Prince Edward and Prince of Wales, Novello, Gielgud, Sondheim (Formerly Queen's), Noël Coward and Wyndham's have all had major refurbishments in the last few years, combining beautiful restoration with twenty first century comfort. We have also recently welcomed Victoria Palace to the Delfont Mackintosh Theatres group.
Just saw it - like, 2 hours ago, and it was nothing less than INCREDIBLE - RUN, don't walk - RUN to see it; it was so much fun & the performances are outstanding!!!!
I was only in London a few days and planned to see this show twice...but I saw it four times! It was worth every penny. Fabulous performances! Clare Burt was out for two of the performances I saw and the ladies who took over her songs were wonderful. One of the younger stars (Monique Young) did Clare's part in "Gotta Get a Gimmick," Janie Dee did "The Little Things You Do Together," and Joanna Riding did "The Ladies Who Lunch." WOW. Such a wonderful company of performances - I wish I'd seen more performers singing songs they don't normally sing - including Lea singing Miss Mazeppa!
I'll drink to that!!! Saw in September and was totally blown away. Was at the opening night of 'Side by Side' at the Mermaid, which was the most amazing experience of my theatre-going life. Old Friends gave me the same feeling of awe at such an incredible range of work and the talent that is required to perform it. This is a wonderful tribute to a genius and I'm looking forward to seeing it all over again on 30 December. Thank you for extending the run.
I saw Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends at the Gielgud Theatre on Wednesday 27th September 2023 which was absolutely fantastic and met Cameron outside the theatre before the show he was very nice and signed the programme for me
My Good Companion, Joyce, and I were lucky to see the Opening Night of Old Friends at the Gielgud. It was one of our most joyous evenings at a theatre (and we are both octogenarians with long experience of opening nights). It is a show that bounces with wonderful music, Stephen Sondheim's untouchable lyrics and a cast that is completely 'on song.' If you can catch it, make it a MUST visit. Thank you.
