He did great! You gave him 10 spoonfuls where most of it landed on his bib whist he almost tipped himself and his car seat right off the piece of furniture you have it sitting on. Never feed a baby in a car seat unless they are strapped in and the car seat is sitting on the floor. He should be in a high chair of some sort when he’s eating anyway. If he’s not old enough to support his head and neck when sitting in a high chair, he’s not old enough to be eating solids.
He is old enough for solids you fool, when he can eat without issues. He's just learning and doesn't quite know how to work his tongue yet, so yes some comes out of his mouth. He’s not even strapped into the car seat and has practically tipped the entire car seat over a few times now. If a baby isn’t old enough to support their own head and sit in a high chair, then they aren’t old enough to be eating solids. I agree with you though about a baby should never have their arms strapped down for any reason. I think what she said came out wrong and that she was insinuating that he should be strapped into a high chair so he’s not twisting, turning, arching his back, etc making it much easier to feed him.

Absolutely. He almost tipped that car seat over a few different times because he wasn’t even strapped into that either. If a baby isn’t old enough to support their own head and sit in a high chair or bumbo, then he’s not old enough to be eating solids. This baby looks a little young to be starting solids yet. I know a lot of parents are really anxious to start solids because they think it will make their baby sleep better at night, but you still have to wait until the baby is physically ready to start solids, which includes having the ability to support their head and neck.
