I Have been around Motorcycles all my life from starting out on dirt bikes moving into my first street bike, which was a Suzuki 250. I got my first Harley before moving to Florida and going into the Marine Corps. I still have that bike and been learning how to customize it and get more unique. I believe in Wind Therapy and teaching others how to ride to enjoy the freedom of being on Two Wheels. So, in this channel I want to take you on the adventure with me. Helping new riders learn how to ride as well as riders that have been riding some parts that they might like to have on their bikes. Whether it be for comfort or for performance. I went from 41mm legends cartridges to the geezer engineering 49mm triple trees with big bear performance cartridges and it was night and day difference. Even coming from legends it is way better.
@@Wessoncustoms it definitely did, coupled with the fact that the factory 41mm trees are trash without good rigidity and clamping area and you've made a major difference. I believe my 41mm legends setup would have felt much better in some trees like these. I also had stock height legends and my new 49mm setup is +2.5"
Exactly always thought that was a weird design with one clamping bolt on the bottom of the stock tripple trees. But its old technology and not meant for a performance setup like geezer tipple trees!
@@Wessoncustoms absolutely, it's fine for the way most people used to ride Harley's but now days more and more people are into performance baggers or performance Harley's in general and it's exposing the weakness's. I know the Rushmore years are an improvement but still lacking. I'm curious what a 2024 baggers trees look like?
What kit did you get installed on your bike? I just purchased the 106 Kit with 585 cams from S&S. I wonder if it’s the same setup you got. I’m coming from a 96”
I have the 106 kit with 585 cams. I also went with the 89cc heads from S&S, this kept the compression down and being able to flow more air. The 585 cams like a little higher compression so you’ll probably see the cams on at lower rpms mine come on strong after 3000 rpms
@@Wessoncustoms yes, I believe that’s what the Cam Specs on S&S website stated. How do you like your upgrade? I haven’t had a chance to ride my bike yet. Still in the shop. But I’m sure it will feel a lot better than the tired 96” I had with 60,000 miles
@mobkinq Love the way it pulls I would like to have seen number difference between 79cc heads and the 89cc. For longevity wise i like having the lower compression and been in a situation where having a high compression might have been ify for they didn’t have 91 or higher gas.
??? Why did you park so far away from Veterans Park?? I think I know why now, at the 14 minute mark it was just faster to walk it. If ever coming up 55 in SE Missouri or 57 in southern Illinois let me know, I live between the two Interstates. about 40 minutes from both. Marion IL and Cape Girardeau MO are both great places! Both Have H-D dealerships Black Diamond H-D and Lawless H-D respectively (well Cape's is 5 miles south in Scott city MO.) Anyhow, just thought I would pass that along to you!!
That traffic was terrible at that time. The bike was getting so hot sitting in it the engine light was flashing at me so I found the first place to park!
Definitely would like to know more about the tires. I’m running Metzler 888 on my fatboy but when I put tires on my road king I got shinko 777 and I love the grip I get with the 777.
Thanks so much for coming to the benefit ride that we had. I was the one that spoke with you some in Clanton. I put the ride together for my friend and fellow firefighter that passed away at the young age of 30. We raised almost 1800 for his wife and kids. It was a great day. Currently running the 585's. Only negative thing i found with them is that I've lost some low-end torque like pulling away from a dead stop requires some more throttle input. But the midrange is great. Definitely not a high rpm cam tho if that's what you're after.
They are great mid range cams For me the pull great when 3000 rpms and above but I’m not running high compression they do like a little higher compression.

I just picked up a 91 FXSTS from an old vet. He added a bunch of custom work to it over the years. I rode it 200 miles home and my tail bone was sore for 3 days. I had to resort to making 20 to 30 mile jumps just to last long enough to complete the trip. I have the same problem with the foot pegs. Did they ever make engine guards or mustache bars for this? That could get a peg out wide enough for me to rest on it.
Every one is a little different when it comes to seats. With Saddlmen seats be more narrow in the front for me helps when I come to stopping the bike but that gel core technology is what keeps me in the saddle for long rides! I would recommend trying one out to see if its the right fit but the sundowner might be a better fit for you.
