robins have a mating language, using 1 2 and 3 musical notes for each word. This language has never held more words, and it's possibly older than humanity. Each robin has a name, and they promise to mate, and at some time later, the female chooses her next mate. I learned their language by immersion during the covid shutdown, living beside my empty university campus *FULL* of robins and other wildlife. Of course I searched for professors at my university that might be interested in my discovery... but they weren't, since I didn't learn the language by the scientific method of observation and recording. Just FYI the high pitched keening sound is a robin calling it's latest mate for aid... not in fear, just for aid.
Thank you for the amazing photography and explanations as to how they conduct their very complex and beautiful dance. I have seen only smaller groups of birds do this and have wondered how it’s done. Now I understand which makes it even more amazing. If one is near by the volume must be overwhelming. I am now going to watch it again. Again thank you for the enormous patience and time taken to teach us this 🙏
Swans are an amazing creature. You can hunt them in a couple states...kinda sad. I'm a hunter myself but just my opinion anything that big and beautiful should be left alone. I've had time to observe them and they are so smart and so majestic. God bless all even the swan hunters
Like the in the other video the man said cell phones are taking over the learning of the bird language..its true people would rather be on their phone instead..😌
Very nice video with valid information. It should be mentioned that there are two subspecies of tundra swans: the whistling swan, found in North America and the Bewick's swan, found in Asia.
Seriously I'm just in the beginning of this and Im already like what the fuc kind of conservation story is this supposed to be! Talking about fire on the Prairie being a bad thing is automatically a red flag that this is not exactly a very accurate project and then why did I choose cows over bizon...... that's a good damn question cuz they sure the hell don't have anything to do with the nature of that farm I don't give a crap what little farm was sitting there before!
I hear these calls every late fall, but could never get a good look at the birds making them. They were so high up so all I knew was they had large bodies with a long neck. A lot of birds have that description. Every year I try to figure it out, but no one knew. Just heard and saw them flying overhead and I knew they weren't geese and was pretty sure they weren't swans. I've seen a couple Sandhill cranes twice in my life, in the summer, walking in a field, making no sound that I could hear. This was in Minnesota and I live in Chicago. Looked up the sounds they make, and found this channel. FINALLY! Mystery solved! Thanks for posting this video
This is horrible advice. Cattle are absolutely not made for the environment. This is just purely lying for the sake of your benefit. Buffalo literally was the driver of the natural processes.
What a beautiful Project. I have always been weary of cattle and their environmental impact, but it’s not the animal that is the problem, it is indeed how they are used. And when they are stuck in feedlots for meat and dairy they are no good, but when strategically used they can transform entire landscapes and create biodiverse native ecosystems! Definitely a new strategy for native restoration I will be pushing for
Not true. It’s not illegal to kill. They have tags people can pull to hunt. I live in Alaska and people draw them unfortunately. I rescued 3 Trumpeters and took care of them till they were ready to fly. Beautiful creatures
Depends on state. I live in Texas. Completely illegal to hunt Trumpeter and Whooper(no licenses offered.) Mute swans are okay, although would not want to miss ID it.
Stop growing corn soybeans and hay for livestock in the Midwest which is destroying the ecology and using up fossil water and put livestock in place and restore the environment. A mix of livestock as well as wild flora and fauna.
