The Board Game Gateway group is a bunch of friends who all share a love for getting around the table and sharing experiences together. The creation of the podcast and the youtube channel is an excuse for them to meet up on a regular basis and discuss what it is about this hobby they love so much and play games with each other.
More than that though they want to share this passion with you and give you a place to learn about why you may enjoy it as well. We hope to be able to get guests and members of the community into the podcast in the future, and hope that you will want to come and join our community.
1:37:05 I've always felt that the mark of a good game is that it's fun even when you lose. I'm glad to know that the developer is conscious of that as well. Great interview, and great game!
It is something we are working on. Thanks for bringing it up as well because i wasn;t sure through it. First couple of times we are trying out the new audio gear. It also doesn't help our laughs are 4x as loud as speaking volume
I've had my first two games tonight as Storyteller and it was a blast everyone loved it as i did and I don't really like social deduction games but this game doesn't feel like just a game it feels like the village really comes to life and as a storyteller it's your duty to keep that momentum going. The first game was a bit challenging to get everything almost to work but when it works it's just fantastic. Sometimes i couldn't even hide my smirks😅
We are so glad to hear that. Neeber is planning on doing his first Storyteller Duty for TB in the near future as well We think one of the hardest things to do is not give it anyway whilst you are listening to everyone talk.
@@bggateway i wish him the best of lucks, yeah it's a bit hard to hide your reactions to the chaos you've created 😅 The best part was when the game ended and everyone was talking about what they did wrong or how someone played really good and as the storyteller explaining your decisions is really rewarding
Was good to get behind the microphone. Also THUMBS UP FOR GOOSE!!! Doggo just wanted to be part of the podcast after 53 episodes. Doggo at @1:54 & @15:26
I really detest this game. I've tried. I really have. How can a game with such widespread acclaim be such a... slog? But it is. I hate it. There's a little bit of strategy and then a whole lot of dice chucking. I just don't get it.
That’s fair enough, it’s not for everyone. For us it’s the mixture of the deck building vs push your luck. Trying to guess the plans based on what your opponent is building and countering.
Thats the plan, we are in the works of the Sects and Violence Script with Bad Moon Rising to be come shortly :) We also have a couple of custom scripts that we have played that we thought we may talk about
Great interview, I liked hearing his own stories about his favorite games and how certain things like revolutionary came just from necessity. I also like his approach that everyone in the game is invested to the end, no one wins or loses before the game ends. Him constantly coming up with new ideas for clocktower and wanting to support the game as long as there is interest makes me very hopeful this game will keep getting new content for a long time to come.
They were, getting to hear how he came up with everything was really fascinating. We particularly liked hearing how he made the Storyteller role fun with the "mights" and "shoulds" added in.
The game day was amazing. We were the first to pull out Hues and Cues which I had been dying to try for ages! Thanks also to Damien on teaching us RA. My teenage son really enjoyed that one and the only reason we picked it up was because of the egyptian theme!
We are so glad you had a great day. We were hoping to provide a welcoming, safe and fun experience for everyone and their families!! Safe to say I think we achieved that.
A fantastic interview with a fantastic game designer. We are greatly appreciative of Steven coming to the Board Game Gateway Studio to chat with us and we are thankful to the team from @BloodontheClocktower for helping us organise this.
Still thinking about the time that I was the Lunatic in Bad Moon Rising, and someone else convinced everyone they were the Lunatic (they were a demon) and I went the whole game thinking I was the demon 😭😭

Very informative video. I loved to see this game in action. Playing Stellaris since it came out but I wanted a shorter game experience. Definitely will buy Stellaris Nexus.
