I’m a massive fan of these young men & women. HMKG are The Best in the world and I’ll never tire of watching them! It would be an absolute privilege to see them one day ❤🇳🇴

I’am a percussionist in The Netherlands and I really like the hmkg band!!!! I saw you guys ones in Brunssum (The Netherlands). Since then iam a hudge fan and I like the drum lines a lot and there solo performances. Greetings from The Netherlands.

What Cyber said. :) It is one of those ancient ultra Norwegian melodies we have, which requires it to be sung to. ;) :P Otherwise, it simply wouldn't be "Norge i rødt, hvitt, og blått". :D I say ancient, but it's not even 80 years old yet (almost though). It came out during the occupation years back in WWII, so it has alot of pride and emotion attached to it. :)
As a former member of a pipe band & a National Serviceman in the late 60's I believe these young members inthere short period of service do there country proud as well as themselves
Superb!! They even had the balls to make a ritardando at 11:50 - whilst marching!! As an Austrian Drummer I can say, that I really love HMKG, so precise and such a great sound!
No matter how many times I watch this, I think they are one of the best military bands in the world. I've been to many a Tatoo and band competition, but except for the HmkG and the Royal Marines, nothing compares. And I have 23 years of military service to compare.
Det er en fornøjelse at være med på denne sidste vagtparade. Ud og ind mellem lastbiler og busser, hegn og blokader, op på fortovet og ned på gaden og ikke mere vrøvl. Det hele strutter af kampgejst og pas godt på Norge - og så synger de om deres kære land - og så hedder tambourmajoren Solvang, jamenaltså, man kan ikke undgå at blive i godt humør. Disse drenge har tydeligvis nået at lære det hele - flot, hvis de også har haft kræfter til at gennemføre den militære del. Hvor lang er værnepligtsperioden? Er musikkorpset også værnepligtige? Det er ihvertfald dejligt at se et ung og energisk korps fremfor vore hjemlige lidt satte musikere og monumentale tambourer. Jeg har selv aftjent værnepligt i et musikkorps i tresserne og der var ikke megen entusiasme og slet ingen interesse fra omgivelserne - og vi var kun 16 musikere, heraf 5 værnepligtige. Companybugler 1962.
Det kan undre, at man år efter år kan mønstre så mange gode musikere. Hvor kommer de fra? Jeg var selv værnepligtig musiker i Danske Livregiments Musikkorps. Vi var 16 faste musikere (tjenestemænd) og 5 værnepligtige (18 mdr.). Jeg var heldig - undslap stortromme og bækkener - og blev afløser for tambourmajoren på 1. cornet. Vi spillede begge til prøver og koncerter, og jeg afløste ved parader og marcher, når tambouren dirigerede med staven. Alt foregik afdæmpet og i en rolig kadence. Jeg bliver stakåndet bare af at se Jeres vagtparade drøne op ad slotsbanken, og jeg beundrer sergeantens afmålte, men meget myndige signaler. m.v.h. Companybugler
Vi har en ganske stor korps kultur i Norge så det er nok en del å ta av, men det blir mindre mindre av det også, i gamle dager var det kun drenge der fikk spille i Garden, men nå er det begge deler:0)
I just love these guys and girls. The precision. The floating head of sergeant Solvang. The fast pace. The way they split up and join again at hindrances. We might not have the largest military, but as a Norwegian, I'm filled with pride, seeing this. This year's contingency of recruits really has to stretch their abilities to the max to get as good as these guys. The kings guards can be proud of a system that produces such an exceling result. Respect to the cameraman for keeping up with them. Filming this in one go gives a better feeling of how good they are. I suggest you listen to the pace at the beginning and the end. Not much difference there :-). I have shown this to several friends and family from all over the world, and the comments are very positive, without exception.
Thank you so much for your reply. It is my honor to relate to another band musician. I appreciate your service and the really hard work you and other band personal did and do to reprensent their organization and their country. Many people don't realize that we are soldiers first and still have to train to do our primary duty. The life is not as easy as it might seem. Again thanks for the reply from this tuba driver. :-)
Da vi gjorde ritardando i en av marsjene under vaktparadene i 2011 ble vi kjeftet på av befal, om at slike "dimmetriks" hørte hjemme på 80-tallet. Kult å se at det ikke stoppet fremtidige gardister å prøve på slike ting under marsj.
Jeg vil si det passer fint med takten på musikken akkurat der jeg da, hadde jeg vært befal. :) Hadde sikkert fått de til å tatt det et steg enda lengere og sinket musikk og marsj nesten helt ned til full stopp, for så i marsjere i full drus igjen. :p Men ... jeg er ikke befalet. :D
