Absolutely. The build wasn’t too difficult. I managed to build with some simple power tools. The cushions typically cost a lot, but if you’re patient, you can possibly snag them on sale.

Did you slice them with a chainsaw? Mine came out thicker because i didn't wanna risk cutting too thin.
@hairyfig
@hairyfig Год назад
The pieces came pre-cut from a sawmill from a local seller. Fortunately they were mostly flat when I got them, but sanding end grain did take forever. The cookie was ~2 inches thick, had a few cracks in them after they dried, but reinforced them with bowtie inlays.

Had to pause it again at a minute and 42 seconds. Please, for the love of god 'and I'm and atheist' wear a filter mask of some sort. Even if you had a proper form of dust collection 'which you don't' its still advisable to wear a mask.
@hairyfig
@hairyfig Год назад
Yea my girlfriend was yelling at me about that. I typically use a N95, but I definitely forgot to use it a few times. Do you recommend using a dual cartridge respiratory p95 or would a n95 be efficient?
@woodywally
@woodywally Год назад
@HairyFig I do also have a duel cartridge one that I only use when doing extremely fine sanding with really nasty stuff. Renovating cast iron machine beds and fences. In terms of that I use this 'JSP Force8 PressToCheck™ Half Mask' Keep going with the woodwork dude. You'll be surprised how quickly improvement happens. You'll look back on this video in 12 months and not recognise yourself in terms of your work. It's the most rewarding hobby/career out there imo. I hope we speak further down the road my friend
@hairyfig

@@woodywally Thanks for the suggestions! I'll be getting a respirator soon. And it is absolutely rewarding after completing pieces. I'm half way through making a river table for the first time, and I'm really hoping it comes out good, but in the end, I'm still going to enjoy the piece a lot. The process of making the table is also very fulfilling.
@woodywally
@woodywally Год назад
ok, I don't usually do this as I don't find it beneficial either to you or myself, but, once you hear it, you cannot unhear it and you'll thank me in the long run! I liked the sound of the bark being chipped off so found myself tuning into it. Once I did that the issue was found. Its apparent that you primarily breath through your mouth. This isn't just distracting to the viewer, its a health issue. If you continue this then severe health issues can ensue! This isn't meant to be a negative comment, but a constructive on on both video editing and also to prolong your life. P.s I'm sure I will love the table once I start watching it again. Paused on 35 seconds presently
@hairyfig
@hairyfig Год назад
Thanks for your thoughtful comment! I also noticed my breathing when I started uploading videos. I definitely should get this checked out. Hopefully I can bring down the heavy breathing next time 🤣.
@woodywally
@woodywally Год назад
Hey bud, in terms of the breathing, it can also be a highlighter of sleep apnea, so yes, definitely get it checked out, mate. In terms of a respirator , I'd go with something that feels comfortable whilst offering a good amount of protection. That way, you won't be adverse to wearing it. That's what was happening to me at first. I bought a really high-end respirator, but it just didn't fit my face properly, and I had to over-tighten it so it was uncomfortable - thus didn't wear it. I ended up going for a really comfortable version that has replaceable inserts. Rz Mask M2 Mesh is the one I use now. Get the large size, it's rare that anyone even fits the small or medium. I also use dust extraction along with this. Thank you for not taking my comments badly
