Slight correction, I needed no refernce images on start,as I created my startrek era spaceship from a cube. But ya, as I go( not done), I find reference images and docs valuable to maintain cred.
What are the hot-keys you used to undo changes you did at the start when you randomized the area when creating the city? Google etc gives me "Shift+Z" for that but that does something entirely different. Also, what are the keys used to make these... "cut-outs" when making the base of the star destroyer?
Weird it said Shift+Z for undo. It's control or command +Z hold the key for control or command and then press Z whilst holding the other key down. Should work for you, but remember that you only have so many undos before you've gone back too far where it isn't saved. Hope this helps!
@@skilllanoodle my bad, it's Ctrl+Z not Shift+Z, memory fooled me there. Anyhow, upon looking through the tutorial I realized that I rly should do the basics tutorials first because quite a lot of that "normal" stuff looks super complex for a beginner.
@@FinalDevastator It can be a bit tricky at first but you should definitely do the donut tutorial from blenderguru it's really the best learning tool for beginners better than I could teach.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! Going to be making some more content like this in the near future and looking forward to seeing how it goes. and hello from NYC!
I am a beginner in 3D stuff and just going through the donut tutorial, after seeing the video, I am just thinking when will I be able to make this type of things😅.. Nonetheless, Amazing video and render🔥🔥
Thanks! Trust me, get through the Donut Tutorial, experiment with different ideas, and just make cool stuff and you'll be creating great work in no time!
Ngl, those glitches rrom the render were kind of a happy accident, it definitely added a lot to the piece + with the post processing you added, it wouldve been perfect lol
you def got a point but it was driving me crazy had to go back and try again especially after the texturing of the subway being such a hurdle. Thanks for watching and hope you liked the video!
@@skilllanoodle making my own isn't an issue :) I was curious about your pre-made versions.. or more specifically what mods you made in Jdis. I generated some I like though. Love this vid thanks so much.
@@Some_Guy_Called_Raven It's pretty standard, tried to create a download link for mine but for some reason it wouldn't stay linked. I would suggest using a preset and just adjust to get some that are more detailed and others that are more plated. Sorry about that, it's been a pain trying to get those textures to people.
@@skilllanoodle You're not the only one having linking issues. With the dot grid for the lights.. I removed those same patterns you mentioned. I also dislike them.. they're too "bulky" for a ship or hull. I also removed the 3 outline to leave just solids. Is this similar to what you were doing?
As I'm not a Blender user (yet), this was great to see the workflow on! Doing some of this stuff in other DCCs, is WAY more hurdles to jump through. Thank you for this! 🤘
@@skilllanoodle cuzz bruh, we be dreaming of the same house 😂😂 Minecraft always gave out the best terrain for these homes😄😄 I really like the base of it, was watching and couldn’t figure out if you subdivided before beveling on the front of the column, either way the shape and geometry looked great🫡
@@NupeWoop I beveled first then subdivided. Beveling controls the subdivision curving the object. But yeah you made me realize I definitely made this is minecraft years ago without even realizing!
Yesterday, I watched the video about the grasshopper starship model. It inspired me to pick up learning blender again! Looking forward to watch this video (love the longer format) ^_^
Super happy to hear that! It can be tricky for the first few weeks or months but it's super satisfying once you get that hang of it. And with all the tutorials and support out now it's easier than ever! Hope I can be of any help along your Blender journey!
Thanks, I see what you mean though, I am terrible at rigging and I had to re rig this so there's definitely a problem or two with the character model. Hoping to get better with it though so I can do more work with characters in general!
I'm sorry but how is this a tutorial ..? You don't detail how you do things, just impossible to reproduce for a complete noob, even someone willing to spend hours to reproduce (like me) Arg, disapointed unfortunately, mostly because of the intro
I'm sorry to hear that. This is a much older video and I feel reflects my old way of doing things. I actually created a newer spaceship tutorial I think you would like a lot better!
@@snowsteward8340 That's great, Blender's a great tool and even better when mixed with Unreal. I actually want to delve into Unreal soon for making cinematics and maybe even a game or two.
That's the proportional editing tool. If you click the "O" key you'll see a blue button turn on on the top bar in your workspace. That's where you can click to see a dropdown menu with a bunch of different setting and then you can scale the selection size with your middle mouse button. Hope this helps!!
That might be something I'd be interested in doing, just not sure if I'd be any better than the already available. Def something I could consider though...
@@youtubeuser1159 It might be acting weird with your operating system, you can find generated texture packs that already have the completed Jsplacement textures or similar displacement maps. I know this isn't the best solution, but they cut any support for the software and I've also been waiting for some kind of alternative.
my image is ot showing up on the plane. I have followed the steps to put it on what am I doing wrong. Also how do I do material preview you seem to have activated it with some sort of pop up menu. I am very new to blender.
The reason you're not seeing the texture on the plane is because you're still in solid view. If you hold down the Z key and slide your mouse to material preview, you will then be able to see the textures in your scene. Hope this helps!
