That is cool. Mine was a 69 Cougar 351W automatic. Currently have the 70 Houndstooth in this video and a 79 Cougar XR-7. Thank you sharing. I hope you still have the 76.
Thanks for the video. Just got a 1970 RX7 Convertible. White over Red 351C4v Auto. Upgraded the Cooling and Fuel System rebuilt the Shifter Bucket and Tail Lamps with all parts from WCCC. Replacing the Brake System is next on the list.
Had this same color combination 79 cougar back in 79. Only difference was that I had the two tone paint option, the lower part below the molding was dark blue and I added the padded trunk lid with same color vinyl and texture as the roof, done by rayco. I liked the look of the 79 mark V collector editions and added gold tape to tape off the blue on the front grille.
Sounds like you really loved that car. Very cool. I ended up spending about 50 hours on the outside of the car and it really shines now. So much better than what is in this video.
Yes, the owner of that website and I have talked a few times and helped each other out with Cougar data. Great guy. I wish we had more of that generation of cars at the car shows. I am also the webmaster for the Cougar Club of America and we do have a link to his website on the CCOA website on the Enthusiasts page: cougarclub2.org/links/enthusiasts/.
Pre-COVID, as the last show, there was only one and it was a 72. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NX7R3kZwl3Q.html. None this year, unfortunately.
Hello how are you? I saw in another video that you were a Sega game tester in the 90's. I create books with tips, cheats for Sega Genesis and Master System. Don't you happen to have some codes that were never released? It would be really cool. Thanks!
I rarely had codes, even when I led 16 titles through test. I wish I could help, but I have nothing left, except my Dreamcast and a ton of games, from those days. Sorry.
The '79 looks like a good buy in great shape! Needs just enough work to keep you busy for a while. And I love how solid it sounds when you opened and closed the door.
They are out there. Go to Facebook Marketplace and search for Mercury Cougar. Also, on Facebook, ask to join my group, High Desert Cougar Club. I post cars for sale all the time.
Probably a long shot but that car at 36 seconds missing that rear quarter may have been used to fix my cougar. Same greenish color. After sandblasting the car we found tons of filler and rust so we fully replaced that rear fender up to the roof line and was shipped out from WCCC
The XR7-G is one of 188 S code Hertz XR7-G's. There were also 12 X code show / airport display car XR7-G's that were part of the Hertz contract. An additional car - a 1967 S code "mule" - was the proof of concept car for the Hertz contract although it was not billed to Hertz.
