Thailand had stolen Khmer culture!(Angkor style), which their ancestors teach their fake history!! That musical instruments come from the wall of Angkor wat! You don't have! And you don't have Harp! Khmer have Harp! Because Khmer Harp had disappeared maybe 1 thousand year ago! So that's why Thai can't steal from us! But it discovered in 2012! So don't steal us again!
Thai the copy and Cambodia is original and don't even think about stealing wonder from Cambodia that mean Thailand is even more jealous of Cambodian in the world🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

As Khmer dances and entertainment were modified and softened to become more of a Thai dance during Ayutthaya and later periods, still telling old Hindu like stories like Ramayana from Angkorian times although they've been Buddhist and only Khmers practiced Hinduism, these archaic Indian gestures the same but softened, The Khmer empire began to weaken from the 15th-19th century, Khmer kingdom or Cambodia then became a vassal state to Thailand, in the 1800s the Khmer King needed help from Thais to stop the encroaching Vietnamese and during this time in the 18th century the Khmer royals stayed in Bangkok and Thais brought this tradition back to Cambodia, now a modified Angkorian tradition, which now had an ensemble in the Thai language. Thais only admit the second half of This history claiming the dance spontaneously came out of Thailand and had nothing to do with the sacking of Angkorian royalty and entertainers-Khmers whom they once called Khom. On the other hand, Cambodians only accept the first half of this history and deny that the long single pointy crowns they wear (as oppose to the traditional 3-7 points) and some of the costumes was modified by Thais and brought back, they believe they've practiced it continuosly. Who's to know their isn't a dance from Angkor still remaining, some practiced do remain, but some Khmers dances have indeed been modified under Thai rule during the 19th century (they royal palace of Phnom Penh doesn't look Angkorian either). This is why some say some versions of Cambodian classical dances are Angkorian dances modified by Thais by a few generations. Anyway, that's the story of Khmer/Thai classical dances. That's how they had influenced on each other. Thais just need to admit they were inspired by Khmer, the same people as whatever Khom is, and Cambodians just need to know they've also been inspired by Thais in recent times. Cambodians need to document their history consecutively and stop letting warfare rip their society apart and cripple it to the point where they have to keep rebuilding it. Hopefully this new age we will be a lot more unified and observant.
What a beautiful performance! Where did this take place? I want to see something like this in a live performance. I hope that the people watching this can stop fighting the wars of their great-grandparents and realize that they have every reason to live together happily and at peace. I have studied many forms of dance. I see similarities in this Thai dance to the style of Odissi dance from India, and in styles of dance from Indonesia and other places. All the artists learned from each other and shared their creativity with big hearts.
Thank you for your comment. I am actually the dancer on the far right. I was maybe 15-16 years old at the time of this performance by Wat Thai Dallas. It was performed at the Majestic Theater in Dallas for an International Asian Dance Festival. I happens to be one of my most memorable and favorite performances. I was so ecstatic to randomly find this video years later. The comments though are great. So judgy for us just being kids then, dancing for fun, to stay out of trouble, to learn about our culture, and to keep classical dance tradition alive here in the states for all to see. I miss dancing so much. Truthly disheartening though. And btw, I am Laotian. Hope all will realize soon that we need to be united, as there are far more important worldly issues going on, then the way we danced this day.
