That is an unfounded assumption. Is it because they live in Lagos, where the ethnic language is Yoruba? Do you really think they'd learn Yoruba if they were in Enugu or Port Harcourt?
What the hell is wrong with that vegetable seller? The lady is trying to better the language by speaking with her and she keeps responding in English. Meanwhile she just commended her for learning their language.

We Nigerians are found it difficult to value and speaking our local language. Ghanaians people will tell you that Twi is their local language coz they value it very well. For American woman to learn Yoruba and came to Nigeria to practice it, shame that we the owner of the language don't even value it.
