Journey with us through the football leagues, in this career save on football manager 2024. Starting as an unemployed ex Sunday league player in an overseas European league, we try to progress to the pinnacle of club football. This is not a one club save, job opportunities will be considered along the way. Our first goal is to win a domestic title, followed by the main goal of winning the champions league.
Hi. He didn't get referenced as one of the named top players per season, but he does get a notable mention at 31:40 :) as he was a great servant to the club but never really won any awards for top ratings etc. Still worth a mention though.
Hi Guys. I will check back in on Christopher Friday as I am going to do a recap of all the players that got us to here so far. Unfortunately I cannot re-sign him. Even when selling a player I can not retain them on an initial loan. I will review the rules for future saves though, as the narrative of a home grown player returning would be really cool. (Plus he was really good and a centre half would have been helpful lol)
@jeffreysmink9918 I think that is a fantastic idea. I was thinking of doing a 'journey so far' summary in the future and a players of the past revisit would be pretty cool. Cheers, I will work on it.
It is quite surprising how well it has worked really. Playing 2 up top makes sense but it is weird how the cautious mentality still enables us to attack quite well. I am guessing that it is dues to the high amount of possession it retains
I reckon you are right to sell one goalie to generate some income and keep the young Turkish fella for the future, even play him a bit for development. Other option would be loan him out
@jasonlheath I think you are right, especially if we need to hold onto the outfield players. The young Turkish lad looks like he might have premier league potential, so I will probably let the middle one go and keep current first choice with the young lad.
Absolutely. Dunk has just picked up the 'likes to beat the offside trap' trait, so I will try and find a way to work them both in without conceding lots of goals.
@@soggymog8839 look foward to hopefully seeing it. Im new to fm and both this series and your unemployed to unstoppable have really helped me understand the game. Much thanks and keep up the great content 👍🏻
@johnhiggins5463 It was ridiculous. I was just waiting for the match to end and we got what I thought was nothing more than a consolation. Then we equalised and I thought we were very lucky, but to win it from that position was incredible and very unexpected. Any points will do lol 😆
Still catching up. Do you use mentoring for personality improvement? And what is the personality of your Head of Youth Recruitment? I think that affects the personality of your intake as well.
@jeffreysmink9918 Hi, I don't think I have actually used the mentoring much at all as a lot of the personalities were not great, but I will definitely look into this for the next episode as any potential benefits will be useful. As for the head of youth development, I will check. I think we changed him a few seasons back for a better fit, but definitely worth me checking again. Cheers
Just checked and the current Head of Youth Development in the latest episode is 'Professional'. He wasn't in place during this episode so eventually you should see him come in to the club :)
@jeffreysmink9918 thank you and I hope you continue to enjoy the series. It has been my favourite save so far and the youth intake aspect is very fun and frustrating lol.
I think the tactic probably needs a bit of a refresh to try and suit the squad a bit better. I am toying with going 2 up top, but that probably means a 4-4-2 or 3-5-2.I think Dunk needs a partner up top to maximise his potential
Yeah, the first team squad and rotational back-ups are all nearing championship quality which is nice. it will be interesting to see if the increase to youth level 2 will increase the potential of the next intake. Certainly feels like we are making forward progress :)
Thanks bud. They seem like a really good club and doing well in the home games. I hope they one day go on a similar journey up the leagues. Sleeping giants :) .
@matthewsmith455 absolutely agree. His starting stats and personality put him way ahead as a prospect, but will he realise that potential. I think I need some more coaches to help him, but I am more worried about premier league clubs tempting him away. I am excited to see how good he gets.
@jasonlheath I think he will instantly become the 3rd best midfielder behind Spence and mandanda. He should get plenty time and I am hoping he will quickly catch them both up and challenge to be number 1
Hi Jason. I think it is a mixture of facilities and coaching staff. I keep going to the board to try and get them improved, but they aren't always receptive to the idea. I am hoping the sale of Christopher Friday will enable us to make a couple of improvements. I think the technical development will be key in getting players capable of getting us to the premier league. It is such a fun save using the youth intakes, but really hard to stop big clubs poaching your good players.
wow deserving to beat the predicted champions with this team is wild, unlucky not to get the three points but that must feel great to get a point on the board straight away
Absolutely buzzing. I was worried that playing with a defensive mentality in line with the board vision would make us too negative and we wouldn't create much. It looks like the tactic seems to fit the squad really well as we were pretty dominant and defensively sound. It certainly felt good and looked like the season could be better than initially anticipated :)
congrats on championship, i like the way you skip through a lot of the bulk of boring games but still go back through everything thats happened. Good luck on next season (southgate would be very proud of that final performance lol)
@johnhiggins5463 lol, It was very much a Southgate performance and I found it hard to look at myself in the mirror after that negative final 85 minutes; but the end justified the means. I have a feeling that our first season in the championship may well require some more bus parking to ensure safety but we have a good core of a squad to compete at the bottom end. Fingers crossed for the championship and I should get the next episode out tonight :)
@@yaboiskinny7221 thanks 😊. It has been a really interesting way to play through a save and actually rely on the intakes and need to build facilities. I still hope to get all the way to the premier league, but that may take some time and luck lol
Had a hard time hearing you. Maxed out the volume and had to use my chrome volume booster extension, music was a little loud too. Not sure if it was just me. Amazing intake though
Yeah, my apologies on the sound quality. I tried using the in built mic from the new camera, but it hasn't seemed to work very well. I will switch it back to the dedicated mic in future
Cheers @Jasonlheath. I think the squad looks pretty strong in all areas this year. I'm hoping for a final this year, but we may need a lucky draw in the last few rounds.
Medical or codreanu. That's a good shout really. I will look at dominant foot etc and see which is better suited. That would allow us to keep a more solid shape. Comments section is becoming a pretty good assistant manager 👌 cheers
Hi Jeremy, I did see he was on the shorter side but I figured that he must be ok to become an England International. Will prob do as a 4th/5th choice but you are probably right about it biting me in a big game at some point
Yeah, he looks great but not sure how much changing the formation to squeeze him in may effect us. He certainly has a good starting point in terms of stats :) I will give him a few games and see
Hi @jeremycouderc I will look into trying them on auto/attack to see if it increases chances and also reduces some pressure. Hopefully it benefits. I have tried fitting tactics to players comfortable roles but it isn't very effective. Thank for the tip 😀
@jeremycouderc it was a great start to the season and could have won by more. I think the squad looks in a good state this year. Go on the mighty Millwall.
ah mate that stadium thing is so annoying, happened to me when i was doing the youth only in Iceland and set me back for a few years. Try to schedule some high profile friendlies and do your best to have a cup run! loving the series
Thanks @alessandrocossu6432 I didn't even think or generating some cash through friendlies. Great advice and Iceland sounds like a challenging league. Cheers.
It is absolutely huge as it allows Spence to play centrally. I was worried when he broke his leg, as I thought it might limit his potential but he has just kept getting better again. Hoping we can muster up a playoff spot this year
Hi @Jasonlheath. That is a very good source of youth players. I do keep an eye out and occasionally take people on trial, but usually they are not high enough potential to invest in at this stage. I think most players with the higher potential will cost around 10 Mil+ to secure. Slightly more if they are english
Thanks @tomiburic8167 . It certainly makes it a lot more difficult. Very enjoyable though and makes youth intake days very exciting. There have been a few good ones come through and surviving the first season was key. Hope you enjoy the series as it develops :)
Yeah, some pace would be great, especially at this level of football where physically attributes seem to dominate. The intake was pretty good and extra centre backs and left back were good. Could really use a right back before scarlets leaves. The next problem is trying to hold on to the players as they hit their peak. We only got 1 season out of a 5 star Oscar Allen and we need to get a few peaking at the same time to push up the league. It is a really fun challenge though.
Yes. The challenge is certainly hard and I think we are at the tipping point where newgens will outnumber the old guard. Next season is key and will be very fun
Very good signings. Can you show the best players attributes next time please? On a side note, what do you think of Everton's chances of staying up this season?
I think the signing were very good this season and I will certainly show the best player attributes in the next episode. Let me know if there is any player in particular. In regards to Everton staying up this season. I think we will. Dyche has made us hard to beat again and balanced the squad. If Calvert Lewin can hit some form we should be able to turn a couple of results in our favour. I also am hopeful that the point deduction should be overturned as the financial discrepancy is more linked to the stadium than signing players, so I personally don't see how we have gained any sporting advantage. I honestly think we will end up being a few points clear of the drop but I am still worried that I could be wrong.
Hi @Jasonlheath I agree that it will be tough although there are promising signs. I think it is massive that we tied the initial players down for 2 years to enable 2 intakes to come through. Gilder and Amoako have settled in well and will be key to the transition period. I think the real difficult part will be season 3 as the best players (Shokunbi, Scott, Binnom-Williams etc) will not sign on again :( .The challenge is fun though.
I think the start to the season was great with the promotion form bounce. The drop in form at the moment will hopefully be balanced out by the new striker, who looks like he will get a bucket load of goals. Millwall will survive and I agree, that given time to develop, we will get into europe soon.
Yeah, the Wolves games was rough as I felt we should have won. Massively let down by a terrible red card for Ruprecht against Leicester and then emotionally drained by a pulsating FA Cup Semi-Final. Transfer work will be tough as our budget won't be massive but I think we have a pretty good core to build from. Mighty Millwall rising to the top :)
Thanks @jeremycouderc . Unanimously we will be staying at Millwall. I am currently working hard on the transfer window for the next episode. It is shaping up really nicely 👌
Thanks @carlmcdonnell. I think its too soon to move as we are only a year into the Millwall rebuild. I think you are spot on, that it is actually just a sideways move. I think we are close with Millwall and if we finish the transfer window strong we can have a real promotion push this year.
Yeah, you are probably right. Burnley do have some good players but I think some are on pre-arranged transfers out and lots want to leave now that they are relegated to the championship. I quite like the Millwall squad, although when the loan players leave, it will be a much weaker squad.
Yeah, it was very unexpected after the defeat to Reading. I thought the players would be too tired but they pulled it out of the bag for a memorable Millwall victory. Great end to the first episode of the year :)
No prbs @jasonlheath and merry christmas to all. I am really enjoying the save and need to reign myself in from blasting through the season lol. I think the squad is in really good shape for a play-off push this season. I think we are on to exceed board expectations this season. I was worried after first taking over as the wage budget seemed awful, but we seemed to have sorted it now.
@@soggymog8839 thanks mate you too, yes you seem to have turned the team around a fair bit. It's a pity you haven't been able to get rid of that 40k/wk player yet as you mentioned in the last video. Look forward to the rest of the season 👍
@jasonlheath in an ideal world De Norre would have gone in the transfer window as he has been upgraded. Unfortunately I gave him a new contract and no teams interested will pay his wage demand. I will give him a game here and there to try and get clubs interested and try again in January. That would free up wages for at least 2 more players. New signings are settling in well though.
