Let me tell u maji. Delhi has a shortage of onion due to festival season. The govt has arranged a train-load of onion from Lasgaon, Maharashtra, to overcome shortage not only in Delhi but also in Lucknow. The vegetables prices are determined by marketing committees and Mandi bulk traders. Stockinsts can buy any vegetables for a particular price, not less than that. It protects the farmer. We have huge cold storage facilities, where fruits and vegetables are stored. Then there varieties, like tomato, you have organic tomato (slightly costly), farm fresh tomatoes, tomato cherries (tiny, cherry-like tomatoes), white onion as well. In case of hoarding, if govt detects, there are raids and if that does not work, we get them from Afghanistan. In the end, prices are brought down. We have very large agricultural universities from where scientists, soil experts often go out to advise farmers how to increase their produce yield without harming the soil. We have cow dung which is a natural fertiliser sold for a price. In fact there are some villages that sell organic fertilizer. Today, we have nano fertilizer, the fartilize which is provided for a large area, but it's amount is very less. This way, everyone gains. Only the greedy suffers. Vande Mataram, maji 11:44
