacy! I just have a small ask. Can you please make the cards as big as possible? I don't know any of them and it's hard to see. Especially in the sideboard and deck techs

Hey Max. Round 8 opponent here. GGs and cool to see you 5-0 a LCQ with a similar list. In G3 when I kept the Karn in hand and got punished with Grief I was assuming you had a FoW since you didn’t shuffle with Ponder. The next turn I could get Vexing Bauble and replay Karn with protection to lock down all your lands with Key+Coating. Obviously feels silly seeing the other side 😂. GL in the qualifier in a couple weeks!
why dont you play limited if you dont like powerful cards ? it is very easy for online players to ask for bans whereas paper players just cannot switch to another deck that easy .... SO CALL FOR someone to get fired at the play design / play testing team but not for a BAN sir best regards
@@mircodurrbaum9064 all good! I love legacy and it’s been my primary format for the past dozen years. The UB Scaminator deck is currently a bit too strong relative to the other decks, which is why I played it and did my part to have 6 UB Scaminator in the top 8 of this 290 player tournament, as well as be 17 of the top 32 finishes.
@@MaxtortionMTG went 9th in a 76 player paper event 2 weeks ago playing UB scam in which 1 UB scam list managed to get t8 result ..... i left modern because of grief thats why i would tend to completeley sell out of magic if grief gets banned in legacy .. theres my salt from ^^
Depends on the deck you’re playing. Leyline of the Void is great out of things like KarnForge but weaker in Rescaminator, as your opponent can bounce it as the game drags on, ignore it with Frog, or just reanimate your stuff instead of theirs.
If you check out my Eldrazi video from last week, I use Leyline of the Void to beat Rescaminator several times in a row because my plan is to run them over with the aggressive creatures before they have time to bounce the Leyline and reanimate a big creature.
With the next ban announcement being August 26, I hope they act earlier! They've banned offcycle before, and they can do it again. We just gotta believe
1:19:57 In game 3 vs Painter instead of casting Stifle on Servant you casted Force pitching Daze... which in turn was countered by vexing bauble. Im not quite sure if Stifle even works on Painter as I think its ETB ability is static and not a trigger.
My plan was to Force pitch Daze, and then Stifle the trigger generated by Vexing Bauble (that's countering the Force), letting the Force resolve on Painter. You're correct that I wouldn't be able to stifle the Painter ability, and it wasn't my intention to do so.
17:20 I don't understand why you don't just cast a command for x=2 , made 2 spawn and draw or exil the battlemage , and than cast your 2 heralds ( you can also cast command twice in the same process) You are at 3 anyway , you die to fleshraker in many topdecks , you have to find your red sources this turn , I think double command was the right way , will be happy to have your point of view about this :)
I didn't think that any card drawn that turn would change my play of double Herald, and wanted my next draw step already in hand / known to me, so I could make my decisions with the Kozilek's Commands with the most information available. It's pretty minor, but it's why I decided that sequencing.
i really think a urborg would be nice in this deck. nothing is better than a eye of ugin that can tap for mana. also helps with your ancient tombs not dealing a lot of damage, cost for dismember becomes better and when leyline of the void gets bounced, you can recast it. all tutorable by sowing when you need.
I was playing a Yavimaya (green is relevant, not black/Urborg) until very recently, and think it's a solid inclusion. It just didn't make the cut as I wanted the lands I'm currently playing more than Yavimaya.
This is awesome, I'm glad the Eldrazi deck got some updates with MH3. Is it no longer worth running Chalice of the Void in Eldrazi? I know Eldrazi Stompy decks as recently as last year ran Chalice, but maybe it's not worth it anymore?
@@XR_TRON the verdict is still out on Chalice, but the majority of lists are running it. I don’t believe it’s bad, but as of right now, I prefer the cards I’m running over it. It’s a little hard to reliably cast turn 1 in this list, and the combo decks are pretty well-suited toward beating it, since they combo with mostly 0s but have veil of summer. This means that if you play it on zero, they just veil and combo off, and if you set it to 1, they can ignore it. Very good against Delver when you’re on the play, but so is presenting a threat. On the draw, spending your first turn not presenting a threat feels like a way to lose the race.
Missed lethal R6G2 2:32:14. Playing Linebreaker -> Linebreaker gives you 6 eldrazi in play going into combat. That's 18 trampling power + 2 from Fleshraker, and you can still cast the Flute off the spawns after the Linebreaker triggers resolve.
I'm very confused at why at 39m49s your wastescape battlemage costs only 1 colorless and 1 blue when kicked. Shouldn't the kicker still cost 1U even if Eye of Ugin is in play?
Utilizing the kicker increases the cost of the spell as it's being cast, so Eye of Ugin sees that. To break it down, the Wastescape battlemage's base cost of 1C is added to the kicker cost of 1U, creating a total cost of 2CU to kick it with the bounce mode. To cast Wastescape Battlemage with that kicker, I have to pay 2CU. Since Eye of Ugin sees the 2CU cost and reduces it by 2 (generic), I end up with CU as the cost requirement that I had to actually tap mana to pay. Let me know if that wasn't clear, since it's a definitely a bit weird.
Thanks! I'm really proud of how I played that, as early as Turn 1, deciding that I was going to try to "break serve" by leveraging my opponent's Ancient Tomb to my advantage. I think if I had played most defensively, I would've been crushed. Go go Eldrazi Linebreaker!
In round 3 match 1 vs painted you had an unlikely out. 3/48 or a little better than a 6% chance to live another turn. You could have dress downed and drawn one of the 3 stifles you had left. After that you'd have to draw a cantrip into witherbloom command or just straight witherbloom command.
Nulldrifter draws 2 cards on a cast trigger, meaning that it still draws 2 with a dress down in play and regardless of whether it’s countered. In addition, it flies, its 4/4 stat block means that it eats Delver/DRC, and annihilator is an absolutely busted ability.
1:02:49 I’d also discard at least one frog - you won’t have enough time to get them all down. And you can easily get them on a 3 turn clock by further growing later.
Looks like I was too optimistic on WotC’s willingness to ban Grief. At least this deck was a blast and we can keep rewatching the video and pretend we live in a Grief-free utopia 🏡

Hey, thanks for the vid. Always appreciate more infect content. Sam Dams recorded a 4:1 league with the Nadu built. That said, both in his video and yours the bird got very limited screen time, so I'm not a 100% sold. I guess time will tell. I think boarding out glistener elf so aggressively is debatable. While the deck doesn't depend on the T2 kills and can play longer games, the fact that you can threaten it so early is huge and severly restricts your opponents play choices during the first couple of turns. This is also why I'm not a fan of the berserk-less versions - If you have two berserks and 6+ cantrips to find them, the opponent gumming up the ground is not as big of an issue. In this list, I'd probably shave the Hedge Maze (entering tapped is too much of a drawback with this deck) and maybe an Embiggen to make room for them.
It makes sense that my frustration with Glistener Elf is releated to the lack of Berserk to push damage through. Good overall analysis and input for how to rebuild the deck going forward.
That play in match one with the Mystic Sanctuary > Meltdown was really cool. I would definitely have burned the Pending in hand but you saw 3 turns ahead

I saw that video with Quicken + Unearth to beat Bowmaster triggers, which blew my mind But I don't understand the benefit of Quicken tech without Unearth. You claim 1:50 that you can Consider + Quicken and Reanimate w Bowmaster triggers on the stack, but Consider + Quicken makes 2 Bowmaster triggers and Reanimate targeting Thoracle loses you 2 life upon resolution. The outcome is the same as if you made an Edge + Edge pile, and in fact costs more life than a Consider -> hard-cast Thoracle line. (The craziest part about that Quicken + Unearth video was that they untapped at 1 life vs Bowmaster and won anyway, thanks to the loss of no life with Unearth). Am I missing a scenario where UUB + losing 2 life w Reanimate is a better line than other "typical" piles? Thanks for the video!
Great analysis and I mostly agree with what you said! Only having 1 edge is part of the issue, and is a cost of the tempo aspect here, but you’re completely right that without unearth, it isn’t a painless win here. If only Grief was 1BB (can you imagine?!) Quicken has other applications, fortunately. Instant speed reanimate is just sick in general, and it also becomes possible to end step a Doomsday (quicken, dark rit, Doomsday, for instance). (Mostly that video from m_himukai made my head explode and I threw quicken into the deck on that metric alone)
