Paul Clark is a professional illustrator who has been teaching watercolour painting and drawing techniques to adult learners for nearly 30 years. He has taught art to adult learners at many local colleges and education centres and continues to run his own weekly classes and workshops. He is involved in the local art scene often judging art shows and exhibitions in and around Sussex.
"One of the greatest privileges for me in teaching art, is to watch learners' individual styles develop and see the thrill they get from mastering new techniques". Paul's ethos on teaching, is that students learn better when working in a happy and relaxed atmosphere, so all his classes are open and fun, with a great emphasis on all artistic techniques being demonstrated.
I’m just starting out and did a pretty good job following your drawing with all the lines, however the problem I have is doing sketchy trees and shrubs, not as easy as it looks, do you have any advice on this subject please.
Great idea to start a second channel for drawing. There is a big potencial, with ink, pencils, maybe coal too ... Hopefully there will still come watercolor tutorials! ... maybe every second week? And i am surprised you can even from the bike draw and paint so well! 🤣🤣 (Scetchbook 23:22 "on my bike")
Yes, a drawing channel would be good. I do a little drawing in the evening when the Tv is on, it stops me dozing off! Again, it's about editing out the superfluous and retaining the interesting. Nice selection of music in Valse Francais style.
Wow Paul, your sketches are of a different level. I can see I have a long ways to go. I do own these graphite pencil set by faber castell. I love love them. I mostly use #2b and 4b. Love the lightness of #2b, it's great when you don't want the lines to show. I'll email you some of my sketches. No where near yours. Yes to a drawing chanel. 💓 Agreed to practice makes perfect. When I sketch or draw or paint lately , your voice is in my head. About tonal values , it does make a big difference. Thankyou for this lovely video. Have a wonderful week. Tc💖🎉🎉🎉
Painting number 2….the trees at the beginning, before you draw the water. I spent way too long on them and ruined the painting before I’d even started the water! How hard can that be? Yours looked so effective and yet so simple, Paul!
Please a drawing channel and more perspective. 😊. Are those pencils water soluble? I purchased some that are the same brand and when I add water the pencil lines act like a black water color. Works great! If you want to highlight darker areas that is. Loved the drawing, the water color and the sketchbook tour! Thanks! 😊
Thanks as always Paul, a great french scene to watch with a glass of brandy. Glad to know the pencils work well, I have found Faber to be a great brand & have used them for many years. I’d happily follow any more drawing work you choose to show. It’s a pleasure to see hand drawn work in a digital age. Have a great weekend Al
I absolutely love this! We are expecting a new grandson in Dec & they live near the beach. This would be an amazing gift for them. Pray I can make it as pretty as yours!!
Thanks Paul, loads of fun. I love pen and wash. This piece of work gave me some of my confidence back. It's such a forgiving way of painting, plus I'm a better sketcher than painter. Appreciate your help, always
Yes, please a channel dedicated to drawing. I’ve enjoyed your watercolor work and never missed a lesson on regular channel . Thank you for sharing your art with us.
I love this channel, but a sister drawing channel would be very welcomed by me, to encourage me to push myself more on that. Opens up more options when out on walks ❤
We love your watercolor tutorials. They are some of our favorites on RU-vid. The matt finish pencil drawing was great. I guess a drawing channel is coming from all the comments below. Just a thought to save you some time initially.... perhaps you could use some of your most downloaded drawings that you have made available for watercolor paintings and take those to the finish with the matt pencils. Had a friend who did architectural renderings. His process was a rough sketch, then intermediate drawing, and then the finished drawing with great detail, similar to your matt pencil video. Perhaps this might help all with a starting point before the teacher enters the room so to speak.
PS.. In 719, a Benedictine abbey was created, built by the German-Scandinavian people (the Burgundians) who lived in this region. The monks then begin to make small anise sugared almonds. For what ? The story goes that during the siege of Alesia, the troops were already eating small anise seeds to heal themselves. And the manufacturing of small anise candies has continued in this region ever since Donc mangez des bonbons .
Definitely interested in drawing, field sketching channel. Both with pencils and pens. Maybe throw in a watercolor wash every now and then. Your journals are fantastic. D
The pencils did not smudge because of the water? Btw a drawing channel would be super. I have a hard time breaking stuff into simple shapes to help draw particularly live things
I would watch anything you put out. Would love a drawing channel if you had the time. Please keep doing watercolor too though . You are by far my most favourite RU-vid artist. Love your videos!! 😊
Hi Paul! Thank you for this tutorial! It was fun to paint :) I have one question though, I couldn't achive the rocky texture with credit card technique. I painted on 100% cotton NOT paper. Do you know if paper or paints brand can affect how the color is lifted? Cheers!
Thank you so much for all your tutorials , I am learning a ton ! I would be very interested in a drawing channel. I jumped to watercolor before learning how to draw , feel a deep need for improving my drawing.
