We believe that the best things in life come with a little bit of elbow grease, vegetables are best enjoyed garden fresh, and handmade products are always worth the extra effort. We are learning to garden, raise a family, and create a home where the food is made from scratch and the biscuits are made with real butter. We support small businesses and local farmers. We hope to one day grow all of our own food and become completely self sufficient. Until then we will live out our dreams in our suburban homestead.
Soooo many things! Peach panzanella, peach jam, peach upside down cake, pork chops with peach compote… I’ll be posting more videos with some of my recipes in the coming days 😉
This is a discard recipe. When you don’t have an active starter, you need another leavening agent - in this case, yeast. If you ever come across a sourdough recipe with another leavening agent like yeast, baking soda, etc. it’s a discard recipe ☺️
@@homegrownhandmade3317 yes it is! I have used the sourdough English muffin recipe from bigger bolder baking with great success (I use half bread flour half all-purpose), but Anja from Our Gabled home makes sourdough bread with a teaspoon of yeast in it. So yesterday I tried the Bigger Bolder one with the teaspoon of yeast… instead of a 12 hour bulk ferment it needed only 6, in a warm kitchen. She lets them proof after cutting for 45 min but I only gave it about 25 min. They came out good! I’m trying to find a way to make true sourdough in a one day process instead of two…
@@homegrownhandmade3317 my reasons for learning sourdough are that it has a lower glycemic index and is easier to digest. But so much of the store bought “sourdough” is only flavored and has no starter in it, so this way I know it’s real sourdough.
Sourdough starter is a leavener. One does not add yeast to a pasta dough. However, it may work as a dough for dumplings, since they do rise a bit when gently simmered. Typically, a combination of baking soda and baking powder are used in a stew's wet, steamy environment. The sourdough dumplings will likely be more dense but tasty none the less. It is worth a try.
In my opinion, while the paint scheme is interesting, the house doesn't look bad. The walls will need some patching and refinishing but they look sound. The floor plan isn't too bad and removing the wall will make the kitchen area larger which you will enjoy. The floors will need a bit of work, but I didn't see a lot of damage or crazy electrical work. Your idea for the improved outdoor dining room is great as spending time outside is healing. If the well is good, the septic tank is sound, and the roof doesn't leak, you can live in the house while you fix it up. 24 acres is going to keep you busy. :) I hope that your house quickly becomes your home and you settle in to a happy and productive life in Texas. Blessings.
Congrats!! Very exciting! I look forward to seeing your progress.♥️ My husband and I just bought a 20 acre blueberry farm on the river! We can’t wait to have a little homestead of our own. My daughter, who is in college, is excited to help me with our garden when she’s home. And our 11 yr old can’t wait to have his friends over to swim. So glad I found your channel! 😊
That is awesome! I love that your kids are excited to get involved! You'll have to give us some tips on blueberries, as we definitely want to put in a blueberry patch :)
I don't have a convection oven, so I personally haven't tried this. I would think you could turn the convection fan on and have them in the oven for a reduced period of time. You would still need the temperature on low, have them on a rack to dry on both sides, and watch them for the correct consistency. I'm not sure if this answer helps, but it's my best guess without actually having tried with convection.
If you use a clipboard to hold the loose end of the fishing line, you'll find it much more easily controlled. You can even push it under a heavy bowl to hold it. That's how I do macrame. Gotta hold those loose ends!!
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial on making a Christmas garland. I love home made and natural ornaments. I appreciate the tips to stringing the garland. Didnt think of fishing line. Happy Holiday Season. 😊
