3:05 interesting. That’s huge trust to drink the water. What does the sign say? Thanks for sharing the beauty. Ps I always wonder. As a non hiker. What is the difference between walking and hiking? 😊🇨🇦🍁👍
@appalachianwanderseeker
@appalachianwanderseeker 20 дней назад
Learning to rely on others for the essentials of life such as water when all the streams are dried up is part of the journey. There are amazing people out in the world, and so many go out of their way to help strangers on a journey, and it’s an amazing revelation in a world that is not always kind. The sign says the jugs will be refilled and not to waste the water. The difference between walking and hiking to me is that hiking generally involves a more remote area on a narrow path, although some might just call it walking as well.

When you come by those little spring access points do you still filter the water
@appalachianwanderseeker

Yes, definitely it should be filtered for safety, and if I use the water there, I filter it.

How dare you throw rocks at a bobcat protecting her young!
@appalachianwanderseeker
@appalachianwanderseeker 26 дней назад
I dared because the noise I was making wasn’t scaring her off, it was impossible to reason with her to make her realize I was no threat to her or her babies, the rock (singular) wasn’t aimed at her but rather just thrown near her in hopes it would get her to move, and because at the time I didn’t have your expert advice to come up with a better solution.

The early settlers had to move an awful lot of rocks to clear land so they could farm the land resulting in many rock fences and also used in marking property boundary lines. Very hard work. Congratulations on NY🦋❤️

Would love to know more about where you camp/sleep after hikes, logistics of having a support van, will you be able to sustain that all the way? Daily challenges, food resupply, towns you visit. I love the rock walls…but can only take so many! 😂😜
@appalachianwanderseeker
@appalachianwanderseeker 26 дней назад
I will have a bit more about where we stay in a few upcoming videos. Resupply is pretty random for me, but I will see what I can do. At times the trail does get quite boring, so thank you for the ideas of other things to focus on.

My guess would be that they don’t. There are many areas on the AT that would be difficult for those with a fear of heights.

Good of you to mention the Girl Scouts. They rarely are. It's a good program, but they just don't have the adult leaders they need. I'm a Troop Committee member of Scouting American Troop 479, Kootaga District, Buckskin Council, Ravenswood, WV, and we have a Girl Scout and Boy Scout unit. We've a couple of young ladies who can make the rank of Eagle Scout, and they're absolutely wonderful! As are their parents and other family members. Keep hiking, young ladies!
