*I would never put 240 HP in an X1/9.* It's not designed for it. Especially with how much it likes to rust, that much stress can actuate the weak points in the body's manufacturing. There's almost no protection in a crash. I would give it 100 HP at the rear wheels max. And definitely tires that grip better. This car feels like 100 when it's going 50 MPH. That's what it was made for. *Where is this particular car 13 years later?*
240HP would be fine. X1/9s were WAY overbuilt to work with "future" projected US safety regulations that actually never came about. This car could have actually been manufactured potentially 250-350 lbs lighter. If this car freaked you out then absolutely stay far (VERY FAR) away from the Lotus Elise or Exige lol. Ultra lightweight chassis and middling (150-250) horsepower is where the goods are at, at least if designed correctly, and the X1/9 was. Easily a 250HP car, especially with modern suspension components, tires, and wheels added.
This is awesome man!! I love the way the Fiat X 1/9 looks but it's powerplant was underwhelming to say the least. Putting the Honda VTEC k20 was a neat idea to make it a proper sports car like it should have been.
Both drivers drove over the center line and pushed oncoming traffic out of the way on a 2-lane mountain road, their vehicles need to be impounded and their licenses revoked.
Man I wish we had dash cameras in 1979. I had a brand new 1979 as my second X 1/9 with three piece compomotive rims and P6s. Coming out of esses on the backroads I could nearly touch the rear grill of any 911S with my front bumper. And yes I would lose 5 car lengths or more every straightaway only to be right on the grill coming out of the next turns. I loved that car. It has been so long since I lived those memories. THANK YOU.
Stupid, reckless, dangerous. The person in the Element DID NOT sign up to be have their life put at risk for your pissing contest. This street racing bullshit makes the entire car community look bad. You have the money to K20 swap an x1/9 - you have the money for a $150 track day. It's laughable that Midwest would upload this to their official channel. I actually had some chrome trim pieces for my 124 in their cart - nope, going with Auto Ricambi now.
Lol, you caught up to a car that wasn't running from you. Also, I'm sure the innocent human beings trying to transport their loved ones appreciate it. What a flipping LOSER!!!
Ferrari its a fiat for rich bimbos. X1 9 beautiful, Ferrari bah. The best Ferrari ever made is a...... Stratus. Lancia. Eh eh eh. And most beautiful too. If it wasn,t fiat or Alfa Romeo, no Ferrari for nobody.
That must be if you pay someone else to do all the fabrication. On Xwebs forum you can find some good build threads of people who have done or are doing this
