Hey I'm Jei, a young Latina beginner numismatist. Welcome to Cointastic where I try to show you some of my collection while learning about them together. I hope to find like minded people to join me in my coin collection journey!
The 1978 50 kronor is from the reign of Olav V, king of Norway from 1957 to 1991. His father Haakon VII was the first king of independent Norway when it separated from Sweden. He was a Danish prince, the younger brother of Christian X, king of Denmark - the kings of Norway and Denmark are third cousins.
The 1914 2 kroner is a commemorative coin celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 1814 Constitution also called the Eidsvoll Constitution. Under this Constitution, Norway was physically separated from Denmark (it had been in a political union with Denmark from 1387 to 1814) when Denmark was defeated in the Napoleonic Wars. Norway was separated and joined to Sweden in a political union from 1814 to 1905.
The Tonga 2 paanga is from King George Tupov IV of Tonga who reigned from 1965 to 2006. He was the world's heaviest monarch in the Guiness Book of Records weiging slightly less than 300 pounds. The Kingdom of Tonga was founded by his great great grandfather George Tupov I who was suceeded by his son George Tupov II, his grandson, George Tupov III, his great graandaughter Salote , George Tupov IV's mother. He was succeeded by his two sons, George Tupov V and George Tupov VI who reigns today.
The 1882 2 leva coin from Bulgaria is from the reign of Alexander of Battenburg who was overthrown in 1885 by Russian conspirators who put Prince Ferdinand of Saxe Coburg Gotha on the throne. Ferdinand appeased the Russians by having his eldest born son Boris ( later Boris III, king of Bulgaria) baptized in the Russian Orthodox faith.
The US trade dollar was produced in the 1870s to compete with Mexican trade dollars which predominated in trade in the Pacific and the Orient. The US wanted to capture some of the trade in the region.
The 1968 10 koruna is from Czechoslovakia. The country no longer exists - it broke up in 1992 into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The reason for the breakup was very trivial. The Slovaks wanted a hyphen between Czechoslovakia ( i.e Czecho-slovakia) to separate the name of the country. The Czechs did not want the hyphen. They could not agree so they decided to break up the country which is called the "Velvet Divorce" because it occurred peacefully without conflict. Both countries went their separate ways after that.
1897 2 kronor from Sweden is from the reign of Oscar II, king of Sweden and Norway from 1872 to 1907. Norway was in a political union with Sweden from 1814 to 1905, when they declared their independence. Oscar II belonged to the Bernadotte dynasty which still rules Sweden today. The dynasty was founded by Oscar II's grandfather, Carl XIV Bernadotte, a Frenchman who was one of Napoleon's officers. Bernadotte's wife Desiree Clary, Oscar II's grandmother was Napoleon's mistress for a short time before Napoleon married his wife, Josephine de Beauharnais.
Great, historical pieces. You find some interesting stuff. Love the Hacienda tokens. Never seen that One Peso billete. Awesome aesthetic appeal. Keep finding those deals.
Wow, what an excellent Mexican coins haul! I had to wipe the drool off my chin a few times. lol...Like how you started the video with an 8 Real. Bravo! Mexican coins are also some of my favorites. They're part of my heritage too. You've got a great variety ranging from the REPUBLICA MEXICANA to today's modern Libertads. I think the eagle design of REPUBLICA MEXICANA coinage has got to be a favorite of mine. It certainly looks great on the 1 centavos. Information for the 1980 Onza can be found in Numista. It is not a coin so, you have to select the Exonumia category. I have one just like yours. I can watch this video over and over. Take care.
@@OgirCoins What an awesome comment to read first thing in the morning!! Thanks a bunch!! I'm really glad I'm reaching like minded people such as yourself who appreciate these pieces like i do. They're just stunning! Thank you again 😊
Simon Bolivar was president of Gran Colombia or Greater Colombia which consisted of the modern countries of Panama, Colombia, Venezeula and Ecador from 1819 to 1830.
The 1959 50 centavos from the Dominican Republic is from the era of Trujillo 1930 to 1961 when Rafael Leonidas Trujillo ruled as dictator from 1930 to 1961 when he was assassinated
Thats 5 drachmas from the reign of George I, King of Greece who reigned from 1863 to 1913. He was a Danish prince, son of King Christian IX of Denmark, who is called the grandfather of Europe. His elder brother, Frederick VIII became the next king of Denmark. His sister, Dagmar married Tsar Alexander III of Russia and his other sister, Alexandra married Edward VII of Great Britain
Thank you! I mostly buy online from a discord server that I'm in. People post really cool coins for sale and for great prices. Also from eBay. My LCS is too expensive and each time I go it's pretty disappointing.
lol yes! I'm trying to be the difference hahaha. It's so rare to see a female in the numismatic world but I'm here to change that. Thanks for coming by the channel! I'm trying to collect a silver coin from every country both current and past existence so you're watching my journey while learning a bit about them. See you around!
ANACS does a better job of authentication of world coins for a much better price. My foreign coins are all raw. I enjoy your history lessons on your coins. I would like to do the same with mine, but I developed a pretty bad stutter with my Parkinson’s.
I'm a big fan of ANACS but what I don't like is that they don't give your coins the premium PCGS or NGC would. I appreciate your kind words! You totally should start your own channel even though you have a stutter. Don't let your disability get in the way. I also have a disability and speech problems as well but I try really hard to cover it up in the videos. I take lots of medications that make me shake/stutter (sometimes it's apparent in the videos) and plus English is not my first language so sometimes my words get mixed. I think what's important is your love for the subject and what you learn along the way. If you ever start making vids tag me and I'll be sure to check them out! :)
Subbed #80. Good job finding and adding these cool looking world coins to your collection. There is so much rich history to them. I also cherry-pick coins that catch my eye when going through bins at LCSs. It's amazing what one can find just by being patient. If Numista doesn't show your coin, consider joining and sharing it. Like all your coins. See you around amiga.
Thanks for your very nice comment! And thanks for being #80. I am glad to have you and everyone else enjoy these videos. When I first started I was pessimistic and didn't think these videos would get any traction especially since I'm not too experienced and I'm a female in the coin world. But you guys and your kind words have been making each and every video worth posting! I love looking through coins posted online for sale or at LCSs all in anticipation to research about them and show them to the world. Thanks for your comment and I hope to hear from you again in the future!
@@Cointastic you’re going to do great. You just need a little more exposure. The coins you showcase are very appealing to many collectors. I would suggest you maybe consider joining coin related live streams to interact with other like minded people. Be a little patient too. See you around. Take care
@@OgirCoins Thank you again for being so kind. I'm learning each day to be more patient about this RU-vid journey. Millions of people are on here daily and I'm just grateful I have whatever views/subs I have when anyone such as yourself could have chosen to see someone else and ignore my content. I'm grateful for all of you 💜
Copper nickel is represented as CuNi, not CoNi. The symbol for copper is Cu on the periodic table of elements. It originates from the word cuprum. Co is cobalt.
The first coin has fingerprints which means the grade falls below MS grade..a coin can have mint lustre but if affected by minor scratches and faint fingerprints, the grade is reduced.
@@javaman7069 my stapler is not very good. It's the size of my thumb LOL. So I don't expect it to do such a good job at stapling. But it gets the flips closed and that's all that matters 🤣
@@Michael-ec5zs that means the world to hear! I started this project thinking no one would watch but I am proven wrong every day by lovely people such as yourself ☺️
Both Victoria pieces are stunning! And the Street Fighter coin is a nice throwback to my childhood when I'd play SNES after coming home from school :) . Thanks for watching as always! It's 100000% appreciated
