Curioso como a letra desta canção parece contar, de maneira muito sutil, a experiência em vida de um outro Belchior: João Belchior Marques Goulart, conhecido popularmente como Jango, presidente do Brasil deposto em 1964 e falecido em 1976.
It simply blows my mind to see what great guitarists both Rafa and his backup guitarists are. Just watching them play and seeing how easy they make playing the guitar look (not to mentions Rafa singing) it's hard to imagine the thousands of hours they've spent mastering the guitar. It's impressive that this song can be sung and played in such a fantastic and amazing way! I love this song and have always listened to covers of it; this one here is one of the best I've heard. Seeing them play the song live just adds another dimension of coolness!!
Old pirates, yes, they rob I Sold I to the merchant ships Minutes after they took I From the bottomless pit But my hand was made strong By the hand of the Almighty We forward in this generation Triumphantly Won't you help to sing These songs of freedom? 'Cause all I ever have Redemption songs Redemption songs Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery None but ourselves can free our minds Have no fear for atomic energy 'Cause none of them can stop the time How long shall they kill our prophets While we stand aside and look? Oh, some say it's just a part of it We've got to fulfill the book Won't you help to sing These songs of freedom? 'Cause all I ever have Redemption songs Redemption songs Redemption songs Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery None but ourselves can free our minds Woah, have no fear for atomic energy 'Cause none of them, ah, can, ah, stop, ah, the time How long shall they kill our prophets While we stand aside and look? Yes, some say it's just a part of it We've got to fulfill the Book Won't you help to sing These songs of freedom? 'Cause all I ever have Redemption songs All I ever have Redemption songs These songs of freedom Songs of freedom
