This channels goal is to teach you how to catch more Crappie, Catfish, and Bass. I have been a full time Lake Fork Guide since February 1996 and I want to share with you my fish catching secrets that I have accumulated after all these years on the lake. Lake Fork is known all over the world for it’s trophy bass fishing. However, Lake Fork is full of giant crappie, blue catfish and flathead catfish. On this channel we are going to teach you the techniques that I use as a Lake Fork Guide to catch these species. Please hit the SUBSCRIBE button and don’t forget to hit the bell so you don’t miss out on any upcoming videos. Thank you for your support.
Had dirt daubbers clog up my pee hole too, several times. It'll overheat your motor. Usually take and straighten out a fishhook and run it in there. Good to go.
@@Codyintexas I know right. I have to do that all the time. Those stupid things clog up everything I got around here. I bet I cleaned out 20 lbs of dirt from a welder I have last week 🤦♂️
@@tiagooluzz5985 If I’m fishing the fluke in a lake I’m never using less than 20lb. And I use a 7ft medium heavy rod most of the time. In this particular video I was fishing in a pond so I had 20 lb braid with a 15 lb leader. If you’re fishing where there’s not much for the fish to get around then you can get away with the spinning rod and smaller leader. However, make sure you have a sharp hook for better penetration on the hook set. Thanks a bunch for the comment I really appreciate it 👍
@@CATCHAHAWG Thanks :) One more question, This is a good Road for flukes and senkos? LURE RATING : 1/16-3/8OZ LINE RATING: 3-8LB LENGHT: 7'0" POWER: LIGHT Its a shimano curado spinning Road !
@@tiagooluzz5985 yes I use the same setup. I primarily use 20 lb flouro carbon on a bait caster. If I use a spinning rod I go will 20 lb braid with a flouro leader
I’ve only caught one Crappie on it but the Bass in our county’s reservoir are attacking it with authority ~ I’ve lost a couple nice size ones right at the boat because little hooks pull right out on the flop.
@@trucolored oh yeah I understand why you need some bigger hooks for it. Number 6 superline Gamakatsu should be good and wouldn’t kill the action if yours is the 1/4 ounce size
Good Saturday morning ~ I just wanted to update you on my experience now with this blade bait. You’re right the hooks need to be upgraded one size but all in all the bait catches fish. I will have to order a bunch more because you most definitely will get hung up until you get the depth right. I had more success slow trolling through the fish ID’d on my fish finder and then started twitching the bait until one would grab it. I ended up losing all 4 baits after about 9hrs of fishing… Lol
Hey Gary, great video, I love to catfish in the summer and I like those floats you rigged up. Me and my nephew went this past Saturday below Wilson Dam on the Tennessee River and caught 38 from 1lb. to 15lb. using chicken breast soaked in red jello. I had heard of it but never tried it but they did not want cut bait that day. 90% of our fish was on the chicken breast chunks.
@@glennmize9057 they use that same bait over here as well. Seems to work pretty good and it’s a lot easier to get than throwing that dang cast net lol there’s some nice smallmouth below that dam do yall ever catch any?
@@CATCHAHAWG My nephew has but I have yet to catch any there...mainly because I haven't fished for them though. I will have to plan a trip to do that. My nephew pointed some out on the graph last week to me though.
@@williamhunter1959 they are a scent ball that attracts fish. If you ever decide to try them don’t get the ones for crappie. They are tiny and hard to hold onto lol The ones I use are regular size which looks big on a crappie jig but they work great
@@CATCHAHAWG I’ve eat them lots of bones but not a bad tasting fish. When I was little we would fish the river and if we caught one my dad would take a pice of corn stalk and open the gars mouth and put it in it and release it . The gar would go crazy and he said that would run the other gar out of that hole of water old timers
@@hubertanderson7044 yes sir they sure were. I’m hoping to get out there again soon and try some other jugs I made up. Thank you for taking the time to watch 👍
Great Video. good to see you chasing crappie again...What is your water temp there at Lake Fork ours is running low 80's in Alabama. I went the other night and only got 1 bass and 1 catfish. May have to try early in the morning between 3 and 5.
@@glennmize9057 thank you Mr. Glenn. It’s been hot over this way. Mid 80’s and above depending on where you are. That might change however next week when that hurricane hits depending on how much rain we get. You been chasing bass and not crappies?
Hey this was some great footage right here... I bought a Humminbird beginners model 500 series fishfinder and i have been studying how to recognize structure and fish but the challenge is what to through at them once you locate them, this Steelshad Blade lure is the ticket.. thanks for sharing ...Happy 4th of July 2024
@@trucolored I’m really glad you liked it. Those types of baits work really well when the fish are finicky. The steel shad is a little bit more pricey than some of the other brands but they all work great. Thanks for taking the time to watch 👍
@@CATCHAHAWG I just ordered (4) from BassProShop and plan on putting them to the test. Like I said Im in the learning stages of using a fishfinder and a buyo marker, I will share my results with you. I think this lure was a great find and hope you continue good sucess with your fishing guide business. I need a invite to Texas hint hint lol
@@daviddaigrepont9485 Hey David I didn’t have any electronics until the last few years. I’ll admit it has made it a lot easier but they can definitely be caught without it. I used to move up and down the bridge casting at every piling. When I would get a bite I would try to get my jig at the same depth every cast and it worked great. I appreciate your comment 👍
I charge my battery every time i head out, but on the water it was shows 11.4-12v. The battery is 4yrs old. Could it be the same issue with urs? Cheers.
@@Cparker8 might just be the age of the battery. I used to never have to charge my cranking battery but it seems like the newer ones just don’t last as long as they used to. I rarely get much more than a year out of mine these days.
@CATCHAHAWG Wow 1 year? That's crazy. The battery indicator on mine is showing 'recharge battery' even though I already have. Also I don't recharge it straight after use but instead the next time right before i head out again. Probably not good right?
@@Cparker8 I’m guessing it’s the age of your battery that’s causing the voltage to be low. If you check the voltage while the engine is running it will tell you if it’s charging. Mine is around 14v when running.
I'm not sure that I like circle hooks. I haven't bought any yet, but I have made them out of hooks that I have. I've been robbed more than I even saw the bite. Missed just as many as robed me. I do better with regular crappie books and catfish hooks.
