I use a 10 litre bucket with a lid with 2-inch holes around the outside as a feeder and a cone type in the inside in the center with hot melt glue so the feed falls to the outside
Put a shelf in your loft and use, used 2 or 3 Liter bottles/ clean milk Bottles with a 2x2x2x2 inch hole on the wide side for drinkers to save money. ?????
Hi from D.Ks pigeon lofts, your outside sunning cage will do fine for the birds return bob wires or 45deg/ elbows cover above the inside entrance with wire, I use the hole roof for the sunning cage on my stock pigeon loft that are for Breeding only never fly your Breeders if you done want to loose them to hawks
These pigeons are tough. I had one on my team last year after a toss it mustve hit a wire broke its leg on the band side like yours. I thought of cutting it off as well but i gave it some time. I didnt isolate the bird he stayed with the others he limped around for couple days maybe a week most? He healed up and I was able to rotate the band again freely. It was swollen like yours was as well. That bird ended being 1/3 returning back from our final 300 mile race out of what I had left on my team of 12 birds? I can't recall exactly.
A bit late now, but I wouldn't use diesel oil anywhere near the birds. You said it will "gas-off", but in the future, I'd use primer and paint, or nothing at all.
That was perfect cool man. I still have pigeons and had done same with 3 of my young ones I first push em in through wires few times then let em out with the adults and they follow them readily it only took 20 mins.
That’s what I settled on and it’s looking better now. She is putting a little weight on it and the swelling has come down. Didn’t want to risk making it worse trying to cut off the band. I’ll keep watching it closely
nice color of your pigeon. yes continue your training that is good. that training for the trap door is good. specially for racing time or going back home. 👍👍👍
Great looking birds I think you're giving them a little bit too much feed 1 tbsp / pigeon always make sure you have fresh water and Grit. Enjoy the birds they look great man
Thanks for the comment! I will work on getting their food dialed in. I have heard overfeeding is the biggest mistake of beginners, and I guess I'm no different :) It is still pretty cold in Wyoming too so I was a little worried about that.
Loft is awesome from start to finish. I know I'm late and by the time I write this you may have already built and finished the loft but my suggest for the breeding boxes or breeders build them at the end section therefore when you walk in you don't scare or stress the breeders as much verses if you do it in the front or 1st section you'll have to walk through the breeders each time to get to the yb section. Another plus about having the breeders in the end section is they can't or won't be able to just fly out when you open the door.
Hey I have some 2023 homers baby with pedigree. If you pay for the box and shipping I give you some for free. I’m in Oklahoma. I like your loft man is nice. You made it work.
@Comanche_Loft Thanks for the offer! I would love to discuss it with you. You can email me at: swallowtailfarmllc@gmail.com Or if you have another way for me to reach you, let me know.
I wondered about that, I’ve been feeding them once a day and they’ve been hungry enough, they come right back in through the trap before I get a chance to even call them. Do you think I should block the trap for a while so they can stay on the board longer, then open it up and call them?
