Okay. I can't believe I found this or maybe it found me. I went to Farragut for 4 long years and survived. Let's not tell anybody this & we'll keep it between us, but they were the best years of my life. There are too many people that I still to this day carry with me and will forever. Shhhh!!! 🤫 😵💫😉
That was amazing! Made me want to be there again. Whoever created this did a masterful job. I often think of Coach & Mr Hunt. Don't tell anybody but I sometimes even remember Captain Klein. Let's keep that between us. 😊
Class of 1954: Farragut made me what I am today! As I told Frank today, I was a complete nerd!.....My inferiority complex never left me until Army OCS at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.....Even though I received excellent grades and achieved many successes, I never relinquished my inner upmost feelings. Commander Reinhard knew me like I didn't know myself. He helped me overcome some of the inadequacies that plagued me throughout my 4 years and one summer school starting in 1950....Trinity College (Hartford) passed by with more good results and honors. This resulted in a full scholarship to the University of Maryland's MBA program in 1958. Three years winning my wrestling class weight class championship at Trinity helped my ego, but failed to overcome my latent fears of failure.....Thank God (note capital) I enlisted in the Army and opted for the Army Security Agency. Afterwards I won my Lieutenant's bars after an enduring 6 months of hell. More importantly, I won my self esteem and self confidence resulting in the John Norris I am today.....Thank you Admiral Farragut for waking me up to my full potential as a human being and later as a husband with two grown children. My wife, Anne, and I passed our 60th milestone last June....Thank you Frank for making me realize fact that Admiral Farragut played a very important role in my becoming the person I am today.
The funniest part is how the cover shot is my XO Ehring and me. That was taken during an inspection where Ehring’s dress blues were FUBAR, so he wore my spare. If you look carefully, you can see we are both Lieutenants and his says Shults too. Lmao.
Hi Rick, a voice from the past, Jim Ott. Remember the summer we both decided to come back early and be football players? I don't think I've ever been so sore in my life!!! Graduated in 1969
@@ottsignco , I do remember! Unfortunately, football wasn’t one of my greatest talents! Great to hear from you! I hope you are doing well. Happy New Year 2021. I’m currently living in South Florida, closer to AFA South.
@@rickewart372 nor was football mine, but I did go on to eventually get a 4th degree in Karate! Now at 70 I am paying for it with my aches and pains....still, can't complain. I am living in Tyler, Texas. Didn't like it back then, but AFA (logic remember that???) did instill many good traits. Loved the sailing, now I boat and fly airplanes! Happy New Year and glad to be done with 2020.
@@ottsignco interesting that you’re into boating and flying. I enlisted in the Navy in 1972. Flew in Sikorsky H-3 helicopters and later in Kaman H-2 helicopters. After active duty I stayed in the Navy Reserves and retired in 1992. In 1994 I got my Private Pilot certificate and have been flying GA piston airplanes ever since. Like you, I didn’t always enjoy Farragut life, but I have to admit, I learned some very important life lessons there. I believe that the education I received there was directly responsible for the successes that I enjoyed later in life. Stay safe and have a Happy and Healthy 2021!
I went to AFA North for just one year over 40 years ago in sixth grade. If I have these combined feelings of pride and remorse from its loss, how must AFA “lifers” feel! Joe Cianfarra
