This don't work. The point of a pilot hole is to remove material so that ther is less compressed material and forces to split the wood. In this case nothing is removed so it is just as likely to split as before.
Put a Slinky over the pole and secure it to the bottom of the feeder. You will laugh at the squirrels try to climb the pole. When they grab the Slinky they will go back to the ground. 😂😂😂
