Hello, I actually never knew bird populations were declining so much. But, the reasons you mentioned make sense. I’m Canadian living in the Japan countryside and I’ll admit I get annoyed at seeing local Japanese regularly feeding birds BREAD!! I know, bread contains no nutritional value for birds, fills their stomach with empty calories then inhibits them from seeking more nutrient-dense local food. I regularly tell locals not to feed birds bread, but they most often are not open to learning and think they know best. I often encourage people to take the time to study diet healthier for birds. Any seeds will be much healthier.

As it stands, I’m probably about hovering around $50 a month in peanuts for these guys. They’re not stupid animals not buying shot they recognize people and because I think that people pay them no mind they don’t realize the behavior and yes most don’t want to be tamed, but there are some who like to Let’s say flirt with human behavior. Probably the most underrated potential pet, but most underrated wild animal because if it’s human quality, especially like giving birth, they give birth like humans on their back legs up it’s wild

I gather walnuts and hickory nuts for my neighborhood squirrels. There are no nut bearing trees for about a square mole from my home. The parks i gather from have so many hickory and walnut trees that i can get several gallon sized freezer bags and still leave tons for the park squirrels. I also toast all of the pumpkin seeds i can get at Halloween. They last a long time if stored correctly, and they love yhem.

I just leave the kitchen door open and let them come in and sit on my lap while enjoying a walnut. Most of them seem to enjoy Wheel of Fortune.

Don't feed cat or dog food because animal based protein may awaken some weird stuff in them and cause them to kill and eat their own kittens.

I agree completely. My homeowners association bans the feeding of any animals including birds. I am willing to pay whatever fines they charge to be able to help these precious creatures. Humans always behave as though not feeding animals will make them go away. What actually happens is they dig up our gardens and break into our homes to find food. I have been feeding animals in my yard for years and my garden has never been destroyed by wildlife. One day I forgot to put food outside and and I found a squirrel hanging upside down on my screen door. Lol

This video confused me I was trying to find out what do squirrels 🐿️ eat and this video just confused me she basically contradicted herself to many times on what to feed them I live in a big city there are very hungry squirrels are all over my neighbourhood so why would I want to travel out of the city to go into the deep forest to feed squirrels and just let the squirrels in my backyard die of starvation 😂. This is not a video I’d take advice from.

It's our fault they are there. Until we reckon with the root cause of species extinction: disease ridden animal agriculture--- giving food back to vital wildlife is a necessary act of conservation.

@deeeno6867
@deeeno6867 Месяц назад
I think you’d be better off feeding the birds just the plain seed. It’s best to feed animals food that’s as minimally processed as possible, since that’s what they eat in nature. Birds didn’t evolve to eat any kind of bread, whole meal or not

REALLY?!!!! Climate Change “Of Course”?’ Are you out of your bird loving mind?! Climate Change is the LAST thing Killing-Off my Friendly bird populations. What IS killing them by millions are those WICKED KILLING MACHINES CALLED WIND TURBINES. I tuned into this video because I thought I’d learn. about the birds I feed. Nope! I know far more. And I know this, when we’re brain-washed about pseudo-Climate Change we’re just being gas-lit. Wake up woman! You’re not THINKING! Our Scottish Cottage home is directly across from an UGLY Wind Turbine farm. Every day I go over & collect the dead carcasses of hundreds of beautiful sea birds. So DON’T LECTURE ABOUT CLIMATE; you’re clueless.

I grab wildlife feed every time I go to Kroger! They still won’t approach me, but they definitely come when I throw corn and nuts. I don’t want to catch them. I’m not invasive, but I would like them to feel safe/comfortable with me.

Why we have to keep culling the grey Squirrel One of the biggest factors the deaths of the Red squirrel and a lot of other wildlife is down to people thinking that the greys are cute there is nothing cute about a grey and in no way like a red squirrel One of the problems is the public have made this worse by feeding greys which has put more pressure on the Reds than anything else even if you feed grey Squirrels hundreds of miles away it still has a knock-on effect by displacement Greys tend to move a mile a day through a wood, so you are not necessarily seeing the same greys And Greys do not only carry squirrel pox they carry about another 8 diseases which has effect on humans as well as other wildlife Adenovirus being the most serious as the greys move forward into a Red area it also kills mice and anything else that can be affected by this disease and this in turn has a knock effect on birds of prey and even Adders with the loss of Mice their food source And probably a lot more things that we do not even know about So not only did are ancestors make the initial mistake all of the do Gooders are carrying it on and making it worse for are Reds And the people that are trying to protect the Reds get all of the abuse for trying to save them and put the problem right As for all the other things pine marten and the idea that we can find a cure for squirrel pox and the Sterilisation are a total waste of time Pine marten do not have a natural predator and do not need to feed on greys all the time they will eat anything else other than Greys if they get the chance I have had messages sent to me from so many people telling me how they are finding dead pine martens that have starved to death as they have been released in areas with not enough food and to many pine marten in the one area Sterilisation is not the answer also just think about it It has to be done over 5 years and possible more than that where are you going to get the thousands of people that are going to man these feeders and how do you know you are going to get everyone and the cost to set up If there is going to be a winner here it will be where they change the greys DNA so that they can only produce Males and then more males and so on But what happens when you get all of these males, and they are needing to find a female are they going to tear through all of the Red areas until they die out spreading the pox and adenovirus even faster The reason why it is a waste of time to find a fix for the reds to survive against pox is Greys eat the food before it is ripe so will actually starve the Reds to death Also, female Reds have to get to a certain body weight before she can breed so she will never get to achieve this with the lack of food about Greys also breed all year round so will outperform the Reds Sorry to say this but we have to keep trapping and shooting and probably everything else also But we need the public to stop feeding them it only means we have to cull more Greys and even more greys and even more greys It has to be said we are losing the Reds due to no action being taken All of these big wood owners not looking after their estates the Greys damaging all of their trees, but they take money of the general public to look after the trees Like the national trust, woodland trust, wildlife trust, the rspb (which is a total waste of time) and the councils whose job it is to look after the health and safety of the general public And the forestry which is supposed to be trying to make money from selling the wood and they don't do squirrel control As well It is time for a big fight back now it is time that these organisations get their act together and get the Greys gone

I feed a variety of squirrels red black and grey's, my best option was to purchase deep hanging mesh baskets and short shepherds hooks so the food stays off the ground. These are right below the bird feeders and they have never bothered the feeders. Thank you for your video it has helped me confirm the types of nuts I have been feeding the squirrels.
