Class, elegance, technique, genius, control, vision, essentiality, wisdom, courage, authority, poetry, art and pure beauty.. with Ronaldinho (de Assis Moreira) and Zinedine Zidane were the best who stroked a ball over a field of green grass. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and forever (a football lover)
Laudrup was a genius player. If you look at the sheer quality of the chances he created, you almost can’t believe that he has only 35 career assists. Let that sink in: 35!
35 seems a bit low to me. I think he had around 20 at his first season at Madrid only. On his all career he probably is closer to 100, if not a bit more.
As this low figure of 35 kept bugging me (37 on transfermarker) I counted the ones on the video 'Ultimate Passing Compilation', and I think on this video alone, I saw around 70 distinct assists in club and national team. A bit more realistic.
I’ve been watching Michael Laudrup since i was a kid, and i still get mesmerized by his exstreme abillities. A very special player, wich talent wise, few players in history can match
Probably I watched this maybe more than 10 times. Still priceless, timeless, and splendid. He is indisputably a great master of the killer pass and visionary architect of deep, long passes. A playmaker whose style became a role model and source of inspiration for the likes of Xavi and Iniesta. They concede this in their auto-biographical tales. Love and respect from New York for one of the best playmakers in soccer history: MICHAEL LAUDRUP.
One of the best testimony of how good and important Laudrup was to football, is to know that nearly all Spanish midfielders who were born between 1980 and 1990, and who later dominated world football 20-30 years later, cite Laudrup as being their role model.
This! David Silva and Iniesta are the ones who are totally vocal about him being their idol. But even otherwise, the fact that that WC winning Spanish side under Del Bosque had an absolutely stacked midfield, right from attacking mids to defensive mids with playmaking as a crucial aspect of all of these players' skillset can be attributed to the massive influence the Barca Dream Team probably had on that entire generation, and this man Laudrup was the "brain" of that team. And just thinking about how his style of play was visually appealing while extremely effective at the same time, there's no question he was a massive influence on that generation you mentioned. And just to cement this further, he was honoured as the "Best player in Spain in the last 25 years". You don't get that sort of an accolade especially if you are a foreigner if you've not actually left behind an impact of that sort.
It makes sense why we connect with this video, if we take into consideration what Jordan Peterson teaches us. Its when competence is heightened to the levels of arts, and the story this video creates, resonates within all of us. The unsung legend, unsung because he lacked the drive to become more selfish in the pursuit of egotistical greatness. He was a team-player, who knew he could win trophies by raising the morale and confidence of his team and organization, with his generous playstyle. Then when JordanP, tells us about the Alpha-male, and what is expected of such one, i can feel in my eyes soaking up, due to what is praised in Football, is a misinterpretation of alpha-males needing to be brutes and individualists. Just as it is misinterpreted in society. I cry everytime i watch this video. The Messiah who is Laudrup, willingly sacrificed his own glory for the team, but is viewed as a coward for not submitting to realise "his full potential".
If someone asks "what does it mean when you say: the beautiful game played in a beautiful way? " show them this video, they'll know without a doubt what you are on about 🙏🏻👀
Had the chance to go to Nante see Denmark play against Brazil - never knew it was the last presents by the Laudrup Brothers on the national team. When International Football was not that much on 1 TV channel in DK - we had the top matches of Madrid - Barcelona... and every time Michael got the ball you got goosebumps up your arms.. Do Something Magic, Laudrup. The Elegantier of Football.
I know it isn't as important as life or death, but this day is stamped into my memory with sadness. I loved every match i saw with them. It was just passion, control and skills. You never new what han genious moves especially Michael would do. Brian retired too early. Michael could easily have played for 2-3 more years at top level, but I understand his decision. Even to this day I have never seen a player with Michaels vision and passing accuracy.
@@louayker4249 yes I know. Most of the 90’s players that signed for Nike and adidas were media hyped. I can remember that Nike comercial with van gaal as the helicopter pilot, that was a sick commercial tho, but the players featuring in it where incredibly media hyped after.
Zidane was a bit more technical and all-rounded than Laudrup, and had his best performances on the biggest stages, so he definitely got a lot more attention than Laudrup. Especially in the 2000s when more widespread television broadcasting meant more people could watch the World Cup, Zidane put in absolutely incredible performances for France and his story of coming out of retirement to save France was newspaper bait. Laudrup on the other hand would never get that sort of opportunity with Denmark and actually chose not to join the Danish team when they won the Euros, which would’ve given his name much more legendary status.
I remember World cup in 98 Denmark played the last game againts brazil and both the Laudrups brother were so good. Denmark could have won that cup. But a great brazil team stop it. Man after that both the Laudrups stop .. but thar game againts brazil i Will never forget and i was 8.
