Just had this issue with mine. It goes in tomorrow for replacement of the module. They didn’t mention the sunroof leaking or the drain lines. I’ll ask them tomorrow. Cost they quoted is $800.
The fact that we need to do this lubrication & the fact that this is not in the manuals of thousands of different models of string trimmers over the past 30 years means that this engineered method & design of string advancement is not really a good invention at all. It seems iffy at best especially as the wear, tear & age of the trimmer advances itself. 04/30/24
i am staring at an estimate from Cadillac srx 2016 with this issue they want $5000 bucks to replace the tubes and module as well as the sunroof and its sunshade WTTF this is OBVIOUSLY a FAULT on THE CAR MAKER that this Keeps happening to ALMOST every owner I've spoken too as well they know its an issue and its they way of getting $$$$$$$$$..... class action lawsuit
The ultimate issue was the clogged sunroof drain lines which caused water to leak into the rear truck well shorting out the lift gate control module. When I took it to a shop to have the control module reprogrammed I was told it was throwing a second code and they wanted a lot of money to chase it down before reprogramming the module. They said it may be the lift gate actuator so I threw some money at it and replaced it. It didn’t work so I took it to the dealership this time and they reprogrammed the module and said the second code was the rear truck lid lift button at the license plate and they wanted $1200 to replace it or leave it and just use the remote fob or the door button to open the truck. Guess which option I chose 😁. A month later the rear deck lid button started working again and I’ve had no issues since. Be sure to clear your sunroof drain lines every year or two which same goes for any vehicle with a sunroof and you’ll never have an issue. Hope this helps. Take care!
I replaced the lift gate control module on my 2015 but when I press the release button it unlocks but doesn’t lift up? Any idea what could cause that issue?

Hi Mike and thanks for your question. I didn’t write down the exact mileage, but it had approximately 153k on May 7th 2023 when I replaced it. Today is Nov 19th 2023 and it has 165k and the check engine light is still off. So that’s 6 months and 12k miles. Hope this helps. Take care!

How long did you have to hold the torch on the bolts? I didn't use heat to take off the lower two but I can imagine the top ones will be much more difficult
Hi Joseph… I got them to where they were just starting to glow. The hotter the better. You don’t want to take any chances that they might break off, then you’ll have another issue that will be much more complicated. Good luck with your project. Take care!

You shouldn’t have any issues with emissions/smog test or visual inspections. Also, as of this post I have had no issues and no check engine lights or codes. Hi… this is maintenance issue, not a GM issue. This happens to all sunroofs regardless of manufacturer. The main issue is most of us don’t find out about this until it’s to late. You should be able to pop out the light on the lift gate from inside the trunk and use a flat head screw driver to push on the lever to manually open the lift gate. There are serval videos on RU-vid that can show you how to do that. Thanks for reaching out and good luck. Take care!
Hi… I would check the string and make sure you don’t have a tangle that’s not allowing the string to advance. There is an adjustable string blade on the outside of the guard that keeps the string at the proper length. Good luck!
The short answer is yes but it is a heavier line and it MAY cause some issues down the road after extended use because the motor is designed to use the .065 Don’t think I go much heavier than that though. Do you soak your line in water before using it? Stihl says it can make the line last longer because it hardens it, theres lots of videos out there covering this topic
Hi… both rear drain tubes were clogged and yes. No more water issues. Hopefully your control module will be a plug and play but I did have to have mine reprogrammed at the dealership which cost about $450. The best way to clear those drain tubes is to pull back the rear bump cover on each side by taking the screws out behind the rear wheels, park on an incline, pour a little water on each side of the sun roof and you may need to jack the car up slightly on each side. Then place a shop vac on the drain tube exit holes and it will clear them right out. Much easier than dropping the headliner. Take care and good luck!

I was having this issue with a corded trimmer with the bump feed not working. The silicon spray lubricant actually resolved my issue too. So thanks for the idea. Saved me tossing in the trash and buying a new one.
Ive got a 2015 sentra sr i just bought a couple months ago. Ive done some work to it since i felt like the cvt wasnt doing so great dropped the pan and all that good stuff. But its just so slow to accelerate, and the little 1.8 motor shakes so badly. Im coming to the conclusion my cat might be backed up. What im asking have you had any of these issues with yours before you replaced that coverter? Like sluggish acceleration or the motor shaking at idle . Idk just seems back up to me. I may be wrong and its just my cvt. Or even the Exhaust tip rattling like on mine
@esain1 thank you. Forgot that I had a jack and a tire and rim from my Ford escape in the trunk from the other day, that may be part of my low acceleration problem 😅
Update… I did have to have the module programmed for it to work. $450 at the dealership. Mine also had a code that the rear lift gate button at the license plate that was bad. Cost was $1100 so I use the remote and the button on the door. I hate I didn’t have the first shop program the module, they were $185 but when they said it was pulling a another code they advised it might be best to take the the dealer since they didn’t have experience with the issue. End of the day it was a programming issue. Hope this helps. Good luck with your project.
Hi… yes it did. Just have to drive it 30 miles or so and it’s been off ever since. Here’s the link… AUTOSAVER88 Catalytic Converter Compatible for 2007-2012 Sentra 2.0L Direct-Fit (EPA Compliant) a.co/d/9D6egQl Just remember, I had to reuse the gasket on the manifold. The one that came with it did not fit so there may be a better exact match out there. If you decide to buy a “USED” one it may be missing a bolt or spring. I also reused my O2 sensor. That’s welded on by the mfg. You heat that and remove the 14mm side with the spring. Even if it breaks off your okay because it’s on the converter side. You can use the nut and bolt combo from Lowe’s that I posted, just be sure to add a few washers and the springs for flex. Good luck!

@@davidoviedo664 Sure did. Also may have some oil blow out the tail pipe and cause a mess around the rear bumper. It will clear up after a few days and wash the rear end with some degreaser and you’ll be good to go. Glad the video was helpful. Take care!
Hey there are the springs supposed compressed all the way down ? I have a 2007 Nissan Sentra and it’s leaking air from the upper part where the cat is at . I was thinking it might be loose bc my springs aren’t all the way down or could it be the gasket has failed ?
