Never be upset at your haul. 😠 You are out at the beach and listening to the relaxing sounds around you. You might be with a friend for company or alone. You also found a few things you were not looking for. It wasn't a waste of time, EVER. ❤
I just love sand dollars! They are so different than other shells. Such a great almost chalky like color with a grey spotted design. (if memory serves) Gorgeous. 🐚
Miracle beach on Vancouver Island has many large sand dollars (so many that you need water shoes in order to not cut your feet) and most of the sand dollars are palm sized. If you do take sand dollars from there, make sure they are bone white, those ones are dead, live ones are black.
I try to visit FL twice a year and what I’ve noticed is that at a certain time of the year there are more seashells of a certain types on the beach than at other times. Apple Murex and Lace Murex are definitely on my list of favorite seashells.
I am the one on the dunes, drinking in the beauty for hours. When I finally come down to the waters edge to shell hunt, it is the small ones that catch my fancy, any large or perfect specimens I place in the paths of the children and elders, go back to my dune, and watch the emergence of the new shell enthusiasts, and the joy of the discovery. Life is beautiful, and the beach is distilled essence of that beauty. Good hunting to you
