I'd give my right leg to go back 🤣 I sound like my Da sounded to me when I was 13 and he was introducing me to his punk and ska P-Rock documentary is out soon, seen that? Unfortunately can't make it to London for the premiere!
I had this when I was a kid and I think my perception of it was funny cos I thought he was like this old man in a ska band based on his voice - like he didn’t grow up or something but it was kinda catchy so I gave it a chance
Saw these at the Oxford Zodiac on the Moonska Europe tour in 2003ish. Great band to see live and had a beer and chat with them after their set. Top guys. Also loved that tune on P-rock. What a channel
The ska in this song is some of, if not the, best ska I've ever heard. I would say only second to Superman by Goldfinger. Love second wave ska but 3rd wave ska is my absolute favorite even today. I still listen to all the bands from the 90s. I've seen the toasters twice and unfortunately haven't heard this song live. I asked Bucket why they don't play it and he said he's been thinking about putting it back in the line up. This was a few years ago though. Extremely under rated song. The bass really ties this song together.
Big Up the Rude Boys and Real Skinheads ! One of the Best Mixed Race Bands so Jog on any Racists ! Pauline Looking Great and Proving Black don't Crack !
Checked the clock when I got home And realized I was alone Sat for hours by the window Wonderin' where did you go? Couldn't eat or sleep at all Took the pictures off the wall Paced the place as time moves slow And I'm wondering where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go? I wanna know! Lit a cigarette I couldn't smoke Wound the clock until it broke Went to bed then took a shower Stared at TV for an hour Did the dishes, made the bed Read a book I've never read Any minute you will show And I'm wonderin' where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go? I wanna know! Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go? I opened the fridge, I opened a beer (Where did you go?) And played a tape I couldn't hear Emptiness began to grow (Where did you go?) And I'm wondering where did you go? Watched the sun come up from the back stairs (Where did you go?) Thought about the last few years I lost control, I screamed, I cried (Where did you go?) I punched a pole and went inside Packed my things called a friend Wished this emptiness would end Wrote a note then tore it up Poured the beer into a cup Sat on the couch, drank it slow Wonderin' where did you go? I realized I couldn't stay Grabbed my things and I went away Where'd you go? Where'd you go? I wanna know!
I'm originally a Brit and a few months ago here in New England a friend of mine told me about The Toasters/Bosstones. Back in England I was a fan of Madness,The Specials,The Jam,The (English) Beat etc.
i remember going to the toasters website in 97 and this video was on there as a 30 second clip in real video format. buffering was horrible on 28.8kbps modem. 😂
This song is now about Dickey singing to his former bandmates, and where they went is to go get an experimental vaccine that Big Pharma tells us they'll let us know the side-effects of in 40 years.
