Lovely images. How are you liking this camera? I had the BM Ursa Mini 4k which I believe is the same sensor as this cam, and actually it's possibly my favourite BM sensor based on images I got, but I remember the dynamic range being shocking and the low light was the worst of all BM cameras, almost unusable beyond ISO 400. Camera died which is only reason I don't still use it.
oh geez.. I'm sorry. I just saw that I poorly commented "thank you" to your message. I really love this camera. Yeah, all the flaws about it you mention are true. I was also shocked that the crop on it is more than APSC typically. but the sensor produces magic. The dynamic range is fair compared to most BM 13 stop cameras. Low light doesn't bother me too much.. It forces you to seek out bright light sources at night or bring your own.. but, I just remember movies I enjoy that are shot at night that dont expose for everything. I'm okay with heavy shadows. It looks authentically dark. I'd say it's worth grabbing a new one since they're priced so cheap. I'd use this for talking heads and my ursa g1 4.6k for landscapes or establishing shots.
@@gregkeith6958 I stay away from variable ND.. I carry 3 regular circular NDs on me... that way the variable doesn't remove the reflective highlights from skin at certain angles.
@@jimmyzjam this is the Gen 1 Ursa mini.. non pro. I grade in after effects as Davinci is still confusing for me. I shot in uncompressed dng and used a vision color LUT
With the BMCC's 2.39x crop factor, your lens is shooting at 57.36mm, check? Or are you using some kind of focal reducer? One more question please, Are you using BMCC EF or MFT? thanks
Ask as many questions as you like.. I only use mft versions. I do use speed booster. I have 3 versions with the last being questionable but I'll tell u why in the end. I use metabones speed boosters. They are rated best quality and provide wider focal ranges: .71x... .64x and .58x So multiply those numbers to the crop and see where in relation to s35 they fall in to. The .58x is meant for the pocket OG and was said it will hit the glass filter if u attempt it on the 2.5k.,.... But it doesn't and works great but should only be used on lenses that have a small rear glass element or u will see vignetting. The .64x is the safest bet
I just bought Anamorphot-50 1.33 Adapter, it hasn't arrived yet, but my camera is with EF mount, so my crop factor is 2.39, but I just discovered an "Internal focal reducer" called LUC Adapter magic-booster-c- 2-5k, so my camera would have a crop factor of 1.6x, but I didn't buy it. My question is, with my original BMCC 2.5k 2.39x crop factor with the "Anamorphot-50 1.33 Adapter" will it work best with which of these lenses below: (These are lenses I already have) Vivitar Telephoto 200mm f3.5 Super-Takumar 50mm f1.4 Minolta Rokkor-TC 100mm Minolta Rokkor-SI 28mm f2.5mm Rokinon 8mm f3.5 Fisheye Thanks a million, I'm asking you because I really liked your image.@@fourth1000
@@eduardokreca the anamorphic only has a working range from 28mm to about 65mm. It will was my work any higher than that..so any lense u have multiplied by the crop to get those ranges should be your sweet spot
The best I can do is keep fstop at about f4 and under.. of higher keep the camera moving but it's there. I stopped caring when I see aliasing in professional television like new walking dead with Maggie
Working hard uh? Loved the driving scenes! Toothy, whats to sharpest cheapest widest lens you´ve seen in this camera? Any of the Nikkors? Or the Samyang? The restaurant look amazing.
I intentionally switch between sharp and soft lenses. My AIS series are great priced but seem sharp and soft at the same time. They have clowdy mid blacks but a cunchy look to them. I'd say these are my filmic lenses. the best at sharpness being the 28mm AI-S 2.8. wide open most AIS lenses perform odd- having a dreamy haze effect that goes away by f2.8 or F4. If you want sharp creme-el-la-creme of sharpness and microcontrast- go with the zeiss distagon lenses. Start with the 35mm f2 (not 1.4) and go from there. Those lenses are tac sharp and add a 3dimensionaity to the image for static shots. Samyangs are cool but when I had them only the 35mm was the stand out. the others inconsistent with the 24mm being the worst.
I´ve just realized this footage was shot by you. It´s staggering what this camera paired with good lighting and great lenses can do. This camera is a steal for what´s being asked on the market.
@@fourth1000 Really.......i´ve paid 500 bucks on mine....loving the grading! I am gonna try the slow motion from topaz, and the 4k enhancing. Let´s see!
@@fourth1000 I am still using premiere pro, but will switch to Davinci for good soon! I ll definitely show the results to you as soon as I shoot something!!!
Man, you just can´t compare Voigtland to cheap canon lenses...there´s no match for the sharpness this one brings. Did you shoot raw? Loved the mood, LUTs music, tone, everyting.
oh yeah. Eveytime I shoot, it's always raw. I've never switched to the prores option. haha. Check out the person who turned me on to the voigtlander lenses. His channel name is Theoria Apophasis: formerly known as the Angry Photographer. But be sure to type in voigtlander lens because now he does world news live chats. But start with all his short videos about the 58mm 1.4 and hear how he praises this criminally under priced lens an any of his other lens information. The short would of turned out better if my cinematographer showed up, so I ignored lighting and just placed the actors in the best spots. It was also an exercise in freestyle filmmaking without story boards. Glad you liked it.
@@fourth1000 Man, it definitely feels like a little RED or ARRI in your hands. I loved the prores HQ that comes out...beautiful colors, easy to grade, even the back LCD helps a lot on focusing. I´ve used a tripod and it looks great without all the micro jitterings. But a shoulder rig can do the job too to stabilyze. I still look at a lot of Sonys and Panasonic videos on YT from their most recent cameras and it feels like video, i don´t know...too digital. The BMCC brings the film look back to you. For 500 dollars, i think it was a bargain. BM really should bring the classic pocket camera back to market, it was a great product. I´ll keep showing the videos to you. I´ve bought some vintage lenses from Pentax directly from Japan, let´s see how it works! Sharp lenses can truly bring the best out of this camera. Exporting videos in 4k and uploading them worked pretty well for me, but without having the hassle of storing huge 4k videos. Your film above says it all about this camera - looks like it came out of a netflix documentary. I think most guys today jump quick on new gear releases and don´t spend the proper time to master what they have. They end up wasting too much money and not learning the craft. In the old days Kubrick and Spielberg and others were forced to get the best out of what they had, since they had to use their cameras for years instead of replacing them every 6 months, so i guess they focused on creativity way more.
Well done, i just saw some of your other footage, I bought myself this BMCC and i am never selling it again. This look can´t be reproduced, makes me sad that BM doesnt offer these cameras anymore!!!! What lens did you use in this one? Looks amazingly sharp!
@@fourth1000 thanks for the tip! Well, it looks reaaaaaally good already. Saw you commenting on that french guy. I ´ll start posting a lot of BMCC content here soon, will let you know.
