Thank you so much! That's really helpful feedback because I'm often unsure how it translates to others. I'm so used to my home and life that I feel a little blind to it. I don't do any color correcting post-production, but I do set up a light kit if it's storming/cloudy because I don't get enough light otherwise. I use a Sony a7iv, and I use Filmora for all of my editing. Thanks so much for watching!
The slow cooker is a wonderful tool to cook a meal and not need to devote a lot of time to it. I have decided some time ago to get rid of things I don't use or need. It's an ongoing process. Really, how many pairs of pants do you need?!?!? I still have more than I probably need, in many ways.
The slow cooker is one of the best inventions. I've actually been cleaning out my closet, too. Last weekend, I sold a bunch of clothes on Marketplace. And I also took a big bag to donate. I end up wearing the same things over and over, so there is no sense in keeping the stuff I don't wear. Thanks for watching!
LOVE this video - thank you for keeping it simple and realistic! Question for you - how long do you leave the cloth on the jar before putting an air tight lid back on?
Hey there! I'm so glad it was helpful! Usually, when I switch to to an air tight lid, I wait until the starter has totally deflated (usually about 24 hours after feeding). Hope that helps. And thanks for watching!
I love bringing nature in to decorate my home. I have pieces of driftwood, it's easy to collect living in the great lake state and pinecone. I also have lots of plants too
Yes! Here on the coast, lots of folks collect seashells for decorating. Pinecones are easy to find here. But I wish we had more leaves that changed in the fall. I've seen some really cool tutorials about preserving leaves for decorating. But we don't have too many here. Thanks for watching!
Hi! Was the total of all flour 1350g? Or was the fresh milled flour in addition to the 1350g of all-purpose flour (if in addition, how much fresh milled was used)? Also, was your fresh milled flour from hard white or soft white wheat? Thanks!
Hey there! The milled flour was in addition to the 1350g. I put the recipe on my site, but I adjusted the ratios so it's a little easier to double or triple. I used hard red wheat for my pizza dough. Let me know if you have any other questions. Always happy to help. Thanks for watching!
Had a sourdough starter dream too a few nights ago! I'm a retired ship's captain and we tend to have OCD in solving problems, but dreams are usually about problems about engineering, computers, communications etc. But disturbing dreams about flour and dough? Thought I was losing it and should just deal with instant dry yeast. Now I know I'm not alone. LOL! Thanks for the video.
Thank you for this video. I'm not new to baking or making pizzas Etc but I just decided to try to do sourdough a week or so ago. I believe I have a healthy starter after 8 days I have 3 days of doubling volume. Next step in the next week is what to do with it when I want to put it in the refrigerator. Other videos make it seem like we're doing the Manhattan Project all over again. I believe you have answered pretty much all my questions and thank you once again. Cheers!
I'm so excited that you have an established starter! Congrats! Once you get the basics down, sourdough is uncomplicated and really forgiving. Let me know if you have any questions! I'm happy to help! Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
I’m binging your videos - listening with headphones as I clean the house. But I am just soaking in all your tips, encouragement, and relatability. Thanks so much for sharing your content with people! I work full time outside the home and am a wife…. I dreamed of being a stay at home-homemaker but life had some plot twists and that just wasn’t an option. But I am trying to push resentment out of my head and practice gratitude and practice incorporating that homemaker dream into my current life. You said in some other video something along the lines of - everyone is a homemaker in some way, we all have to cook and have clean clothes and ideally a clean home- we all are homemakers in our home. It really struck my heart and stuck with me and I’m so thankful for your channel. It was just something about the way you worded it that really encouraged my heart. Your words have blessed me. Have a great day!
I am so glad we can connect here! And I'm so glad you are finding some encouragement. One of the things I hope to touch on is that no matter where we find ourselves in life, if we have a home, we are making it. It's my hope that we can all find simplicity and joy in our homes and homemaking whether we work full time outside of the home or inside of it. ❤️ Thank you so much for watching!
Oh, I'm so glad!!! I like to listen to podcasts/videos while doing the dishes, too. It definitely makes it more bearable. Thank you so much for listening/watching! ❤️
Thank you! I got it at a local boutique a few months ago. It's my most comfortable outfit. I can't find the shorts online, but this is the same brand and style in pants. poshmark.com/listing/NWT-Easel-Wide-Leg-Jumpsuit-Jumper-Overalls-Washed-Cotton-Romper-66897d757fc82637ae178bc4
Vinegar is amazing. You can do just about anything with it. I haven't had any buildup or odor on my towels since stripping them. But I should use vinegar once in a while to help prevent odor. Towels are a workhorse in my kitchen. Thanks for watching!
I'm not great at planning either and especially now with being off of work due to an injury. I have gone off schedule. I did cook up chicken stock to freeze and made Mississippi chicken that freezes well. Makes for an easy meal
I always want to be good at planning. And often, I am good at making a meal plan. But inevitably, my plans are thwarted. I definitely do better and reduce food waste by prepping in advance and having a few set recipes I can always fall back on. I've never had Mississippi chicken. I just Googled it, and it looks delicious! Thanks so much for watching!
I love gnocchi in chicken soup, I need to try out the recipe the next time I make my chicken and veggie soup. I also love apple and pumpkin, I know my niece would love to make the apple bread
The apple bread doesn't stand a chance around here. It goes faster than anything else. I also really love gnocchi in soup. I like to make a creamy Olive Garden-ish soup with gnocchi in the winter. Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you so much! In my experience, sourdough discard recipes work best with leaveners. But it really depends on the recipe. So if you want to toss a little discard into one of your favorite recipes, you'll still need baking soda/powder. Thanks for watching!
Hey there! Beginners can definitely make the pasta recipe I shared in the video. It's a pretty classic sourdough pasta recipe except that I made it with fresh-milled flour. But I've made pasta with all-purpose, kamut, whole wheat, and other flours with success. You can do it! Thanks for watching!
I too like to buy things that I can have forever and pass them down. I love simple meals that are nourishing for both body and soul. One thing I think that isn't talk enough about is what your local library offers. It's not just books, there are activities and crafts, I have taken classes there. It helps with consumerism and builds the community
Yes! I love the library!!! They have great events for kids and adults. And books are SO expensive, so the library is a great way to save a little money and enjoy reading. Thanks so much for watcing!
Hahaha! This pretty much sums up my life. It's a delicate balance. 🤣 But I will say that some things, like an espresso machine, have both simplified and enhanced our lives. It's been a hub of family fun and connection. My little one loves making a "kid's coffee" (aka frothed milk with sprinkles) with us. And we have spent a lot of family time together over coffee that we really love. Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you for sharing your journey! We’ve been wanting to keep growing our family but the outside world and extended family have no problem letting me know I’m too old at 37 Almost 38 and selfish …. I’ve been praying and your video randomly popping with your story gives me great hope ❤🙏🏻 Not sure where you are but if we were close I’d totally be mama friends with you 🫶🏻
We can be mama friends here! Are you in North Carolina by chance? A lot of folks feel that 38 is too old to have a baby. But honestly, it was the best time for me to have one (I also didn't even meet my husband until I was 32, so there's that factor also). Since I was of "advanced maternal age," I was able to see a genetic specialist, and she reassured me that 38 is a totally normal time to have a baby. But I will say that even though it was a great time in life to have a baby, I definitely don't have the energy I did 10 years ago. 🤣
Thank you for the discussion of sourdough vs. yeast timing. This has been one of my 'sticking' points with sourdough, the time it takes to ferment. I'm always chomping at the bit to get to baking, which has made 1-2 day fermenting cycles very annoying.
Hey there! There is definitely a benefit to both. Right now, with a small child in tow, it's easier for me to have that long fermentation period. We are moving from one thing the the next so quickly that it's easiest to make the dough in the morning and handle the rest later. But before having a kid, I liked the convenience of making yeast breads. Either way, homemade bread is the best! Thanks so much for watching!
Put the whole butternut squash with the skin on, ends cut off in the crockpot on high for 3 hours. Add a little water to the bottom of the crockpot. Cooks easily and perfectly, especially for soups, stews and baking.🍁
Hey there! The fall pizza and cottage cheese will be coming to my site soon (moonandmagnolia.com). And the apple butter is a loose version of this: www.mybakingaddiction.com/crock-pot-slow-cooker-apple-butter-recipe/. Thanks so much for watching.
As a mother of two and now grandmother of eight , there are no regrets of choosing to be stay at home mom . The days are long but the years are short is a true statement .
I wish we had more fall, too. We don't get much fall weather here. But I still love it! My cutting board is from here: tidd.ly/3zsCyWT. My husband's coworker/friend makes them. That's an affiliate link, but totally no pressure. Just fyi. :) Thanks so much for watching!
Oh, yes! Goat cheese would be good, too. Though winter is my favorite season, I try to appreciate all of the seasons for what they offer. Thanks for watching! ❤️
I was just telling my son I would like to try to make apple butter...so I think I'll give it a try. I wish my family would give that pizza a try...it looks delicious! We just had a storm come through and flooded my garden too. So we will be starting over but that's just how it goes. Thank you for another great video ❤
I just found you and I am so happy! I am having my first baby at 36 and want nothing more than to be a homemaker. I've been working full-time for what feels like my entire life, so it's so nice to find someone I can relate to on so many levels.
Oh my goodness you are speaking to my heart! I'm a first time mom at 41 and just left my 20 year career to stay home. Wow is this lonely. I'm trying to figure out how to build community as all my family and friends are on the opposite side of the country. I don't use social media other than viewing youtube and boy is it difficult meeting new people.
It's definitely a big shift transitioning from working to staying home. I also don't have family nearby, so I get how hard that is. Now that my little one is in preschool, it's been a little easier to meet other moms. But I definitely wasn't prepared for the social challenges of motherhood, especially at this age. I'm glad we can connect here! Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
