That’s how I got me first ever salmon mate! Trauling with a softplastics off the back of the hire boat.. it was probably the first saltwater fish that I caught! Just wondering where’s this at? The water looked absolutely perfect and sooo still. Keep up the great work mate! Tight lines bro 🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣
@@eggcellentfishing7450 Ahh ok. I went over the road crossing at Melton a few weeks back, as I was going to buy a guitar in Kurunjang, but saw the water in the creek there was very black!
@@eggcellentfishing7450 DW, I am NOT going all the way from DANDENONG just to give it a go. Seems it wasn't flowing and had low oxygen levels. So there would NOT be much in that stretch atm. Maybe all this rain we had has given it a good FLUSH & it's flowing properly again in the Melton area! Cheers!
That's around Werribee? Never knew it was that good there. Those bass would have been stocked! Healthy size! That 1st fish was a common galaxia, the 2nd tupong!
The only thing I can say. Love the video but take the bell off lol. Definitely want to fish there. Can I ask where do they mention when the pump station is working ?
yeah they can get a bit annoying mate,i dont no if there is a time table or anything like that but from my experience when its really cold like close to 0 for a few days and everyone has there heaters on the pump will be on
Yamashita and Owner draw 4 are just a few i like to use and they are pretty cheap too, also check out the bargain bins at Anaconda and BCF sometimes you can find them for 5 bucks each
they go alright the savage gear plastics don't they, I commented on you black lure vid about savage gear curl tails and how I liked using them on everything and the bloodworm colour was my next favourite. The problem is though I don't think they sell them anymore or maybe don't make them anymore , like you I have found some here and there at very low prices in clearance bins and am not happy about it. Cheers.
what a great session that was, I used to use black curl tail grubs that savage gear used make and I would literally catch all types of fish on them, from redfin , a few rainbow trout even a carp in fresh water then flatties , pinkies and australian salmon and estuary perch loved them in the maribyrnong river. Cheers.
nice vid mate, I caught my first ever yella (which was very silver) at the melton weir just in front of the bridge island and a few months later saw a guy catch a tiny cod as well. fisheries have stocked a whole lot of fish in there and now I am a believer, along the side where caught the silver perch I commented on earlier hard up against the rock wall you can catch estuary perch and bass, and once I recover from ankle surgery in september I am going be down ther quick smart for some good times.
they don't last long, the only Gulp soft plastics I use are 4" turtleback worms otherwise it's the Zman type material plastic for me, but the Gulp do do a good job It's just that I like the lure to last a bit longer. Cheers mate.
That was a very nice session, I have never seen Tailor caught there before but to be honest I have never fished with bait or too many times before, but just a suggestion about the snip offs, if you run out of long shank hooks when the Tailor are around try and keep some Fastach clips in the tackle box and clip your standard or circle hooks to one and that gives you a little more distance from your knot and line and also allows for fast hook size change. Cheers.
Rainbow is one of my favourites, but blue/green has been a go-to for me for a while as well. My biggest squid had a hood of over 50cm abd weighed in at 2.9kg and came on a Yamashita egi-oh Q in green and blue. Pretty sure I've still got it.
thanks mate, nah i wasn't really using the sounder, mostly for the depth, i found it to be pretty shallow but there was quiet a few fish around on that day mate
@@eggcellentfishing7450 that’s awesome mate!! Nice to see so much around in winter! Might have to give it another go 😂. How deep were you fishing out of interest?
Hope you gave the reel a good soak in some freshwater after that mate, corrosion may be issues with the reel now. They really don't like going for a dip in saltwater 😬
Brother, I haven't heard too many good things about wearing waders or boots on a Kayak. If you capsize or end up in the water it can turn out to be a deadly situation. Thank you for the video. I was born and grew up in Victoria, I used to fish off Altona for southern calamari and snapper. Baytrout and silver trevally hot spot back in the day trolling just off the power station.
@@eggcellentfishing7450 how long does the battery last at those settings? I've been using a hero 12 at 5.3k for my videos and I get about 45 mins per battery 🤣
Hey mate it’s a type of gudgeon. Was that at Shaws road bridge I was born and bred down in Hoppers/ Werribee fished that river ever since I learned how too fish as a kid . Now I live in QLD I wish the river was stocked like that when I lived down there
yeah mate it is shaws bridge, some people say it is a tupong some say it is something else lol so i am a bit torn, any how it is fishing good for this time of year
