Hey there, happy to see you here 😊 If you want to see the hydrophone in action, I also made a video where I take it on a field recording trip at a really beautiful river here in switzerland. Check it out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E0sLi-YwKkk.html Thanks for watching!
Hey welcome to my channel! Good to see you here 😊 If you want to see me build the hydrophone, I also made a video about that. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-us-q9Sdh1jU.html Thanks for watching!
This caused me to remember a project I did about 40 years ago, my memory of it is very vague but I think it was something I picked from an electronic magazine that was supposed to help in fishing, it was some kind of oscillator circuits that made some noises, I put it in a closed jar weighted down with rocks. As far as I can remember it did not help at all, I did not bring the gizmo the next times I went fishing.
Cool project! I didnt realize that being waterboarded had such ASMR potential 😂. I wonder how it would sound if you played sounds with a speaker underwater near/far away from the hydrophone. I bet it'd sound pretty unique to use the hydrophone as a weird electric guitar filter/petal
Woah, I only just now saw how few subscribers you have! You have such great production quality for how small of a channel you are, I can't wait to see you pass a million and I can say: "I was there at 1000" Subscribed!
How much of its sensitivity did you cancel by coating the sensor? Wouldn’t it be better to leave its sensing surface exposed and somehow create a seal around the transition?
I was actually thinking the same thing. Maybe I will build another one and try to compare them. But for now the quality seams to be pretty neat for my taste. But i gues it will have an impact on the sound depending on the coating you choose. Thanks for watching and your interesting comment.
If you want me to watch your full video, don't bait me into it by teasing then not playing the sound of the thing at the start... Skipped to the end and added a sponsorblock highlight so others don't have to hunt for it...
I just want to add a comment saying maybe don’t wear a black shirt when working with black stuff, I’m just at the part of the video where you’re trying to show the cap/hole and I don’t see anything but black. Cool video so far and I came here from the short too so I’m excited to see how you got it working!
Thanks a lot for watching and your feedback! Yes, I definitely get what you mean. Should improve the lighting a little for these close ups... Appreciate it!
Thank you! Yeah, thought about buying one myself as well, and might also still do that to compare the quality/sounds. But building was really rewarding, and it already got me thinking of trying to build other mics... Anyways, thanks for tuning in :)
I am a classical guitar player from India and i have been playing from past 16 years, i want to release my orignals and i have never ever uploaded anything ever. I have no one in my contacts whom i can share my stuff my every social media platform is going to be zero. Any tips coz i am freaking out. I have been planning this from years but now i am worried with everything zero on every platform. The only thing i have planned is to record a song from good studio invest a bit on music video and distrokid for audio and then video on the social media platforms
So nice to hear that you are recording and playing guitar! I think the best way is to start releasing things you made if you are happy with it. Maybe you can start sharing it with friends and family and from there it can grow. Plus creating a bit of an online presence could definitely help. I think it requires some patience on the way, so dont get discouraged at the beginning. Good luck and all the best.
Hi, I'm pretty new into field recording and wanted to ask if you are able to use your rode stereo bar with the 20cm distance between omnidirectional microphones in most of your use cases? I am asking because I saw also foldable stereo bars where you have more possibilities, from wider to closer ranges between the mics? I'm unsure if the maximum distance of 20 cm is okay, as I read mixed things online depending on the subject you want to record. My goal is to record ambiences and nature sounds (birds, rivers, wind etc) Könntest du mir da viel nen Ratschlag geben? Ganz liebe Grüße
Hey there, thanks for watching and thanks for your question. I personally really like to record with cardioid mics and the ortf setup. But if you are working with omnidirectional mics, a larger AB setup could actually also sound very good. Sometimes i use the microUsi's which are Omnidirectional, and i just click them somwhere with a large gap (ca. 1 m) and this also creates a really nice sound. So maybe if you are working with omnis its not bad if you have a stereobar which is a bit wider and gives you more options.
hey there, thanks for watching and your comment. good to hear you're also recording, I didn't fully understand your question. what do you mean by transfer one sound to another?
Sorry, my English isn't that good. What I mean is, when you said "changing the Sennheiser sound to another sound", it sounds like you used different kinds of mics to record it. How did you change the sound, it's like magic 😅 did you always record with multiple mics at the same time? and also i wanna ask, for specific field recordings like ocean waves, rain, birds, forest, do I need to use different types of mics? Is a shotgun mic enough for that? im using rode videomic ntg. Thank you so much
Ah I understand. Yes i was recording with multiple mics and devices and then i just edit the audio in my video editing software „Adobe Premiere“ and cut it together how i want. About the situation you describe i would recommend some kind of stereo setup. Stereo recording is a big upgrade especially for ambience sounds. If you use a shotgun mic all sounds will remain in the center, and you will not have any sounds on the sides. So shotgun mics are especially good for recording voices or isolated sound effects.
I can only recommend you what i am using. So the microUši by LOM are really nice and easy to set up and carry. And i also use the Røde M5 but for that you need a tripod, a stereobar and xlr cables so more to setup. And using a simple handheld recorder is always a good option. For that I am using the Zoom H5.
Thanks a lot for your comment and watching / listening. The SR3D at the end was indeed crazy, still remember the goosbumps I had up there with the wind around me. These are the moments that feel like magic. Good to see you here :)
Go to Min 5:26 and play it at 0,25 Speed = aliens are coming :). This string sounds you found is absolutely amazing! Is it possible to get this recording?
Just tried it out and you're right, pitching this one down sounds amazing haha. Thanks for your comment, really appreciate it. I am currently planing to do a full pack with many different sounds, and I will definitely include it in there as well. Stay tuned and thank you for your interest in it. If you want to make sure to not miss it i recommend to subscribe to my newsletter, I will definitely also post it there when I release it. Link is in the description.
One of you, (Thanks Davut Engin!) was kind enough to let me know that inside the mic is actually not a piezzoelectric sensor but a true condeser mic in a closed capsule. So I want to clarify what I falsly stated in the video. Nevertheless I recieved the piezzoelectric sensor that I was talking about and hope to film a video about Hydrophones and the process of building one soon. Thanks for watching and sorry for the mistake guys. Love ya'll.
5:04 me when I'm being a silly goofy guy but then I remember I'm trying to be dark and mysterious. But for real, I recently got inspired to go do exactly this out in my home town. Bought a recorder and plan to go deep into the woods. Fun video!
Are you sure this has a piezzo inside it? Its also called condenser mic. Does it have inside both of them? I’m a bit confused about it. It can take sound from air like condenser mic, but piezzo cannot get it normally. Thank you 🤗
I think you're actually right! I just read a bit more and i think it is a true condenser mic inside the small capsule. So as of my current understanding, there is no piezzoelectric sensor inside... I'm sorry for the false infos, and thanks for your comment. Really appreaciate it.
Totally relatable. The upgrade to the VideoMic NTG was absolutely worth it. Now after using it for 4 month I can say it is worth every penny. And a huge upgrade for not so much more money. I think a good mic will definitely upgrade every video setup, and the NTG was a great choice for me.
I think for that you would have to contact the company who builds the model to generate the AI music. I guess it would be in their term of usage if it's possible or not. But I have to admit that I never did this so I can't really give any advice on this topic.
A great plugin that also replicates the Space Echo is a Plugin from UAD called "Galaxy Tape Echo." I love it and it really helps drive home that classic sound! BTW, I am a singer and songwriter and RU-vidr as well from the USA and I have really been loving your content. I dig your original music too and was wondering if you'd ever be down for a collaboration? You can find links to my music on my channel but I also used to be in an EDM pop band which ill link here as I think it's more the style of your sound! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JKsJL0V5L00.html Anyways, regardless of it you want to colab I will continue to watch your content and I wish you all the best on your music journey!
