I enjoyed the interview. However, I disagree with what Redbird's representatives told Mike Mitchell. I believe the Redbird is a short term investor. They move from investment to investment rather quickly. Especially if they see their investment not panning out, they pull their investment quickly and move on to the another investment. ABC and Fox are TV media organizations. What drives TV media is popularity of shows. If the show is not showing popularity quickly, it will be pulled. Remember, TV media is driven by advertising dollars. That mean advertising could be lost if a show is not producing numbers therefore the adds are not being seen by the amount of people that the want. So the bottom line for me is that Redbird, ABC and Fox are run by bottom line bean counters, not dreamers that will loose money for an extended period of time in order for their product in this case the UFL to succeed. So I give it 2 more seasons at most if the league doesn't not show significant improvement both by TV ratings and attendance. Also, expansion in 2026 could be a factor. With not expansion, I believe potential fans will lose interest in the league. Personally I have watched all game of the XFL, USFL and the UFL. It would be a lose to me. I personally believe that new ownership that see the vision of spring football and is willing to go all in.
Do you think the UFL could possibly merge with the IFL if this season does not go well ? I think it would be awesome to see the Stallions and teams like that play indoors and give the IFL National TV exposure.
I’m very worried about Friday nights in March in places like Washington? It could be brutal - and how many people are going to watch on Friday nights going against NBA , NHL and March Madness. ?
Great show Sean. I really think Mike Mitchell has his fingers on the pulse of the league. As you very well know I'm perhaps the biggest Stallions fan in the known universe. 😊 I've taken the personal steps of encouraging my family and friends to purchase season tickets to Stallions games. To my surprise most of them have been receptive to doing so. If we can get more people to reach out to family and friends we would be in a position to build a strong fan base here in Birmingham. Our Stallions are definitely worthy of better support. I would love to see us average between 16 to 18k per game next year. WE CAN DO THIS . Giddy up and Buck EM 👍 😎
I've said it before, I'll say it again (and Mike also seems to agree) - Love him. Hate him (justifiably so). UFL needs that Vince McMahan promotion juggernaut. The product is there, just need to advertise the h*ll out of it. Pay the d*mn money!!!
I would take any of these QB’s over Daniel jones as a starter. As for the UFL, out with old, in with knew. Because the QB play in the UFL has been hot garbage. Overthrown balls, under-throws, late throws. Can’t read defenses. Slow decision making. Rattled under pressure.
One thing they could really do is try to create an atmosphere. What I mean by that is, if you've ever gone to an Independent or Lower class minor league baseball game, there's a ton of random crap and characters and cool giveaways and stuff that help create sort of a fun, zany atmosphere. I think if the UFL embraces that aspect (which was helped create a lot of fun teams in the old USFL days) that will not only separate them from the NFL but help get people excited for the games.
Forgot about the draft. This draft is all fine and dandy but the key is, especially at the QB,WR&RB positions, if the player ends up with the UFL team that drafted him. If not then that team is S.O.L. and could be damaging.

They did claim they are hiring year round marketing guys for each team However in total yeah the year round leauge is important Keep coaching staffing on a payroll all year around and hire a few marketing guys Funny thing is, it wouldnt suck if you just paid them a lump sum yearly salary, then allow them to help you make cash
He is the most negative of all the people following spring Football. He was a Huge XFL fan. His team was Seattle. When the merger happened and the Sea Turtles got dropped, his gloves came off and he has been negative and bitter ever since.
@scottfarley3644 he criticizes it because he wants to see it improve. I think the informed base know that 2025 could be the final season , especially if they're not given preferential tv treatment again. Hopefully FOX Friday has everything built into it that we want (pregame, post-game, advertising) but certainly scary to think that a lot more games will be on FS1 & ESPN next year. The 24 ratings were ok, but also not necessarily great especially when they're all-in on TV viewership
My opinion. The UFL needs dreamers, innovators and ownership that is willing to loose money in the beginning in order to to have eventual success. I don't believe Redbird, Fox, nor ABC are in that category. They are bottom line bean counters. Redbird history is to invest in the short term for quick financial rewards. Fox and ABC are in TV media. If a program loses interest quickly by the public or never really gets off the ground, that program is quickly pulled from programming. They are not long term investors or believers. After next year the UFL proves static in its return, I believe the leash will be short. As pointed out by both yourself and Reid, the seasonal employees concept is counterproductive. This is not 2020 when spring football was new, exciting, a happening which brought out people to see what spring football was all about. It is going into 2025 where people are leery of investing their time in another team and league. Ownership must be proactive and not just believe that if I put a product out there, they will come. This is not a Field of Dreams movie. You want your league to succeed, ownership must go the extra mile to get fan acceptance. I personally just don't see it. I really hope I am wrong because I have see about every XFL, USFL and UFL game.
The UFL should talk with the CFL about coming together as a spring & summer league. Both the CFL’s style is similar to the XFL. It would work out very well in most types of offense and defense…
@TheEndZone4 move Houston to Tulsa. Birmingham gets 1 more year, or it's off to Canton. It's a joke they can't draw 20,000. That team would draw anywhere else.
Marketing. Gotta get people interested in the league and fill out the seats in EVERY city. Focusing mostly on that will help people know the brand and tune in each week!
UNLV #8 Darius Johnson (DL) he had almost 100 tackles in 2 seasons with the rebels can play anywhere on the DL !!extremely aggressive with a high motor !!!
There's a mix of both hungry & motivated undrafted players, and young men who have decided that football is now behind them. Honestly, i think the UFL base salary is too low and should be more like $100k. These men should make enough over the season to live a middle-class lifestyle the rest of the year to keep them in the league for further development and potential signings into the NFL.
I support that, I also see why the league itself may not feel like it can pay that. But again, football is a legit risk and the compensation should be worth that risk
TKO, parent company to WWE and UFC, has news out today. Kind of interesting. Kind of big. Kind of news that in a year or two could turn out big. But it's this paragraph that makes me make and put on a tin hat. and I quote.....In addition to today’s acquisition, TKO Group Holdings, parent company of UFC and WWE, has made a strategic investment in EverPass. Mark Shapiro, President and Chief Operating Officer of TKO, has joined the Board of EverPass, joining representatives from RedBird Capital and 32 Equity. End quote. See that?! RedBird Capital. My tin hat theory is could we see the UFL on a streaming service in a year or two.
Trust is a big problem for the UFL in Alabama at least with people I talk to. To many teams have closed shop, the latest being the Birmingham Iron; The UFL has to change this perception some how. I think the UFL needs to add four teams or at least add Tampa Bay and maybe the NJ Generals which in my opinion helps with the trust problem the UFL has. Lastly, I have not been to Birmingham or Montgomery in a few, but I bet there are no Stallion billboards in Birmingham, Montgomery, or Huntsville. Where can I find merch? Very poor marketing
