you retransform the blade by pressing L1 again after the first transformed R1...just right after other wise if you wait you will simply return to untricked mode without the swing.

How do i use the weapon art/ash? When i press Lb on my controller he pulls back the string but there is no arrow on it. I can shoot regular arrows but i don't understand how i use the bow with homing missiles. Can you please explain
LB activates your ash of war stance called “rancor shot” Then while keeping LB down you shoot the arrows you have equipped normally with either RB…. The homing aspect is applied regardless of the arrows type shot
I really hope they increase its range and fix how sometimes your throw just misses locked targets by a while two feet to the right Having something that’s entirely a ranged weapon that is almost entirely restricted to spear range is super weird? Like why would I ever use this if I could just use any melee weapon or a spell lmao It’s a shame because it’s so fun to use! Jumping backwards and landing headshots on enemies is super fun, but spacing out enemies to do that usually means they’re out of your range too. It just sucks!
I know right? well if you have found and tried the other smith script weapons they are largely as bad...sadly. The backhand blade version is appallingly shit, the spear is ok...ish. I have not found the axe and maybe there are others I am not aware of...but they seem to share the same issue: range and damage is terrible even with the talisman boosting the ranged attacks (by the way the arrow sting and reach do not improve it)
I still have to come across something else that those super shitty throwing daggers but those were so bad that only masochists are going to use them. The spears seem insane on the other hand…
No but I know it is broken with status infusion from the billion vids about how to abuse it out there. Therefore not interested: there is a very large area between broken good exploit and abysmally shit. Just not for this weapon currently
Haven't tested it properly yet but the problem I have with this weapon is I use Occult Spiked Caestus and the damage on this one is a bit underwhelming in comparison. I tried respecing to quality and heavy but still fell short. It'd do a bit more dmg with buffs but that's just the Spiked's bleed with a limited duration. I'm not a pro minmaxer tho so I might just be doing it wrong. =P
Yeah nothing compares to spiked caesti in terms of raw damage especially on occult infusion. Where dryleaf outperforms caesti is not raw damage though but range and speed: it has more forward movement in the R1 chains so you can fuck up low poise ennemies real bad. The running R2 is also marvellous!
@@soulsdegreen yea it's OK on scrub enemies my problem is using it with bosses, i.e., when it matters. I've tried other weapons but the caestus is just the most fun for me. my one problem with the caestus is a number of boss hitboxes where I can be literally humping their legs but I'll be punching the air. I was excited for new fist weapons I could possibly switch to but the beast claw too like it has better dmg than spiked but the input delay and dancing around get annoying sometimes... I'll probably just caestus forever lol
@@HarumiRose lol I am with you : the beast claws have super cool animations but it is a bit all over the place. The damage is great on ennemies but I am sure that getting stuck in those long animation strings versus bosses who are not staggered at all is going to be painful. I have yet to test the throwing weapons and spiked shields but something tells me not much will be able to replace my loyal cold peeler and keen knight’s great sword…
Look maybe I will be a killer in PvP or something but in pve I find it utterly utterly useless so far because it has less stagger potential than freaking straight swords it is embarrassing. Probably awesome versus poise less ennemies but then anything else melt those anyways so…
