I bought the Astro City Mini on Prime Day 2024, and I can confirm that the 6-Button Pad that comes with the Genesis Mini 2 DOES work with the thing. It's different from the Retro-Bit ones, so don't bet on the BIG6 OR the Wireless 8-Button pads to work! Same goes for the Wired 8-Button Pads, unless there's an update that adds support for it to the controllers.
Mario: It's over Bowser! Bowser: HA HA HA! You look rediculous in that dress Mario! Mario: No I don't! Bowser: Yes you do! HA HA! Bowser: Gee, I wish I had a camera so I could take a picture of you in that dress! Bowser: Or maybe, I should get a phone and take a picture of you in that dress and post it on the internet! Mario: Oh come on Bowser! Bowser: Im sorry, I can't help it! HA HA HA! HA HA HA! Mario: Seriously? Bowser: Hey Peach! Come see Mario in a dress! Peach: Mario? Why are you wearing that? Mario: You don't wanna know. Bowser: I wonder what Luigi'll say when he sees Mario in a dress or Pauline or maybe even... Mario: SHUT UP BOWSER! Bowser: OK OK sheesh! (chuckles silenly under his breath) Mario: I heard that!
Had to convert the whole manga to a PDF which was the only image supporting file that the older kindle could read. PDFs are big on file size so it wasn't really all that useful.
Thanks for the comment! TBH, I can't remember. I think there's better tools these days. I haven't played with Vita homebrew since the GTA 3 anrdroid wrapper ports. Based on my description, frame buffer only.
Did you try with generic switch/ios/android controls? Being based on Linux, they should be compatible. I understand that the gamesir brand controller works
Good to know that this 8bitdo works. I'm sure this 8bitdo is much better than the official Sega Astro mini controller, not to mention that it seems to me to be more expensive. 8bitdo is the best brand for retro gaming. Fair price and high quality!
With the Mega Drive Mini, Zuiki made its own standard, a standard that would be carried over to the Astro City Mini, Taito Egret II, ACM V and MD 2 Mini. For some reason, Sega made a partnership with Retro-bit to sell the 6-button pad for the American Genesis Mini but using the generic INNES standard which they also used in the Super Retro-Cade. For an even odder reason, Sega agreed to made the MD Mini compatible with both standards. However, it was not part of the deal to make them compatible with the ACM nor the Egret II.
I never considered skipping through the summons. Never bothered me. I also spammed them as much as possible. Why wouldn't you? Great stuff I'm getting ready to play again for the first time in decades now..? crazy it's been that long
Great video. I’m planning on ordering one of these, but I needed to know if there are alternatives to the original controller first. Those are very expensive now. Thanks.
this game gotta have the worst keybinds in menu in history of gaming, nothing works how it should, mouse doesnt work, and now I cant even go to keybinds cause the keybinds are fucked. this game is nice visually and fighting wise, but ui is the worst
Just picked one up specifically for the astro city, but the added bonus the controller is also compatible with the switch, too. It's win win all around
nothing ever looks quite as good as the og screens the lack of lighting really makes those pixels feel more real and tangible especially up close its something special unfortunately its also very much too its detriment. the latter screen is far better for practicality and is the best IPS replacement ive seen yet since it really mimics the pixel resolution of the original to such a great degree i really want one
Surprisingly, I don't think this is better than the original. The textures look great, but they're also incredibly noisy and make it difficult to see and appreciate each shape on screen. Plus they really accentuate the still "low" poly count of the models. Especially Saria's outfit looks off, the lines really highlight the topology in the worst way. For some odd reason, they looked like believable creases in the 3DS version, here it just looks like "ah, this is a low poly model." Seems like a proper port for the Switch would need additional changes, maybe in shaders or the way that textures are displayed. Maybe that also explains why we won't see it happening for a while, too.
I agree. The low polygons being much more noticeable. This always happens with you emulate a game and render it at higher resolutions. Without a port to a newer platform like the Switch. There isn't much you can do to improve this. These graphic were made with a 400x240 resolution target in mind. Still, if I have the opportunity to modify a game to improve the visuals. I at least give it a try. That's just my preference. There are very few older games, PC or console that I play in a vanilla form these days.
@@GuyManley Oh yeah, definitely! I appreciate the effort of both this mod and you showcasing it! Especially since I was wondering for the longest time what that would look like. And it just really makes me want a proper port even more.
This one is at www.re4hd.com/ HD project 1.1 FULL INSTALL is what you want if you haven't used any previous versions of this mod. Follow the instrustions for this, once it's all installed and works on a windows PC. Copy game folder to the Steam Deck then install the game via steam. Steam will just find the files and call the job done without changing or downloading new files. After that you want to go in the game properties and add this to the launch options. WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command% Launch the game and enjoy. I'd recommend mapping a back button to F1 for the overlay config window. A lot of cool features in there. Since I typed this out, I'll add it to the description too.
