Hi Bill. Do you have any beginner recommendations for someone who enjoyed SirDavis and wants to try/learn more? I watched your "Beginner Whiskey Choices" video, and I see you have even more beginner guides for the various categories of whiskies, so there is a LOT of information. With this being half-rye, half-barley, and sherry-finished I'm not sure which direction to go in. I enjoyed how easy-to-drink it was while having those interesting aromas. Anything in particular? Thanks
Same as with other people and other countries: here in Poland JW black and Monkey Shoulder are usually roughly the same price whereas all the remaining whiskys from this video are 2 to 2,5 the price of Monkey Shoulder. And I mean the regular price without any discounts that are much more common for Monkey Shoulder (or JW Black) than the other whiskys. The price difference is so huge that it's hard to consider all these whiskys an alternative to Monkey Shoulder. Not to mention that Monkey Shoulder is blended malt whisky (and JW black is blended scotch) while all the other recommendations are single malts - that's a different category of whisky.
@Fro_manX before the insanity that came around Buffalo Trace, people enjoyed Eagle Rare. I personally feel it's one of the better expressions from BT... but I'd also say it's only above mediocre. At $45-50, I think it's good. Paying more than that it quickly becomes not worth it
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary that’s always some favorite in my collection too that and the jack Daniels single barrel barrel ride those are my two favorite whiskeys
Jameson is a cheap, inoffensive whiskey. Probably better than the other options at your local dive bar. If this is your metric for Irish whiskey give some others a chance. Many are quite interesting and have wonderful palettes from the sherry cask and aging. More subtle than American whiskey in my experience. Im partial to green spot but haven’t tasted everything.
That's the most disappointing Cairdeas I ever had. It's not a bad whisky! but compared to the last editions, disappointing...cant even compare them to the red wine / White port of fino editions
No on the Jack Daniels brother. It’s $10 more than Jim Beam White or Evan Williams. Both of which are better. Well, the Evan Williams is and actually Jim Beam 7 year might be the same price as JD, and it is older and 90 proof. And don’t drink Johnnie Walker Red neat. It’s meant to have soda water with it
This is a fun style of review. I went to Corsair in Nashville TN and I wasn’t a fan of this bottle. They did have a couple great pours though. Pizza was good too. Cheers
Only those bullshit about their ecological commitment should have made you give up on buying it, a mixture of that kind is not even worth the water they used
I don't waste my whisky and my liver looking for the same repetitive list of aromas and flavours in my sips and I also find the obtuse obsession with the 46 ABV absurd. In this case you have presented three excellent products and I usually buy them all, they are different, neither better nor worse, furthermore the impressions change with each bottle.
