I wish people would stop shortsightedly looking at this cutscene as "Gadriel's Main Character moment" and saw it for what it was: Gadriel's stubbornness, having grown from his suspicions, in action. He wishes to be free of Titus's bizarre, and from his perspective borderline heretical behavior after having commandeered Sergeant Gadriel's Squad and doing such unorthodox things, but doesn't have the guts to say it, and so he charges in headlong on his own initiative rather than an order from Titus in defiance, even if it was only for a few seconds. Titus coming to Gadriel's aid without his request, and not speaking a word to him when returning Gadriel his Bolt Pistol, was Titus's non-verbal way of saying "If we are to succeed and you are to survive, we must trust one another in the moment as Brothers that we will do what is best for each other, even if questions go unanswered and we are in the shadow of doubt".
I like how it is also insinuated by Lord Calgar that Titus was "accidently" accused of heresy and served time. Once he found out he "sent word". Like, bruh it was 200 years.
They did a great job with making the characters seem dynamic and distinct. My favorite argument was when Titus gets called out for withholding information, immediately after he's called out the Captain for the same. I also liked that in some ways, Titus is still the headstrong and opinionated leader that he always has been. You can see the complexity of him, the good and the bad that comes with that, how he can inspire and make brilliant decisions, but that in isolation is can look like he's just going off on a tangent. With all the implications of deceit and heresy that could lead to.
Its closer than either side is willing to admit. Some of the books wrote Spartans like Matt Ward Era Ultramarines without helments. But when both are big properties written by many many different authors there are inevitably inconsistencies. So the halo fanboys will cherry pick examples of Spartains at their most ludicrous and SMs at their weakest while ignoring lore that makes SM look stronger and Spartains weaker, meanwhile 40k fanboys will do the same in their own favour. But as a relatively unbiased source who likes both properties, from the dozen or so 40k and Halo books Ive read IMO Spartans and Astartes are relatively even in terms of physical attributes and armor, but astartes are given a big advantage in their specialised weaponry while most spartans are just given standard issue ballistic weapons. They also have a huge advantage in numbers, there were less than a hundred in the original spartan program whereas there are around a thousand SM chapters with around a thousand in each. But at the end of the day, as with every "my favourite imaginary character could beat up your favourite imaginary character" debate, it ultimately depends on whos writing the encounter.
@@sernoddicusthegallant6986 I actually like both but I have to say that the Spartans over all are lesser than the Space Marines. That said the only Spartans I think they have the right to be spoken of like this are the Spartan 2's as they were the best of the lot. Spartans do not have redundant organs nor do they have organs that clot wounds like Space Marines. Lastly I have no read one single instance of a Spartan 2 having several organs flat our destroyed and continuing the fight while there are near countless instances of Space Marines losing a heart, a lung and a limb who keep on fighting. I think the Spartans are more heroic though hands down but of course that was kind of the story purpose unlike the Astartes minus the odd chapter or two. All that said I can not see why the two would fight if they met however as the Astartes would see the Spartan fighting xenos and more than likely join the frey on the UNSC's side at which point the Covies would hear boss music begin to play.
Some of the cutscenes are a real treat honestly had a blast with this game. Had to immortalise the ending with my brothers on my channel 1 of our best experiences as a group 👊

Love the small detail of how the gargoyles swoop in to attack the turret but find an inanimate object, so they just chill there for the squad to take them out as they exit. And the turret's just spinning around uselessly because it's out of missiles :D
@@spaghettimkay5795 this remind me of metal gear when kojima switch from David Hayter to Kiefer Sutherland to vice venom snake and he nailed it perfectly 😎😎
