Impressive but for that long of a driveway I’d buy a cheap plow truck not road worthy

Amazing footage! That looks like a huge fish (do you know what kind?) the bird caught! The fish was struggling, but the hungry Heron managed to fully consume (alive?!) it all okay? It looked like the unlucky thing was still desperately kicking before staring down that long neck! I wonder, does the large fish stand any chance of escaping if eaten in that condition? Maybe it can turn around inside the elastic throat/stomach and has a chance of survival here.

Whenever I do a lot of waiting for one, it's usually a lot of waiting. I try and keep a gopro handy when I can too. When I'm outside but least expecting to come across anything specific, I'll see something and do my best to stay still and zoom in and ignore the bugs to try and capture.

I wish my 2002 Rancher had heated hand grips. I have thought about seeing what the aftermarket is for heated grips but I dont know, just another thing to wire up onto it and the battery location sucks so much on it
@Jamie_Outdoor
@Jamie_Outdoor 6 месяцев назад
I'm not sure if you are able to add them factory for that year. Mine were the grips and the accessory plug. These heat the thumb and the grip. I'm not sure I notice my thumb getting hot, but I don't notice it getting cold. The grips at certain settings and Temps actually start to feel hot, hot enough I have to stop and immediately turn them down a level. Try Honda parts or maybe a local Honda or motorcycle/ atv shop might be comfortable installing grips if you aren't. Good luck!

Suggestion when stuck like that. Put it in reverse and lightly press the throttle and stand up and rock the machine side to side. Using your body weight to help get traction on the spinning wheels forward and reverse.

Can you share what options are on your machine? Automatic transmission, Electric shift, 2x4 4x4 option, motor size, etc.
@Jamie_Outdoor
@Jamie_Outdoor 6 месяцев назад
Hi this is the 24 Honda rancher 420. Semi auto foot shift, 4x4. It is the solid rear axle if your comparing machines, not the rear independent suspension. The plow is kfi, warn 2500 winch and currently using the kfi synthetic plow strap. The grips are the honda heated grips, they are really great to have.

@@Jamie_Outdoor I have 3 of the 2004 -2007 Honda Rancher 400 AT with optional 2 wheel / 4 wheel auto or manual electric shift on the handlebar machines. Awesome machines and have been very low maintenance. I wish Honda still built these machines.

Wolf pits are deep pits, dug into soft soils, normally near farmland. The pit itself would have been covered by branches and baited with carrion such as a dead cow. The wolf would be attracted by the smell, fall in the pit and be unable to scale the steep sides; it could then be killed. -wikipedia

Do you feel like the first gear on a rancher is low enough long term for snow plowing or a foreman would be better? And do you find the lever for backing up annoying over time?
@Jamie_Outdoor
@Jamie_Outdoor 7 месяцев назад
I think the first gear is fine, the lever is a little weird at first, but I went with the geared Honda vs the belt drive options for the utility aspect. I'm not sure if the weight difference of the foreman would be much of an advantage, I haven't tried it. I did initially look at a foreman and the owner thought the rancher would fit my needs better, overall I'm pretty happy despite not being quite as smooth as some atvs to ride, it pulls logs very well, I'll have to do some videos on that sometime. Hope this helps!
@bakarikonte
@bakarikonte 7 месяцев назад
@@Jamie_Outdoor Thanks for the info, I hear people say foot shift is more reliable but im not sure id'like it with big boots and some snow always going in the footwells, im torn between a honda footshift or es or a kodiak 450.
@Jamie_Outdoor
@Jamie_Outdoor 7 месяцев назад
@bakarikonte I was wearing size 12 muck boots for reference. It does take a few minutes to warm up and let the oil move or its tough to shift when cold though, the first time experiencing that I thought something was wrong. I didn't get much snow in floorboard/ foot area, the fenders extend past the wheels a bit so it keeps the rider pretty clean, although I don't use the rancher for mudding so you'd have to check out those other videos. Also the plow strap for winter use definitely was helpful vs having a messy birds nest cable from plowing. Good luck!
