The Brewers Association claims static line cleaning is the least effective method of beer system cleaning. Proper line cleaning is using a recirculating pump with a caustic solution circulating for at least 15 minutes.
op 2 can only be tested and measured on a can end that has been properly op 1ed. when you briefly zoomed in on the printed directions I think I saw ".....the same can..." meaning they wanted you to put the op 1 can back in to test and measure op 2
No long time ago, I saw in a Pub a Growler explode when a person was handling this machine, that person got hurt in the face and almost I and others in the counter too.
Let me see if I understand this correctly. You go through all of that trouble to purge Oxygen from the growler during filling, only to break that seal so that you can cap it in the end... thereby exposing it to Oxygen anyway. And it's not clear to me how liquid cascading down the side of a vessel fills it from the bottom-up. Isn't it just hitting the top of the fluid line as it is filling? Stainless steel double-walled growlers are desirable now. How will those work with the Craftap if you can't see through them? This contraption seems to be serious overkill for what it lacks to differentiate itself from a normal growler fill using a tube connected to a tap.
co2 is heavier than air therefore any co2 remaining in neck of the bottle will be quite unlikely to be displaced by air before capping. I believe this principle is used in many commercial bottling procedures. like you, I want to know if this system can work with a non-transparent growler like one made of stainless steel. how would you know if it's almost full?
gothamvengeance My thoughts exactly. All that trouble and the seal was broken at the end. I just ordered a Drinktank Juggernaut 128 with the rap system.
CO2 is heavier than air, as LaStar said.. pulling it out like this and capping it will not disrupt the co2 layer unless you're swinging the growler around and being careless. In commercial breweries, they use the exact same method for canning and bottling.
