Finally got around to watching this show after all these years. This scene is definitely among its greats. Reminds me of the death of Optimus Prime in the original cartoon film.
“It was perfect … we were so perfect …”. That’s so heartbreaking because Aeryn and Talyn-John were so great together as lovers and warriors. This John will never know what that was like … it was their great romance and then he died. So sorrowful.
This scene is the culmination of nearly four years of fits and starts and separations and fights and confusion and anger and jealousy etc. it’s really too short because it’s the moment they finally admit to and succumb to a love that never breaks apart again. It was a huge relief to see this finally happen, but I do wish they’d had more time to air their grievances first. Aeryn looks so relieved and even puts her arms around John’s neck. It’s a little weird when John looks to the left briefly before they kiss. Not sure why he did that.
The scene prior to that, when he realizes that she was not Aeryn, is the most sensitive acting I´ve ever seen. And then he starts singing "A, B, C, D, E, F, G ...." Makes me shiver every time!
I wish I had a time machine to get back and prevent them from canceling the show. Peacekeeper Wars was awesome, but I think the full 5th season would have been a bliss!
Ironically, they're fighting about the same thing in this scene. He can't watch her leave because of what he experienced after Scorpius took over his body and killed her; she wants to leave because of what she experienced after the Crichton duplicate got killed. Essentially same wrong; two different reactions.
The amazing acting of this cast is so often overlooked, and this scene is an example. Ben Browder is so believable that you can tell the moment when Crichton dies...and Claudia Black just wrenches your soul with her grief. I miss this show so much!!
