I was an undocumented illegal alien from India living with a Mexican family of 10! This is where I was introduced to the legendary Juan Gabriel. They kept warning me " you think it's one song but if you listen carefully it's 5 songs in one number" I remember vividly it was these song performed live only this time he had one black male and 2 black female as backup singers. Juan Gabriel had the same costume seen here. I don't sing but I'm a recording Engineer in Hollywood for 35 yrs now. Even then I realized what a tremendous singer with mind-blowing pitch control and continuity. I fell in love with him. I'm so glad not just the Mexico but the whole Latin America embrace Juan Gabriel! I'm so happy to see your joy in your face reacting to this performance
Hello John ! Hopefully everything is going well over there. First - off want to thank you for your reaction to Divo De Jusrez, our loving and unforgetable greatest maestro Juan Gabriel ( R I P ) I think this video is of his first concert at El Palacio De Bellas Artes in México City. Way back on 2013 he ' ve give his last concert 3 years before he passed away. There is a video of that concert the song is ABRAZAME MUY FUERTE , Juan Gabriel at El Palacio De Bellas Artes, as far as know this video I am reffering to, have over 400 millions of views. Title of this video is as I wrote above. I also recomend this video of Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán con La Orquesta Sinfónica de Querétaro. ( El Pastor ). Arturo Vargas.. Greetings from Chihuahua, México May God Our Lord Bless You abundantly.
I noticed this is your most viewed video. I would like to suggest you reacting to Gregory Lemarchal's rendition which came before. Or even Daniel Belavoine's original version. Imho, Gregory Lemarchal is probably the best, as it is less "operatic" and much more heart-wrenching, especially knowing his life story (he had cystic fibrosis and fought hard to be able to sing despite this, before eventually dying at age 24)
I have been a Roy Orbison fan since he first became famous. When he did the Black and White night show, his voice showed definite regression in tonal quality. He died not to long after this show. If you truly want to critique his voice, I recommend that you go to his much earlier recordings and personal appearances. His voice was still very special even at the time of that show, but his earlier version of his voice was timeless in quality.
George really flows. I sing karaoke and really reverse engineer his vocals. His vocals dance through the. music. Like even the way he sings ...im goin crazy..has a specific little twist in there. He knows exactly when and how.to.phrase something..totaly natural to him
I cried so hard I couldn't see the first time I heard this performance. I'm always singing or humming when I'm home or in my car, and I was in choir for many years at school. But this? This was like hearing the voice of the divine. This was the purest expression of the human spirit & a breathtaking display of our greatest evolutionary advantages, communication & community. Absolutely emotionally devastating in the best possible way!
Hello 🙂 im like 4 years late to this video buuuuut im just wondering if you've reacted to Tommy Johansson yet? Check out his version of the fantom of the opera 😉
I’m 81 and Elvis voice in this thing time evolved deeper tones. He hit the low notes and transitions were brilliant. The excitement is that you don’t know what he is going to do next. He tricks you. I still get goosebumps and I listen to his music everyday. Love your analysis. Please do more Elvis. He left us a huge legacy. He was still in his prime. His decline physically began after 1973 after his divorce.
I feel like Jacob is literally painting our ears with sound. Sometimes the paint is thick and envelopes you, other times it is thin and light and buoyant. I play this song at least once a day. No exaggeration. 12:12
Barbra She has so much technique, I repeat, so much technique that it is ABSURD to think that she didn't even study for this, 99% of the existing techniques that fit into the human voice, she reproduces with greater naturalness.
This comment gives me an opportunity to explain my approach to reaction videos. First, I am using copyrighted material, and to be considered "fair use," I need to do more than just listen. Second, I am an educator who uses great performances to explain vocal concepts and artistry. I make these videos for people who are interested in the deeper aspects of singing rather than just watching someone enjoy a performance. There is nothing wrong with these types of videos, and I also enjoy them, but they are not what I do.
I'm male, born in 1972. I'm not a big music enthusiast; I mainly listen to whatever is played on the radio. Throughout my whole life, I haven't had a favorite song that I could listen to 164 times and still not get tired of it... until I discovered Disturbed's version of The Sound of Silence. I've now spent 4 NIGHTS in a row listening to and watching this song, along with dozens and dozens of reaction videos... And I have to say, this song now owns me. Completely. I've never felt anything like this before. From the reaction videos, I've noticed that interestingly, this song touches men around my age SO deeply. Tears. Goosebumps. Repeatedly and constantly. I think I might need to see a doctor. But then again, I don't want to - it's SUCH a good song.
I’ve been listening to this song since I heard it in Say Anything. You just made me listen to it so differently than I ever have. Wow! The drummer the bass. I never really tuned into them. Thanks to you I will never miss them again. Thanks so much for the wonderful education on something I thought I knew ❤
You may not be an anime fan (I don’t know for sure) but PLEASE react to Project Emu the full version. Attack on Titan has an incredible soundtrack but the LIVE version blows me away no matter how many times I watch it. I tend to get emotional in two songs too, just because I know the scenes they relate to, and how gorgeous the music is.
"My keyboard doesn't go that high..." Priceless. Thank you, you are an inspiration, even to a measly guitar player like myself who considers the voice the ultimate, most emotional and PERFECT instrument.
Thank you so much for truly reacting to that “experience”. Letting the emotion flow. (Not trying to analyze it while it was happening). That’s exactly how I responded as well. I found you after I watched his video about 100 times. 😀 I found Jacob years ago and spent days and weeks mesmerized by his genius. I was lucky enough to be in attendance with Bobby Mcferrin when he played the audience in a “similar” way (and we all played our bodies like percussion instruments). One of my few regrets in life tho, is not going to see Jacob when I had a chance. I would love to be in that room “feeling” that. Profound.
Please react to Jacob Collier & The Aeolians - World O World. I sincerely hope your Patreons will pick up on this video and suggest it to you. I really enjoy your reactions and would love to hear yours to this one. Thanks!
@John, it's not just the complexity, or the beauty, or the technique - it's the sub-conscious, or other-conscious over powering emotion - I guess 'joy' is the best way I can describe it - but he makes music that opens us up in a way, gives access to another type of sense that is literally overwhelming. It makes one both vulnerable and fantastically joyous.
Hi John, thank you for sharing. This is fabulous. Hope you don't mind the questions: How did you know that you had vocal tremor? Did it take the doctor or consultant long to recognise what the problem was? Did you recognise it or was it what they recognised?
It came on gradually. I lost a lot of weight very fast, which created vocal weakness. I dismissed the tremor as part of the weakness. I was later doing a recording session and I could not control my voice. I suspected it was a tremor and it was quickly confirmed by an experienced speech language pathologist. There is currently no known cause or cure.

Great tips. I'm a salesman and always end up with swollen chords at the end of the day. Another great video would be the steps to take to prevent it. How to build endurance so that the voice is conditioned to bear such strain without fatigue.
